We are Modern Done Upholstery and we are a family owned and operated business with 50 Years of Custom Upholstery service in Vancouver. Master Craftsman Frank Dappen specializes in European Craftsmanship, repairing and recovering Antiques and Modern Furniture Alike.

Francesca has recently joined her father in running the business after 25 years as a Decorator and Designer in the Film Industry. She is thrilled to have this opportunity to bring her great eye for detail into customer’s homes.

History

Established in 1959.

Master Craftsman Frank Dappen started Modern Done over 50 years ago offering European Craftsmanship to Vancouver households and businesses alike.

Frank apprenticed in Geneva and worked with many designers over the years. Some projects of note: King of Tonga’s throne & Royal Suite for Princess Diana — Pan Pacific & the seats at the legendary Hollywood Theatre.

Frank’s presence over the last 50 years has made him a renowned local figure as a specialist in upholstery, with profiles in the Sun newspaper and on the Shopping Bags TV show.

Francesca Dappen recently joined her father in managing the family business. Notably, she recently redid the iconic sequin sign — a unique feature on West 4^th. With 25 years of decorating and design for Film & Television — her unique style and attention to detail adds a new flair to this well established local Business in the heart of Kitsilano.

UBC Grad in Film with a Certificate of Design from the Chelsea Art College in London, Francesca has travelled the world and brings a Unique Flair to Vancouver Homes with her creative style, vast knowledge and experience both in Canada and abroad. She is known for her attention to detail, coming from years of experience in the world of film and television.
