The Golden State Warriors were on and we were looking for a bar to watch the game. Being in Canada, I tried Unilocaling sports bars basketball, but few came up that actually mentioned basketball in the reviews. Since there were two bars across the street, we just decided to go and check them out. No luck. Both bars were playing hockey and American football. We decided to walk down Robson and bumped into Joe’s. And guess what?! They were playing the game! We walked in Saturday, January 16th at 5:20pm. *Queso fundido($ 12.50): creamy spiced cheese dip with crumbled chorizo sausage, caramelized onions, and peppers, garnished with cilantro, and served with crispy flour tortillas for dipping *Calamari($ 11.50): lightly breaded with jalapenos, slivered onions and bell peppers, served with house made tzatziki *Original joe’s blond lager($ 6.50 for 18oz): clear, classic, balanced *Original joe’s red ale($ 6.50 for 18oz): smooth, malty flavour *Jack daniels and coke($ 6.50ea x3) The cheese dip was good! Came out bubbling hot! To me, you can’t go wrong with ooey gooey cheese and chorizo. Yum! They give you lime to squeeze on top. I tried a couple bites with lime and it really mellows out the flavor. I actually preferred the dip without the citrus. You get the full savoriness of the dip. The calamari was average. I didn’t think it went well with the tzatziki, but to each his own. Both beers I ordered were okay. I’m not a big beer drinker, but I wanted something to sip on. The blond lager was way too light for me. The ale was a little better. The jack and cokes were very little in size, but according to the roommate, packed a small punch. He can’t really drink, but had 3 of them. Service was a little too attentive. When we walked in, we told them we were here to watch the Warriors game. They even switched one of the TVs to the game since we had a better view of that screen from our table. But our waitress kept checking up on us, asking if we were done. We told her several times we were slowly eating and watching the game, but she kept checking. Did they need the table? From the looks of all the empty tables, they didn’t, so I was confused. Ended up leaving before the game was over as the Warriors weren’t doing well and I was feeling like they wanted us to leave. Great place to catch the game while having small plates. I just wish they didn’t make us feel rushed. Note: They have free WiFi! Just ask for the password.

Joe’s is one of my favourite places to go to watch football, or before a soccer/hockey game. Portion sizes are excellent, food quality is consistent. The service is always friendly, and quite attentive given how busy they are. Best things to get are the pulled pork and the Cajun chicken cheddar burger. Biggest benefit is getting TWOSIDES!

It’s listed as good for kids but I would argue it is NOT! At least not young kids. They do not have high chairs or booster seats. It’s difficult to relax or enjoy yourself if you are trying to keep a 21 month old corralled.

i decided to get out of the cold(relative term for Vancouver) so I went to the New original Joes on Robson for the first time since it is close to work. The décor was very inviting as I watched football on Black Friday. The service was very good. I started with the tomato bacon soup with soft cheese bread. Wow that was totally awesome!!! it really hit the spot. I had my usual fish and chips and it was great like it always with the dill tartar sauce. The price was pretty reasonable too. Needless to say i was very impressed and would definitely recommend this establishment for people going to events at BC place

I work next door so a few friends and I decided to try for lunch. We waited 30 minutes for our meal. When they finally brought the food out they brought 3 of our 4 lunches and we had to wait another 5 minutes for our friends lunch to arrive. The food was ok but nothing to write home about, you can get better for less money in the neighbourhood. Likely wont bother going back, while the reno’s are very nice it’s not much better than Rosie’s was.

This place used to be where Rosie’s was. The place is a lot cleaner and modern but then again, it is a pub so as modern as you can get. The server we had was great, very friendly, funny and quick. We had the window seat at the back. You can people watch which we did as something was happening as an ambulance, police and advanced life team was just outside across the street. Some friends had ordered the nachos and wings. The basket for the nachos was big so really good to share with a few people. I wasn’t there for the wings as I came a bit late. We were watching the Whitecaps and Canucks game. I ordered the ribs with the honey slaw and sweet potato fries. I didn’t really taste any honey in the slaw and it was a bit dry so maybe it was missing the sauce. The sweet potato fries was ok, it was soft and not crispy. The ribs was a little dry, there was some sauce on it from when it was cooked but no extra sauce. Normally you would lick your fingers after eating but I barely had any sauce on my fingers. I almost didn’t need the wet nap but I used it anyway since I’ll be holding my phone later and didn’t want to leave any mark on it. It would be a good place for some drinks after the game as it is only a couple of blocks away from BC Place, and a few blocks from Rogers Arena.

Had dinner at Original Joes recently, only because it was attached to the hotel we were staying at in Vancouver and DH was too tired to drive anywhere else. He had a bad impression of Original Joes from the one on our hometown, but the menu looked good so we gave it a shot. Boy, we were not disappointed. I asked for a window seat, and we got the corner window, best seats for people watching! The servers were very friendly and attentive and there were lots of choices on the menu. The restaurant is clean and new. We shared a plate of baby back ribs, with sides of Cesar salad for me and DH had the West Coast Chop. Everything we shared, everything oh so good! We also had a plate of Naan bread and hummus. Everything tasted SO good. DH had a glass of red wine that he said was excellent — and the serving size was generous enough so that one glass was plenty. Finally, the check arrived and it didn’t break the bank. I recommend this place for good food, service and value for your money.

I go to a lot of concerts and games at Rogers Arena and BC Place and am always in the area to eat dinner or have drinks before events, so I had high hopes for when I found out that a new bar/restaurant was opening just down the street. I had walked past Rosie’s many times(the bar/restaurant that this location was before) and always found it dark, dingy, and overall not very appealing. First of all, I really appreciated how much work Original Joe’s put into transforming the place into a cleaner, more welcoming, comfortable environment with different levels and intimate seating. Sadly however, that’s as impressed as I was able to get with this place. Firstly, my girlfriend and I ordered drinks. I had a beer, which you can’t really go wrong with, and she had a virgin lime margarita slush. The margarita had absolutely no flavour. It was literally like drinking a water slushie with maybe half a teaspoon of lemon juice added to it. We flagged down the server and told her that the margarita had no flavour and asked if they could make it taste morelike an actual margarita. The server was really nice about it, which I appreciate. But when we got it back, the server explained that they added a «splash of simple syrup and a bit of orange juice» to it… WHAT!!! It didn’t taste any better or even any different to the first one but my girlfriend didn’t want to make a scene or anything so we just didn’t complain any further. It didn’t get any better once the food came. I ordered the 3 fish tacos, which were more like mixed green tacos with tiny pieces of fish the size of my pinky per taco. My girlfriend ordered the calamari(severely overcooked and difficult to chew or even swallow) and the yam fries(you would think they used some kind of new species of yam that was more black than orange because the yam fries were a very dark brownish black colour). NOTIMPRESSED overall. For anyone who enjoys sweet/tangy, flavourful margaritas(even the virgin kind) and fish tacos(or any kind of taco really), I would highly suggest skipping Original Joe’s and head to Patron Tacos & Cantina just across the street.

I’m certain that their pub experience is fantastic, but their brunch was pretty lackluster. An eggs benedict with deep-fried hashbrowns, pasty hollandaise, and overcooked eggs, served with a bitter, overbrewed coffee and a $ 3.50 bar-gun Minute Maid orange juice, in an environment where it’s impossible to escape the almost oppressive number of televisions. I should have known that a restaurant that was almost completely empty at 11:00 on a weekend, mere weeks after its opening, would have a pretty depressing breakfast experience.
