We hired Nichols to do a complete overhaul of the back yard of our townhouse. We gave a absolute maximum budget of $ 7,000. The work was half done when we were presented with invoices for the work done to date plus the work left to be done totalling $ 10,900PLUS the cost of plants. When we protested, we cut a deal with Nichols to reduce the scope of work and get just the basics done for our original budgeted amount. The quality of the work was atrocious. We had a wood planter and seating assembly built, and it was built so high off the patio that our feet don’t touch the patio when sitting on the benches. The whole patio now has to be raised, which will require more fill to be brought in to raise the level of half the yard. Nichols did not install a waterproof membrane in the wood planter section of the bench, and all the soil and plants will have to be removed and waterproofing applied. Sod was laid before 2 days of carpentry work instead of at the end of the job, resulting in the sod being ruined by the workers and lumber. We are currently seeking quotes to have the work rectified, as Nichols flatly refused to address the deficiencies. We filed a complaint with the BBB, but Nichols is not BBB-accredited, so the BBB could not help us. Avoid Nichols Gardenscaping and Frank and Zach Nichols at all cost.
