My wife and I went to Prontino last night(Friday) as we were in the neighbourhood. Our server Steve greeted us at the door and sat us at our table. With his fun and welcoming personality we enjoyed our gnocchi and prawn pasta. Adults only on the Prontino side, kids allowed on the adjoining Pronto side. With a covered and heated patio we’ll be back. Thanks for the nice service Steve!

What a delight to find such a gem by chance! We all went here for predrinks before movie because we wanted something closeby and quiet but upbeat place to have a drink. While we were there we had great service and the bar tender said the food is excellent too. Coming from a real Italian I trusted him and kept it in my mind to go when an opportunity arises. Well a week later, we went here for a special occasion and it was the best decision we made, taking a chance too knowing that Vancouver is full of mediocre restaurants. Well everything from service,(the same bar tender, Mateo served us) to the excellent Italian food served very generously, and the European– like ambiance! you don’t even feel like you are in Vancouver. The conversation went from grateful dead to choosing music over sex! Yes, I love europens for this… real candid and honest conversation with no mention of the weather:) This will be a high on my list for excellent casual Italian food and its so close by to our house, definitely a local gem! Thumbs up to the chef, whom I took a peek and he definitely knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. His italian mama taught him well.

This is a favorite, casual date night spot. Perfect for a Friday night after work when staying in would make you feel… old. Nice little cocktail list, impressive tonic selection. We tend to steer away from the entrée menu and try the tapas on special — proper little coastal Italian bites with a local focus. Never fails they will have something containing octopus in a way you’ve never tried before. We prefer the bar side. Probably because we are childless drinkers ;)

That’s a pretty good place that actually makes good cocktails out of mid-range liquors and vermouths. I appreciated the Negroni I had there. I would like to come back to combine with the food next door that I know is very good. To be tested again

Food was fine. Drinks were good. Unfortunately the bartender had just been offered a job at another bar so was coasting through the night being inattentive.

Consistently tasty food and great drinks. Cozy, unpretentious and very welcoming. Great if you want to catch happy hour and then hit the Park Theatre for a movie with your date.

For my first visit, I think Prontino/Pronto is pretty good. I really like the space. Pronto feels casual and Prontino feels a little less casual but it’s still not uppity. The bar looks great and I really like the gin list. I think the menu can be laid out a little better but that’s only a minor thing. I had the Tagliatelle Aglio e Olio which I thought was pretty good but the noodle was a touch overdone. I’d prefer the pancetta to be crispy; the texture of it kind of reminded me of sandwich ham. My slight disappointment is that there aren’t many pastas with tomato sauce because, as my caption reads, I’m a tomato sauce whoooooooore. I’d like to come back to see if my experience improves but I’ll still keep my favourite Italian resto in Vancouver.

I love this place. A bartender who cares more about his craft than trying to be cool. Great antipasti(olives, bread & oil, garlic white beans), and some seriously awesome cocktails. Plus a very pleasant art deco style atmosphere.

Dropped in for some drinks and immediately felt welcomed like I was hanging out with a good friend. Not sure of our bartender’s name, but he listened to what kind of drinks we liked and made suggestions that turned out to be be excellent. He greeted a few people by name as they came in and immediately asked if they wanted the usual or if they were in the mood for something different. They offer a variety of gin as well as tonics, so you can mix and match. I had one of the sloe gins mixed with Fentiman’s tonic = so good! Cozy décor and quick friendly service.

My interest was piqued as there were no reviews after Prontino had been open for at least a week. I was excited to try a place that was linked to the likeable, retro-mod diner known as Pronto(next door). I walked in to a welcoming, clearly new, neighbourhood bar that was reminiscent of so many UWS watering holes, but certainly unique to this area, if not Vancouver. We were greeted by two friendly bartenders who were all too happy to serve us one of their specialty cocktails, and I appreciated their earnestness. The drink menu was extensive and creatively named. I could tell that the locals had already made this their home, and it reminded me of a grown up version of Barney’s. Contrary to what was entered on Unilocal, they were no longer serving food after 11, much to our disappointment. Too bad as the meatballs looked really tasty – at least they did by the description on the menu. I wasn’t in the mood for a big meal, but I was curious about their reasonably priced pasta dishes, entrees and burrata salad. I appreciated that we could share our own two seater booth, but the bar area seemed to offer the preferential seats; at least that’s how it appeared as patrons looked to have made themselves permanent fixtures here. As far as first impressions go, while it did not offer the late night selection as some of those local chains we all love to hate, it was certainly a quiet place to drink that was fitting for the ‘hood. It did lack the quaintness and nostalgia of Pronto next door, but the vibe suited the cocktail atmosphere. It could still be quiet since it’s so new, but it was missing that extra bit of energy that would bring me rushing back here sooner rather than later. Perhaps l if they decide to offer Pronto’s delectable pork sandwiches as a late night menu item it just might rise to the top of my list. Maybe that’s a suggestion the proprietor could consider, and one that would give this place a boost.
