Mediterranean Grill

Ordered there the other day, everything was absolutely disgusting. Lamb was very fat and nothing but bones, the falafel were so dry I couldn’t eat it, and even the rice was very oily with a funny taste.
Only the hummus was just decent.
Avoid.

Do yourself a huge favor and don’t go! I just finished eating there after arriving in town for the night from LA and happened to a stubble upon it. Let me tell you, biggest regret ever!!! It was the worst Mediterranean food I have ever had in my life and the owner ripped me off! I gave him $ 40 US dollars for a 35CAN order and I got back 7 CAN. How does this even make sense??? I tried confronting him about it and he just acted stupid as if the US and CAN are the same exact exchange rate. And completely brushed me off! He wouldn’t even give me my receipt he said it was «too late»… Besides being ripped off, it didn’t help the food was completely disgusting!!! Stay FAR away from this place you’re better off going elsewhere !!!

Probably the worst customer service I’ve had in Vancouver. The woman got my order wrong, insisting I used language that wasn’t on the menu, and then when I was reticent about eating, she said, «go ahead and leave I’m busy without you.» I was appalled and walked two blocks down to a much better Greek place. I wouldn’t give this place a penny.

What an amazing little place right in the middle of busy Denman street ! FANTASTIC night time dinner spot! Limited in space to me since I’m from Houston but for Vancouver is normal. Me and my husband discovered this place by driving by after a night at a bar we were hungry.
We really enjoyed our experience here ! I lived in Vancouver for 2 years and this is so far my ultimate favorite Mediterranean restaurant ! I am now back in Houston and I still dream about this place ! I’ve never tasted better shawarma in my life, i am looking forward to go back to Vancouver and visit this place again !
Please don’t be fooled by the bad reviews of this place ! Please visit and eat here and you will be amazed !

Wow, stunned by the rating here. Mediterranean Grill makes good food. I’ve both gone in and ordered from them numerous times and it has become my favourite affordable mediterranean food spot in the entire West End.
Their salads are dee-​lish and very fresh. Their Jujeh and Koobideh taste good. Their pita bread is quite frankly addictive, and their prices are very reasonable. It’s not a taste explosion but what do you expect for a huge plate of food at $ 10?
The staff did seem a bit reserved the first couple times I visited but nowadays they are very friendly when they recognize me come in.
I really don’t get the rating, the food is fine and I’ve had a ton of Mediterranean over the years in several countries. Also, there are way worse cashiers out there than the ones at Mediterranean Grill.
Check it out and get the Jujeh platter with a greek salad. It’s a stellar food/​price point.

This was horrible place. Shwarma was bad, tasted fishy, my friend moshtagh makes better shawarma and he’s got no taste buds.

Food is ok.
Workers are rude and don’t appreciate your business.
If you like getting dirty looks and like to feel like you’re annoying them by giving them business when no one else is in there this is your place!

Absolute waste of money and time. The food is super old and stinky. Even thinking about it makes us sick. I couldn’t eat even half of my dish. Disgusting. UGH…

Placed an order online, after an hour of waiting they showed the status as delivered! When I called them up, at first they said they hadn’t received the order. After I insisted they double-​check (I had already paid online, so I needed a refund!), they said that the order «just came through». They asked me to call LazyMeal to get my refund.
Terrible, terrible service.

I had the Greek chicken salad. I watched him out my meat in the microwave to heat it up. Overall the taste was good but I was worried. The lady at the counter looked annoyed.

Koobideh was flavourless and the same goes for the chicken in the chicken shawarma plate. The dill rice had too much dill and the taste of the dill was more than anyone can handle. The wife loves dill but said the rice was terrible. We would’ve been better off going to the Babylon Café next door. Will we be back? Definitely not

The first time I ate here I was so happy to have found this place. The food tasted fantastic. That was only a couple months ago. I must have gone at a good time because even though the guy working there was a miserable downer, the food tasted pretty great.
The last 2 times I have gone here has been in the afternoon when two women have been working. I swear no one in this place knows what a smile is. Most miserable group of workers I’ve ever seen. Today I ordered my food from a woman who didn’t say a word to me, just a cold soulless glare. I looked up and saw them MICROWAVING my food right in front of me (who the hell does this? How long has the meat been sitting out for?!) the other woman then put it in a box and then literally tossed it on top of the counter in its bag at me and then immediately turned her back to me and just stood there. I said «thank you» to her and she too just turned and glared at me.
So I won’t be returning again. For the record, i took a few bites of the food when I got home and it tastes just like you would expect day old microwaved food to taste. Maybe if the attitudes here change I’ll return but I see that never happening. These people need a reality check. And maybe a check up from the health inspector too.

Decent place. good Persian food on the go. There was quite a following it seemed because lots of people were going in and out the whole time.

Took a pit stop to get a late lunch with my gf. The location of the restaurant is really good, walking distance from English bay Beach.
By reading a couple of reviews here I can’t say anything about the cashier since my gf ordered while I found a table and waited outside also she didn’t mention anything negative either.
Service was mediocre but the server that was running around is really friendly by the way he talked to other patrons while I observed and asked us if we needed anything after we received our order.
Food was good and filling but wasn’t great enough for me to rate it four stars. It doesn’t taste fresh as other Mediterranean restaurants I’ve ate at.

Worse experience ever! I cant believe how people here are not being honest with their comments. When we went there with my friends, they gave us a microwaved pita and charged extra for drink. The lady who was taking the orders were full of attitude and being so rude when we went back to ask about the reason for extra charge. Never again! Awful taste, awful service

Listen to the reviews. Absolutely spot on, this place is at BEST 2 stars. All 4 of us hated our plate, and had spent $ 50 bucks so you can imagine how annoyed everyone was. You would think that being in a city this competitive in terms of food quality, and being located within a few doors of some of my favorite places, that they would be able to rise to the occasion, but that is not the case.
The fact is, when you try to do 2 types of cuisine (in this case Greek and Persian) you are bound to suffer in an area, and that area is taste. The meat was poorly seasoned and bland (I had the Persian kabobs) and required lots of sauce, while the steak (barg) was overly dry. We literally left the food half eaten, got up and walked a few doors down to Zeitoon and had a true feast! Expensive evening but worth the crisis!
Moral of the story, don’t ignore the reviews, Unilocal almost saved us time and money but I let the pictures of food on the sign distract me. Rookie move!

Me and few bros ate here yesterday and their customer service is soo bad and rude and the girl at the disk is a little slutty towards the guys and rude to the girls any who the food was cold we were starving and couldn’t wait no more so we just ate the food but I wished we ate at macdonalds then here after we left my bro had the bad runs and all night was in pain we took him to the hospital and he had food poisoning DO NOT EVEN tASTE THEIR AWFUL microwave food and their rudeness they should be checked out by the health authority

I’m not going back here, food safety is very important and apparently these guys know nothing about.
Food handler was not wearing gloves, the lady helped prepping food after handling cash register without washing hands. Not to mention food storage temperature, they actually microwave the plate before serving.
We should contact Vancouver Coastal health.

I adore this place. It’s open late, friendly staff and fresh food anytime of the day or night. The chicken is always moist and flavourful, the rice is never bland and that hummus is some of the best you’ll taste downtown. I usually get the chicken souvlaki but since my friend ordered for me I had the chicken shwarma and what a delightful meal. No qualms, and big thank you for allowing us to borrow the wine glasses, I swear the young owner is one of the nicest gents you’ll meet around town. Cozy atmosphere, great food. Needless to say this place is a go to favorite!

Our food was cold, potato actually felt like it just came out of the fridge. Our $ 1 extra tzatziki was definitely watered down! Just outrageous. Asked for hot sauce on my shawarma pita and of course none was added.
This is upsetting because I have eaten here before and enjoyed my food. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t AT LEAST serve their customers WARM FOOD!
