* I hate wasps * I hate wasps. I absolutely hate them. The world would be a better place without them. This place has a serious wasp issue. And I don’t mean the White Anglo Saxon Protestant type. I mean the flying stinging type. I saw lots of wasps buzzing around near the open door after I ordered and sat down and I just quietly tried to ignore them. Then I saw the mother of all wasps fly in. This thing was HUGE! I’m glad the wasps got more interested in the empty gelato cup sitting on the next table than my food. I finished my food quickly and got out of there before an «encounter.» Anything to avoid wasps! Now the wasp issue aside, this spot really sounds much better than it is. I got pulled in by the sign that read«spicy lamb sausage» and had to try it. What I got was a pre-packaged lamb sausage(a rather short one I may add) on an olive baguette with a few tomato slices, some sauerkraut and some gherkin pickles. Somehow the flavours just didn’t combine well. There was way too much going on. The olives in the baguette really overpowered the other flavours and it just didn’t work for me. The quality of the baguette was also pretty poor — kind of like a supermarket variety. Overall this place is skipable. I won’t be returning. After all, if there is one thing I hate more than wasps it is low quality food that pretends it is more than it is.

Went with a girlfriend for a spot to eat after the main lunchtime rush, if there was such a thing. Had high hopes — menu looked good, not the cheapest place, but thought we’d give it a try. I had the spicy lamb sausage(not merguez) sandwich, which was very underwhelming. Hot sausage, in a bit of wholemeal French stick, with tomato relish and STACKS of sliced up gherkin. The sandwich was about 4″ long and came with nothing else — all for the bargain price of $ 8…hmmmm. Friend’s smoked salmon sandwich was similar. Shame really, because it looks so inviting from the outside. Oh, we had actually been heading fro Grub, which we discovered doesn’t open at lunch, hence ending up here. Can think of many other places worth spending your $.
