Mr Lube

The worst experience ever! I went to get an oil change, and they recommended to rotate tires so they did. As soon as I started to drive my car, I noticed something wrong with the left front tire making strange noise. I was so nervous that I returned to the shop and explained what’s going on. The manager couldn’t hear any noises from outside. I asked him to drive or sit inside to hear and feel the noise coming from the tire. He said that it was their company policy that none of their employees can’t be inside of any of customers cars. I continued on complaining and said him that I can’t drive my car safely anymore. One of employees actually came in my car, and we drove for a couple blocks and he admitted that something wrong. They decided to put back the tires as located originally and returned the money back, but it didn’t resolve the problem. I was told that I have to go to see someone else to fix it!!! They don’t care about safety drive and your life!!!
What kind of business is this? I have to call BCAA tomorrow morning to take my car to Audi dealer service to get repaired!!! Never go back this store. Of course I will charge the whole cost to get fix this to this Mr. Lube on Main street!!!

Had my oil change done. Cost was on point, however upon asking them about changing the fuel filter they said it would cost 90 $. I knew right away it was a ridiculous price to charge. My filter for my truck is at lordco of 12 $. It’s relatively simple and fast to replace. 90 $ yaaaah right!
Also I was told when arriving that it was on first come first serve basis. Fine, i said. Not the first time I’ve been to Mr Lube. I was simply asking so that I could park accordingly in the bay that was most convenient. I waited about 40 minutes to get in with one car behind me. Another car showed up and drove right in. The manager then came to me and gave me two options. Move over to the other bay or wait 5 minutes for the bay I was parked in front of. I just about lost my mind.
Usually have decent service at Mr Lube but these guys on Main are sub par!

I was in the line up and decided to check Unilocal reviews fit this Mr Lube. I started to freak out a bit because of the poor reviews.
I decided to go ahead anyway and have my oil changed.
So a bit on the expensive side, apparently my vehicle didn’t qualify for the standard package and I had to go up one package.
Other than that, the guys were professional
On the plus side i got was given a free newspaper to read and they also have free wifi.
Will I come here again? Not sure. Their price is not competitive and there service wasn’t spectacular to make me want to go there again.

Came here are spent $ 208 dollars to get general lube and maintenance done. Car was completed in a timely manner. Customer service was good.

For a place such as this, any stars are out of the question.
Came in for a basic oil change. I know quite a bit about cars, and I expected the typical upselling of unnecessary services from this place, therefore, I made sure my car needed nothing else other than an oil change. I simply said «don’t need it buddy» to anything they tried to upsell me.
However, before I came in, I marked my oil filter with the number «4». I came home, jacked my car up, and I see its the same filter that i wrote the «4» on, and I came to realize that the work was never even done, not to mention that their «superior» synthetic oil package isn’t even true genuine synthetic oil, but rather recycled cheap oil that they put in quality brand containers to make it seem legitimate.
Upselling is one thing. Flat out deceiving someone for a profit is a whole different story. I have never been to such a deceitful, dishonest company.
The next morning I went back for an explanation. The technician who serviced my vehicle said he had simply «forgot» to put a new filter in. I had a colleague of mine who went here for a radiator service, realizing days later that his engine is starting to wear out prematurely due to wrong type of coolant/​anti-​freeze being put in his car.
Unqualified/​teenage apprentice mechanics, who know nothing about cars, and deceitful salesmen that lie to your face to get an extra buck in their paycheque.
If you have a car that needs fixing, and you want to PAY with your hard– earned money to break it even more, then this is the place for you!

I came to this location in panic with a flat tire. Although they don’t currently have the equipment to fix tires, I was lucky enough to have them take off my flat and put on my spare, all free of charge. I was taken aback by their generosity and great customer service. I would recommend this location to anyone.

I’ve been going to these guys for the last 4 years. They get the job done and haven’t tried to upsell me. Simple oil change and when needed they will tell me if I need to change the filter. They are very friendly, always offer coffee, tea or water while you wait for your service. Thanks for maintaining my car!

These guys are conmen. Do NOT go there. The oil is recycled. Ruined my car because of these. STAY AWAY.

So you drive up and state you need a oil change. Seems simple enough. During the conversation the dude says oh what oil do you regularly use? My boyfriends states 10W30 and the dude replies that for a car this old (24yrs old at 272,000 km) that he really should be using high mileage oil.
At no time is it stated that the difference between the «standard» fee and this «better» oil translates to $ 75 from the brochure stated cost of $ 50.
When finally done and presented we are of course not pleased and the outright hall of the technician as a reply is that we’re we not looking at the two tone computer screen to the left of the car?! Apparently that was the only indication of cost difference.
He isn’t sorry and doesn’t have a problem with the fact he upsold us and didn’t mention costs at any point — in fact it was presented as if it cost the same.
Incredible arrogance. Unbelievable. He is adamant at our stating no costs were discussed when the «high mileage» oil was suggested.
Don’t go here. They obviously make it common practice to screw you over.

I wish I had checked on Unilocal before going here for an oil change yesterday:
*I had already been waiting 25 mins when they allowed someone who arrived10 mins after me, to go ahead.
*Someone came over to ask if I was okay (I looked angry), I told him what happened and he then offered me a newspaper and said he would start working on my car while it wasn’t in the dock…
*no newspaper arrived.
*no work beforehand.
*when I finally got to pull in the guy was super rude to me and barely gave me the time of day (and also didn’t offer me coffee or a paper, which is supposed to be standard).
*the girl who got to go ahead of me left, 3 mins after I pulled into the dock.
I will never give my business to this Mr. Lube again. I’d rather drive another 20 mins to a different location, then give my money here.

Very dangerous place to go. If u wanna commit suicide, feel free to go in. Spent over $ 300 for anything they suggested to change because I wanted to make sure it’s safe for my family trip. I have baby less than a year and old mom. Technician was trainee and he was all by himself. He was confused from time to time and asked others but didn’t get enough support. Anyhow, he didn’t close a hose which connect Coolen pipes. Coolen leaked during my trip and almost blew up my engine. My whole family stuck on street out of no where for few hours till some ppl came for help.
Went back to this store for refund. Only asked for the poor service refund; didn’t ask for any damage or hazards caused to my family. Manager Alex said he can’t. He said he can only gave me one free regular oil change and two movie tickets… and told me I wouldn’t get anything if I go complain head quarter. He was right. I complain to head quarter. No response from them for a week. I will report to BBB and any other customer protection organization. This isn’t over!
Alright, the engine check light is on. Good job Mr. Lube! It’s a new car with only 50 000 KM and I really hope u didn’t burn the whole engine!

Terrible service, over charged, got sucked into paying $ 200 for an oil change, never again I’m I using them. I called the headquarters they never called back. Go somewhere else, trust me

Unqualified mechanics, pushy salesmen.
Was talked into getting my belts done. They would later come off while driving in traffic. Ever lost power steering while your driving? It sucked. These guys shouldn’t be allowed to touch anything other than an oil filter.

Been there 3 times. First time they legitimately offered an engine flush as I was double the KM over the last recommended change.
However on my second visit they recommended a change of the differential fluid I said no and a few days later went to my mechanic to ask and he advised the fluid was fine. And they also lost my power steering fluid cap on this trip
third time they recommended it again… only a few months after actually having it changed by my mechanic… purely dishonest.
I’ve stopped going there, although the basic oil change is fast and easy they have proven themselves dishonest and I cannot condone such behavior.

I used to stop at this location because it was easy and visible, but I won’t be doing that anymore.
The second to last time I was here I just had a plain old oil change. Whatever. But then my oil leaked everywhere and nothing would stay in my car for longer than a couple of weeks. So I went back. The guy who changed my oil this last time was perplexed to find that the previous oil filter used on my car was the wrong size. For some reason the guy who’d changed it the previous time just didn’t give a shit about giving me the right oil filter and just crammed one on that didn’t fit. Nice. Really professional… which I’ve heard is not a requirement for working at Mr. Lube. Professional and knowledgeable, properly trained to do the work, just isn’t apparent here. I can’t trust a vehicle to be safe if it passes through this place.
I’ll find a different oil change company from now on. Any good suggestions out there?

I know everyone has their panties in a knot over these kinds of places. («BUT THEY TRY TO UPSELL ME EVERYTHINGGGGG!!!») But I don’t really understand why. If they offer something you don’t want or need, say no. If they are insistent and you know it is wrong, leave. Apparently this is challenging for some!
For one, I have no fear of Mr. Lube and this location was exactly as my rating reflects — A-​OK.
Went in for a basic oil change, the guy was quick and quiet for the most part. He tried to upsell me to a more expensive change with a «premium» oil, I simply said no thanks. That was that. He didn’t touch the vehicle without confirming what I wanted done, common practice I would think.
I also requested to have a burned out tail light replaced, which was done quickly and without any fuss at all. The billing was correct, and they showed me on the screen before I even handed them a form of payment. The worker was polite and efficient, not top level customer service, but that isn’t what I was expecting anyhow.
All in all, I was satisfied with this Mr. Lube experience.
But realistically fellow Unilocalers, if you can’t stick up for yourself and just say NO when they are suggesting or upselling for the sake of convenience (I’ve heard far too many people say «well I was already there ANYWAYS») then swallow the bill and smile.

I know that part of any service type job upselling is a requirement. However attempting to dupe the customer is not.
My first and last experience at this location had the guy mixing my transmission fluid with oil to look dirty and try and sell me a transmission flush. Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I;m an idiot who does not take care of their car.
Somehow I ended paying almost $ 80 bucks and have no idea why?

I tolerate the upselling with a simple no thank you, the oil only, but they have all sorts of angles, I just say no thanks, the oil change is a lost leader and this place is easy for me on a Saturday morning.
Last week they first were going to put in the wrong oil which I assume was cheaper for them, I corrected the guy. Then when he did the light check he said my rear right hand turn signal was out «would you like it changed???», I said no thanks I have the bulbs and will do it myself when I get home, well when I got home it was fine. How many people say, ok and never get out of their vehicle and get a new bulb for a light they can’t see from the driver’s seat.
I will go elsewhere from now on.

Beware the up-​sell!
I got my oil changed here last week, and I was told I needed a transmission flush, a fuel system cleaning, and the fuel filter serviced. I was slightly suspicious and so declined the suggestions. Instead I went to Canadian Tire and asked them to check. Two mechanics there looked at my car and said, «No, it all looks fine. We wouldn’t do anything right now.»
What does that suggest? That Canadian Tire is turning away perfectly valid business? Or that Mr Lube turns a profit by capitalizing on the trust (and perhaps ignorance) of its customers?

Everyone (apparently) knows that Mr. Lube is known for heavy upselling services you may or may not need. Well I didn’t know that before I got there. I also didn’t know the price of an oil change! And before I knew it, I was roped into a $ 50 oil change! wtf? other places charge $ 30-​$ 40! Well they did give me a newspaper to read and some water while I sat in my car while they worked on it.
They did the oil change, but also convinced me to flush the engine ($ 20) because I guess it was gunky and built up. They also convinced me to have the transmission fluid changed because who knows when it was changed last and apparently it’s supposed to be cherry red (they showed me) but mine actually looked chestnut brown (they showed me). That cost $ 150 though! :(So all in all, I went in for a simple oil change and it ended up costing me $ 220.
However, my car did run better after this. I could feel the difference. And I never would have known this stuff going for an oil change at any of my other usual (cheaper) places. So… i don’t think I will spend $ 50 on an oil change again any time soon, but I should thank them for helping my car run better.
