Murchie’s Fine Tea

Came in on a Sunday early afternoon. I was the only person in the store. I went in and knew exactly what I wanted. Therefore, the sales did not need to explain anything to me. However, the young sale did not seem to be too friendly and did not seem to want to serve any customer. Young lady with dark long hair. Anyways, got what I wanted and left.

This Murchies location is just ok. The service felt rushed and not very thorough even though I was the only person in the store. When asked details about how to steep the tea the sales person really didn’t seem to know much. I found the staff at Granville Island Tea Company and at Neverland Tea Salon are much more knowledgeable and definitely seem more interested in their customers and in general excited about selling tea. I am kind of missing that here.
The teas are pretty good but generally are on the bitter side. I love the Snowflake tea, though.

Great place to buy tea. They have very good collection of teas, some are better than others. Usually prefer the non flavoured teas which they have many to choose from. Much better than Davids tea. They also many tea pots and cups to buy, many made in England. Some of their teas are made specially for the Royal fily when threy visited Canada.

This place has a good selection of tea. As well, they have interesting tea pots for sale. But again mostly ceramic. This really depends what you like. Also they do have samplers for you to try. Bought things here before but I would prefer other stores like tazo or David’s tea. Probably because of the service

I admit that I’m no tea connosieur though I try to drink more of it, especially during dim sum, jasmine is barely passable.
Here, I lIke their traditional look, as opposed to contemporary Davids Tea. They have the lemon drop sample to try today.
Lots of gadgets to buy here for the tea fan as well as gift ideas, as per pic. A small compact store, with Kona coffee beans, their 100% Arabic beans so it is less acidic, not as strong. Good lesson fr Bella.
Their signature is their blending of black and green teas since 1894!

I had to make two visits to this place ’cause the first time was on the way to a party and I didn’t want to be that retail jerk that comes in 5 minutes before closing. The second visit was a bit more relaxed as I could look at selections of tea. I have a go to place and some of the flavors are hit and miss with me. I like their accessories and there are tea pots etc. for every personality. They will also do tea baskets for you which is a huge plus. The lady at the til was super sweet and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. This place is easy to get to on the 99 b line near Granville. On a hot day they will even make your tea iced… eat that Starbucks.

I always catch the 99 B-​Line at Broadway and Granville, and was pleasantly surprised to see that a Murchie’s recently opened up! I’m a fan of Murchie’s Tea, and have a decent collection sitting in my tea cupboard.
The store itself is relatively small. The left wall is full of teapots, teacups, and beautiful Royal Albert china that is almost too gorgeous to drink tea out of. The right wall is full of pre-​packaged tea bags and loose leaf tea. They sell a lot of tea samplers for $ 4.25, which includes 10 tea bags (or loose leaf). They also sell the tea samplers in pre-​packaged sets of 4 for $ 15.95. Along the back wall behind the cashiers is a decent sized collection of loose leaf tea’s. Some would say it’s a bit pricey, but it’s not that much different than Bayswater Tea Company, or David’s Tea for that matter.
The staff at this Murchie’s location are super friendly, and are very eager to offer your samples of their tea of the day. If you’re in the market for new tea to try, I really like their fruit tea’s (Mango, Raspberry, Strawberry) and Library Blend. If you’re in the area, check it out!
