Cool little microbrewery with some great pricing on growlers. We happen to walk in on a tasting and got some really great pours for $ 5 donation. We will definitely be back! Archie, the guy behind the counter, was funny and excited to be working for a place like R & B and to share beer knowledge in general.

Check out r and b’s tasting room. U get to try a whole bunch of their beers and it doubles as a growler refill station! Super friendly staff! My favourite beer here is the sun god which is a wheat ale. Super light and easy to drink in the summer. The esb(east side bitter) also really good and has a malty taste that is actually not bitter at all(no idea what the ibu is). I’ve also had the cream ale which is sweet and good as an anytime beer, and has that’s great cream ale finish, check it out!

Stopped by yesterday and sampled some beers. You can try them all for a donation. The East Side Bitters and the Lager were excellent. It’s a very no frills brewery with funky décor. There’s a serving counter with taps drilled into the side of the wall, and that’s it. Staff member was extremely knowledgable. Would give a 5⁄5 if it was licensed to sell pints and had a seating area

I was 10 when these guys started getting people drunk. I’ve had their beers at different restaurants/bars over the years and finally went to the source. They have a small standing-only tasting area amidst their production area(recently renovated). Dudes are super chill as in Hawaii chill. Samples are generous when deciding on your fill. I like their Raven Cream Ale and Red Devil Pale Ale. Some seasonals are pretty good too. Parking is usually easy and free. Hours though are kind of limited(for now).

Happy to say I liked their House Ale — I think it was referred to as «Gayle»…. Very UNHAPPY I missed the cucumber mint beer though. Will drive past a couple of other breweries on the way to fill up here. GREATPRICETOO!

R&B is now selling growlers on Saturdays from 2 – 6 pm at their 4th Ave Brewery. If you bring your own clean growler, a fill is $ 10. If you don’t have a growler, you can buy one of theirs, filled, for only $ 15. And then refill it next Saturday, for $ 10. Only Ten Bucks, People. For 1.9 litres of delicious, delicious R&B beer. This is, by far, the best beer deal I have encountered in Vancouver. Let’s show R&B the love and keep the beer flowing.

These guys are the real deal! Great craft beer and you do not need to be a hipster to enjoy.

Over the years, R & B has really impressed me. First encountered them at a convention years ago — eager and knowledgeable representatives generously pouring out tasty samplers and engaging in beer geek talk. Their range of brews are strong(their Red Devil Pale Ale probably being their most popular brew) and one of my favourite local brewers — their entire range is solid and accessible — so it was a no-brainer to come here to pick up a keg for a gathering. I’ve dealt with a few small, local microbreweries in my storied keg career: unofficial East Van beer bong champion [see and ranked pound-for-pound best from in ’05 — ’08. While it feels good to support the underdog, some places really need to get their shit together. However, the R&B representative, Leanna, was prompt, courteous and professional. Booking my keg was painless and simple — all the equipment I requested was set aside and was ready for me on pickup. And they went through a lot of trouble to tap a keg for me so I could sample their range to ensure I made the right decision. All my calls were returned quickly. This may not seem like much — but most places don’t seem to really want to bother with small sales and lack professionalism. To the guy at my last brewery: «Yes — I’m aware you live by me. And yes, I’m aware you’re down to party. And yes, I’m aware you looking to meet some women. But no — I’m not going to invite you to my kegger. You’re creepy, dude.» They offer 19L, 50L and 40L cask ‘party kits’ — and you can choose between a hand pump & keg bucket(if you want to relive your frat days) and CO2 driven draft dispenser — no extra charge, just a difference in deposit. I went with the Bohemian Lager — clean and easy-drinking for mass appeal, but still quite a bit of flavour for an American-style lager. Not my poison of choice — but it was definitely the right pick for a shindig full of non-beer-drinkers. Only one nitpick — R & B self describes itself as being ‘edgy, young, independent… definitely East Van.’ Yes, they are very close to East Van — but they are just west of Quebec St… literally ¼ block west of Quebec. Sorry guys — Quebec is the dividing line for me — it’s as serious as the 38th parallel in Korea to me. But I’ll overlook this offence since they are such a kickass brewery with an awesome staff.
