Posy Nail Spa

I’m a writer. I’m self-​employed. I don’t have heaps of disposable income to spend on spa and salon treatments. Every Monday, Posy on Homer has a pedicure special for $ 27… So once every three to four weeks, I pop in for the very best affordable pedicure you can get in this city. I’ve been to lots of other nail salons who give sub-​par services on discount days. Not Posy! The salon is clean and tidy. Nail instruments are medically sterilized between treatments. The massage chairs are excellent. The women who work here are professional, friendly, and thorough. I always feel welcomed, and valued as a customer. You can make an appointment, but they’re almost always able to take walk-​ins if you’re not particular about your esthetician. Which you shouldn’t be, because they are all amazing. They also have a stamp card, which basically amounts to buy 10 pedicures, get one free.

Getting acrylics shouldn’t cause an infection and weeks of pain!

Great nail spa. Very friendly and professional, and services are well priced. My favourite thing is the express mani/​pedi option — in and out in an hour, and that includes drying time. Highly recommended.

Such inconsistent service!!! Went three weeks ago and had a fantastic manicure and manicurist! pleasant enough, but most importantly did a good job. I went back today to get my shellac redone on my fingers and toes, the «regular» girls weren’t there, and the girls I had (yes plural, as three of them worked on my hands and feet together) were totally inexperienced and not very good. One was clearly new and no one was helping her figure out what to do so she took FOREVER, the second one filed all my nails completely crooked, like seriously crooked and the third one was decent. Unfortunately an hour in they had only removed my shellac on my fingers and therefore I had to cancel my manicure. Totally disappointed. Especially when they then charged me for the removal when they should have been rebooking me for a new apt to finish my fingers and charge me once. Just a disappointing service overall and a drastic difference from my experience last time. I wish it were more consistent. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth to come back.

I’m really happy with my, first ever, gel/​shellac manicure and pedicure. Nice hand, arm, lower leg and foot massage. I didn’t feel rushed or talked into anything. I had two women work on me at the same time which was pretty neat-​o. Very thorough, and smooth soles!
I lucked out with metered parking right out front. They take appointments and I had one for 11, but came early and they got me in the foot soaker tub right away. It was a weekday.

My fiancé and I went in for mani pedis (I insisted he get one!). When I booked the appointment, I asked for the express package. It was only a few days until our wedding so we were tight on time. When we got there I again tried to make sure that it would only take an hour, they assured me that it would… My fiancé was fine, they got two people working on him at once, and he was done in less than an hour. Forty minutes into my session, however, they told me that they didn’t have anyone to work on my hands and that it would take an hour and a half. I told them that was why I asked, I wouldn’t have sat down if it wasn’t going to be done in an hour. They told me to come back the next day to get the manicure, which I would have to pay full price for (not getting the mani pedi deal). Eventually, they did accommodate me coming back the next day for free, but it took a bit of a hissy fit on my part. Only go if you have time!

I’ve been here a few times and sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s not. They get quite busy here and rather than tell you to come back, they make you wait and rush everything. I even had a girl leave in the middle of removing Shellac polish. She just stood up and left to serve a other client! But I’ve also had my nails done when the place is less busy and it’s been fine. So overall, hit or miss. For the price you pay, I guess it’s okay.

They do a decent job and I like their early week day specials. However, my last two gel manis only lasted a week and were easy to peel off. And once or twice they took off my skin while buffing. That happens almost everywhere I go. I don’t really like scabs on my fingers.
The staff are friendly (the wait can be long) but overall I would say they’re not all that bad. Haven’t had any really terrible experiences like I did with Splashie.
Anyway I’ll probly be going back again (making sure they don’t cut me) or see Adam at Element Spa depending on who’s not busy at the time.

Update: it’s only been 10 days and my gelish nails have chipped. Usually gelish nails last a good 3 weeks for me. So this is unusual and disappointing.

Wide range of colours, comfy seats and the DVDs are good! If you go after 6pm they will tell you that their location on Pacific Blvd opens late– til 9pm even though not advertised ;)

Garbage.
No attention to detail whatsoever and they make you feel like they might pretend to give a shit. I understand that if you get some nails put on it might look good but a regular manicure looked like trash. Barely cleaned off the top nail layer now that I look at it carefuly. It was my fault for not saying anything. just terrrrrrrible attention to detail.

Pretty small, but efficient! This has been one of the better nail places I’ve been to in Vancouver so far.
Worth noting:
1. Call ahead and make an appointment, but still expect a bit of a wait.
2. They don’t have many chairs, and the magazine selection is tight so bring a book or, better yet, headphones so you don’t have to listen to Yaletown girls rehashing their hookups from the night before.
3. Metered parking on the street.

I recently had my nails done here and everything about the experience was great and the service was great as well. My only complaint was that I got OPI shellac and as opposed to using the shellac base and top coat it appears they used an acrylic tip and base. This unfortunately damages your nails and takes much longer to takes off appropriately. I wish that if you say that you do shellac that you actually use real shellac products and don’t try to save money by using inferior product, or just let me know so I can make an informed decision. This is the second time this has happened to me at a Vancouver salon so I’m not sure if anyone does real shellac nails.

Clean, friendly, quality service. Kind of a small space and it did take an hour and a half for a mani/​pedi (non-​gel). But they did a great job and I wasn’t in a rush. I’m sure they would have hurried had I asked.
Great location too. About a 15 min walk (5min cab ride) from The Sutton, where I was staying. And right around the corner from the Yaletown, Rodney’s Oyster House. What more could a girl ask for?

I’m ridiculously picky when it comes to my nails so it fills my heart with joy to look down on my nails and see essentially uninterrupted colour.
I got a gel manicure which cost $ 35 before tax which is the same as Splashie but the quality was superior. I got an actual hand massage.
Sure, you’re not going to get fawned over and there will be plenty of non-​English conversations you won’t get to partake in but I’m pretty happy given the price.
There were, however, times when I was genuinely worried that she was too engrossed in the Simpsons episode on tv to pay enough care to my nails.
Also, note that at some point you’ll be asked to stand up and cross the room to wash your hands at the sink. That was pretty odd to me.
But in general, this is a pretty good value for the price point and I will go back for my next manicure/​pedicure needs.

Lovely place and people who work there.
They do a great job that’s why they are always busy.
I was disappointed a couple times though with long wait, but I still go there because i love their services. So it’s better to call there prior to your visit.

My pal and I had to wait for almost a half hour before anything got to happening. But that fact aside…
Damn my nails look good. These girls do great work for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is no muss no fuss — definitely not a place to go for a spa type time. Just get in, get out.
They really seem to over book here — it was pretty disorganized, so maybe consider that into your plans.
