Ramada Vancouver Downtown

I really don’t know why this place has only 2 stars?! Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week and we LOVED every moment. Housekeeping and the front staff were so nice and we had no problem with them at all! Everything was clean and not once did it make us feel dirty at all.
The elevators do make a small creak here and there but nothing too alarming and the check in card demagnetized a couple times but nothing the front desk couldn’t fix! Wifi was a bit slow but we managed. If it’s really bothersome for you, you can make your way to Blenz coffee that’s a couple doors down and get wifi from there! (We recommend the hot chocolate) ;)
The view from our room was amazing as well and there is a bunch of amazing food places around there. Not to mention it’s like half a mile away from everywhere you want to be on Granville street! Don’t plan on renting a car because everything is walking distance from each other! Tons of amazing food places around there to choose from!
Downtown Vancouver has a busy nightlife on the weekends and it is true that there is a nightclub at the bottom of the hotel but we stayed on the 5^th floor so we didn’t have a problem with noise at all. If you left the window open you could hear a bit of it but it was below 40 degrees during our visit so we didn’t plan on having the window open anyways haha
Don’t be scared to stay here because of a few sensitive reviews! It was great!

Do NOT ignore the bad reviews of this hotel.
1. The hotel is indeed next to a night club with loud music that attracts people who are fond of hallucinogenic drugs.
2. The French lady at the front desk is rude and condescending. First off, don’t just demand the keys to my vehicle without explaining why. Explain that you have a valet service, and do it nicely, not in a way that indicates your guest is a peasant. Also, lose the general ‘tude. You aren’t actually any better than anyone else in this building, so pipe down.
3. The parking situation is a hot mess. Get it together.
4. The elevators are terrifying and making god awful noises.
5. The magnetic strips on the key cards suck, and had to be replaced every day.
6. No microwave or fridge in hotel room.
7. Sheets had pubic hairs on them. And chocolate stains (I hope). Gross.
8. Wifi did not work.
9. Fine line between hells fire and arctic tundra as far as shower water temperature goes.
10. No coffee provided in room for coffee pot. Just tea bags? Alright. Decaf tea nonetheless.
11. Curtains are unable to block out the street lights from outside. I felt like I was camping next to the sun.
All in all, the price wasn’t even that great, so I would never stay here again. Ever.

Our comforters weren’t washed!!! There was brown stain on the bed covers and sheets. It was gross :((((. It stank in the hall way. The only thing I liked about this hotel was the front desk staff they were very nice and welcoming also the location is convenient.

This hotel stinks, literally. My whole room smells like dried sweat. Walls are paper thin too, as other Unilocalers have mentioned in their reviews — you can hear everything around you. Might as well have no window, as it looks out into a dark fire escape. Would not stay here again.

Rooms were clean and spacious enough for the price. Location was good especially since I decided to treat this trip like a vegas trip being over a night club and all.
I was able to sleep okay because I’d get back every night at 2:30am exhausted. Earplugs would likely kill what noise you couldn’t stand. The wall are paper thin but that’s kind of expected for the price. I found the loud talking more bothersome than the bass heavy music. Overall okay.

Location — Location is the sole reason to stay at this Hotel. Keep in mind you are right beside a large, loud nightclub when staying here so the environment between 8pm-​3am on a weekend is very belligerent and reckless.
Quality of Hotel — This hotel is very, very dated. Check pictures other reviewers have posted, as they say «the proof in the pudding». We stayed in a junior suite that was dated and had one sink, but is «suitable for 6 persons».
The Hotel is dated from the walls, to the terrifying elevator ride to the extremely small Double beds, I’m 5’9 and my feet were hanging off the end of the bed.
Parking — I received inconsistent information from the staff here regarding parking regulations, which I found absolutely ridiculous. Through this hotel stay we were only allowed to book one vehicle in the extremely tight $ 18CAD parking space, in addition we have to leave our keys with the staff at the front desk. Therefore if you need to grab something from your car at anytime you have to check with the front desk staff to verify if your car is in the same place you left it first. I found this ridiculous and time-​wasting. If I had known the parking challenges were so immense with this hotel I would have looked harder at my other options.
I will likely never stay here again unless I have an event held on this side of Granville Street and NEED to find a hotel for the evening. I write this hotel not to dump on Ramada Granville, it is what it is, but to forewarn future visitors to this awesome city. Hotels are very expensive here unfortunately. It likely is a better decision to find a nicer place to stay and perhaps walk a bit longer to enjoy all Vancouver has to offer.

So this stay was the product of cheapness and Priceline name your own price gambling. The location was decent because you can walk to BC stadium, major shops and museums, as well as Granville Island, but I would not classify the location as family-​friendly. There are numerous cannabis dispensaries around and a club next door. My room was located on the club side so I heard thumping club music until the wee hours of the morning. There would usually be a lot of vomit on the sidewalks around the location too. Not ideal or terribly picturesque. I wouldn’t stay here again.

There is a club underneath all the rooms on the first floor. Stay here only if you plan on either going to bed after three or drinking heavily!

Much nicer than it was 10 years ago. If I had remembered it was the same one I probably wouldn’t have booked. The rooms are clean and nice looking. They are small but I don’t hang out in the room. Service was very pleasant. I would have given it another star if it wasn’t surrounded by pot shops. As a non-​user I don’t care for walking out the door and smelling it.

Do yourself a favor and find another place to stay. This place is above a twelve west night club. No exaggeration, I felt like I was in an earthquake until 3AM. The club plays really loud, bass thumping music as they should, I just didn’t realize the rooms were located above a nightclub. I would think they would have some sound insulation put in as the website states «remodeled» in 2010, but no. Rooms are tiny, parking is a joke and you will NOT sleep until after the club closes.
Read the reviews, and trust them… I was told about the club after I had booked, and thought it can’t be that bad, but it was and is!
Terrible place with terrible customer service.

The location was great for what we came for– partying for Halloween. It’s right downtown near all the clubs and bars.
Parking was pretty awful, they kinda did «valet» more like kidnapped my car and parked it underground all weekend or in the back alley, not sure why but they kept moving it.
The room was tiny and the floors were all uneven it was weird.
I wouldn’t stay there again but the price wasn’t bad.

I am not one to post reviews but I wanted to warn everyone about staying here! A dance club was built two weeks ago which is right next to the hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed here last night and the music was so loud that the whole room was shaking and we were unable to fall asleep. This music went on until 3:45am! We were staying on the first floor so I asked them to move us to a higher floor. They moved us but the music was still so loud that we still could not fall asleep.

Nice lobby, helpful staff, close to a lot of things in town but the hotel smells weird and the rooms could you a re-​design… I came here 2 years ago and nothing has changed.

Finishing up four nights at the hotel. Overall the experience was adequate. I chose the hotel because I wanted to be within walking distance of the West End and downtown. The hotel is also a short walk from main of the city’s great neighborhoods like Chinatown, Gastown and Yaletown. Very easy to get to from the airport thanks to the Skytrain, which stops 4 blocks from the hotel.
When I checked in, I was asked if I go out at night because music from the club (TwelveWest Social Club) at the hotel can impact the rooms. I was placed in room 508, which had no view but I assumed it would at least be quiet. The venue downstairs is a club, not a bar. Loud vibrations from the bar resonated nightly up to the fifth floor until 3AM when the venue closes. From what I can see, it appears the club is located in the same building as the hotel. I cannot understand why Ramada would rent the space to such a facility, if they own the building.
Additionally, the walls in the hotel are paper thin so you can hear everyone walking in the hallways and hear everything going on in the rooms above you.
The noise problems continued when on the first night, the fire alarm went off at 3:30am on the morning of October 11^th. It was a false alarm. The alarm then went off at 5pm on October 11^th. I spoke with the manager on duty who informed me that it was a guest who had pulled false alarms. I am not sure why this guest was not identified and handled the first time the alarm was pulled. Soon sighs were placed in hallways from the Vancouver Fire Department explaining that the pulling of false alarms is illegal. There were no more false alarms.
Besides the noise concerns the pluses and minuses include:
Rooms — the room was small but modern and clean. Brand new LG TV, new finishes in the room and a very large side hallway leading to the oversized bathroom. AC/​Heat unit on the wall that you can control.
Elevators — only two small elevators for the 6 floors. You also must have a room key to slide into the elevator to use it, which is a pain in my opinion. Visitors must be paged up by front desk staff.
Dining — there is a restaurant in the hotel and guests get 15% off for breakfast and lunch. I didn’t try the restaurant and free breakfast is not included, which is a downside. Have no fear though, there are about 15 coffee shops within walking distance. It should be noted, the other Ramada in downtown Vancouver does off free breakfast
WiFi — perfect. no complaints.
Service — the front desk staff is very helpful and polite
Housekeeping — there was an incident when I first checked in and I was walked in on twice by housekeeping staff, even though my room was already ready. Besides that, the staff was wonderful and timely cleaned the room so never had to worry about not having my room cleaned when I came back.
Overall, I would not stay here again due to the club on the first floor. If noise was not an issue, I would be back. Within blocks of the hotel, there is a Comfort Inn, Quality Hotel, Best Western, Holiday Inn, Howard Johnson, and a number of non chain hotels. I would investigate the prices at these chain hotels, all of which are comparable facilities.

You pay for the location. We picked this place because it was the weekend of the Vancouver Marathon and it was crazy crowded and busy. Rooms were $ 240 each for 2 double beds which is insane but honestly, everything is more expensive in Vancouver. There’s no pool, hot tub or any extras in this hotel. The lobby and rooms are tiny.
With that said, it’s clean enough, the staff is nice enough and the location can’t be beat. If you need a spot on Granville Street, the Ramada will do but don’t expect anything beyond a basic spot to sleep in a great location.

Ignore the low 2-​star rating; if you’re in downtown Vancouver as a tourist (on a budget), I highly recommend this hotel!

1. Decent price
For the 4 of us, we paid ~200 USD (total was a little under $ 800) each for two full size beds for a total of 5 nights

Keep in mind that no matter what, everything is a little more pricey in downtown.
2. Friendly and helpful staff (From concierge to housekeeping)
Every single day we had newbie traveler questions that I’m sure they find ridiculous, but no one at the front desk was ever hesitant to help, and provided us with countless maps, tips, and directions
The housekeeping ladies were very friendly and made sure we got our amenities everyday
3. Cleanliness
From the beds to the bathroom, everything was clean and not once did I feel like someone stayed in the room before us
4. Location
Ramada is located at the very end/​beginning of Granville which meant that it was never crowded and never too loud while most destinations are within walkable distance. Being right on Granville made clubbing over the weekend very convenient since all the major nightclubs in DT Vancouver are all on Granville

Things that I wish were different & might affect other guests more…
1. Size of rooms (very small)
For 4 girls, we managed with the space just fine; but we were surprised at how small the room was… The 2 full-​sized beds, a small desk, a chair, & drawer/​tv stand took up the entire room. We had to move the chair to our weirdly proportioned big bathroom so we could have walking space.
2.Elevators (Only 2 small elevators w/​max. occupancy of 4 people each hahah)
For some reason, one of our room keys that we need to use the elevator would never go through. Very very tiny. Elevator for ants for sure.
3.Wifi
Very slow wifi. Different spots in the room can affect the speed (TYBG for ending up on the side w/​fastest wifi)
4.Location
Since it is located on the end/​beginning of Granville St., we were kind of on the border of everything we wanted to experience in downtown. Yes, walkable distance, but damn my legs did a lot of walking!
It is not the BEST hotel, but you get what you pay for. For me, I think you get even more than what you pay for since my personal experience was such a good one. Also very friendly staff at the bar downstairs as well!

We were put in a room above the nightclub kitchen, room never cooled off, dance music shook room all night, couldn’t open window because employees use alley below window to smoke all night. They didn’t service our room until 5:15pm when we were trying to nap after a long day and poor sleep the previous night. When asked if they could come back in 30 mins, they said no, they were at the end of their shift and had to do it now. Someone pulled the fire alarm at 5am, after rushing downstairs, fearful and half dressed, two staff at front desk didn’t even bother to look up at patrons filling the lobby from all floors to tell us what was going on, we had to wait until he was done doing whatever, to ask what was going on and if it was a false alarm & safe to return to rooms. They acted as if we were bothering them. No apologies, no reassurances… Nothing! We retuned to room only to have lit firecrackers thrown at our window from drunks in the alley… Bad service, poorly trained staff. Don’t stay here!

The place is okay for the location and pretty clean but the rest is under par. As others thought, its a ramada so it cant be that bad. But Ramada does not own it but it just license the name to an independent owner. So the standards are not the same. It is definitely not worth the full price if u pay it.
There is a smell about the rooms in the first floor. We stayed on a weekday but the walls are thin so I would imagine it would be loud if the club downstairs is open. The toilets was making noise all night.
I dont really understand the parking lot. if they dont have enough space just have a valet person in the beginning. rather than parking it in the space to check in and telling guest to leave theyre keys.
Also I didnt appreciate that the other couole after us got an upgrade for free and we werent offerred the same deal. I understand its theyre discretion but we shouldnt hear about it while we wait for you to give us our keys.
Another thing, if youll recommend your guest to take public transportation, give waiting times for the bus and the stop. We ended up walking as the line 50 bus took awhile anyways. It was nice walk over the bridge to granvle island.
I probably will not come back to this place again.

I booked this hotel for $ 88 w/​tax through priceline name your price. Parking was $ 20 w/​tax. It’s a great spot if you’re planning to hang out on Granville St. Having your car in the open parking lot sucks but the police station is only 40 feet away so I’m sure it’s pretty safe. There’s a 7-​Eleven across the street so that was convenient. The room and bathroom were modern and pretty clean, not much to complain about. My room was facing Granville St so there was a lot of drunks hollering that you can hear outside til 3 — 4am. For the price and location it was OK

Before you guys book a hotel anywhere, do your research and find out as much as you can about the hotel because the last thing you want are surprises. And I’m not talking about the good kind. Reading other Unilocal’ers reviews may be a good start.
Let me start by saying that I live a city away from this hotel. The only reason why my friends and I stayed here was because we were all planning to get s***faced downtown and none of us wanted to drive home after, so staying at a hotel in the vicinity of where we were seemed like the best bet. Safety first people.
Let’s face it, this hotel ain’t no Fairmont or Four Seasons. The rooms here are really more for utility, not so much the experience; there’s beds for you and your family/​friends to sleep on, a bathroom to do your business, and for you to leave your stuff so you can access all the shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs around. It’s really just meant for that in my opinion, because you should be out and about most of the time, only coming back to get your sleep.
Next thing — this hotel is on Granville Street. Party central, specially on a Friday or Saturday night. Last night I was in the bathroom and the walls were thumping because it was a Friday night and obviously the club next door was busy. Did I complain? Obviously not. I knew that before I booked my reservation. For our intents and purposes, the room did its job: give us a place to stay over the night while we were in the stages of our hangovers.
Yeah it’s not top notch but it’s not the worst either. If I had to rate it, it’s probably closer to the «kinda ghetto but it’s all good» side of the scale.
Don’t like it? Get over it. Shell out more $$$ and stay at one of the pricier hotels DT. Then if something doesn’t quite go the way you like it, you can complain and whine to the staff all you want.
Would I come back? If my friends and I decided to party like we did then yeah why not.
