History

Established in 1967.

Brian Reay decided in 1967 to start his own cartage company with his first moving truck and his best friend Jim.

The company kept growing and in 1982 move to its current storage facility. Brian & his wife Elaine retried in 1994. Their children John, Janet and Peter have had great success continuing on the family business.

I was disappointed with a few things about this company.
First, punctuality. I had the elevator booked for a limited time and they were 1 hour late.
Second, it was not Reay’s moving company but subcontracted to Phil the movers company.
Third, they tried to charge us 1 hour of travel time and with evidence on google maps, our time to and from their office in east can was ½ hour. It was not resolved and we ended up paying 45 mins. It was stated in our contract ½ travel time.
I do not have time to dispute on the phone which we did on moving Day two days ago. It was also recommended we go in person during office hours. Who has the time?!!
My parents moved 3 months ago from a two story house to a 3 storey house full of things and it took them less time (4 ½ including travel time with a different company and 2 guys). We moved from a 1 bedroom and den condo with 3 men and our grand total was 5.75 hours.
I will NOT be recommending this company to others. This company came as high regards from a friend and on Unilocal but sorry, it was a disappointment that cost over $ 800!

These guys were good, fast, prompt and honest. Luckily, they finished right before the great Vancouver windstorm. Hopefully, they got home safely. I used them because of the reviews I have read, and I wasn’t disappointed.
They initially quoted us for 6 hours, but finished at around 3 – 4 hours and charged us for that much. I heard stories from many of my friends how other movers charged what they quote you, even though they finish early. They did mention we were the only ones they had that day, but they didn’t dilly-​dally and were efficient. I had a piano that they had to move, and they did it like they have done many times up 9 flights of stairs!
For being honest, prompt and fast, I had no problems leaving a tip for them to have lunch.
I would gladly use them or recommend them for our or somebody else’s move.

We moved last month and I chose this company basically because of the reviews I read. And from start to finish it was a great decision! The booking agent was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The arrangements were easy even though the job was not straightforward. The first part of the move involved taking stuff to an already existing storage space we had. Then they came back and took the rest of our stuff to their storage. All was done efficiently and professionally by three very friendly and fun guys. All in all they made what could have been a very stressful day into a breeze.

We had Reay’s come to our home to remove and deliver our clothes washer/​dryer units for service. The two gentlemen that came to our home were very professional and took extra care not to damage our walls or flooring when removing the washer and dryer. They’re dispatcher (Janet, I believe) was also very helpful and a pleasure to deal with over the phone.
I would highly recommend Reay’s to anyone requiring moving or delivery services.

A friend of mine recommended Reays, but of course I checked your Unilocal reviews before committing!)…and I’m so glad I went with them.
I’ve moved five times in the past five years, and this company was BY FAR the best moving company! The man who booked my move was helpful and polite. The movers were on time, quick, and hard working. They brought wardrobe boxes to pack up my hard-​to-​fit-​into-​normal-​boxes stuff.
Highly recommended! And don’t forget to mention the Unilocal promo!

So, so, so impressed! You can trust this company to do it right. We had no choice but to trust them & they came through with everything.
It doesn’t get much harder to plan a move in 5 days than when you’re overseas. We were in Spain & had to leave everything to Reay’s.
They took the time to give us an estimate based on our descriptions & pictures.
They packed our entire apartment & moved it to an off-​site storage locker. Then they packed & moved our condo tower storage locker to the off-​site one. They knew that new owners were moving in in 2 days & didn’t miss a thing.
They did it all unsupervised, and called us to clarify something that really showed us they were thinking about the job. When they were done, they took pictures of our new storage locker with all our stuff in it & emailed them to us.
Thank you so much for taking a huge worry off our shoulders and delivering as you did. We recommend you without reservation.

This company proved to be a huge sigh of relief during a very trying time. Super calm, efficient and funny, they took right over and got the job done in a very timely manner. The price was very reasonable, and they gave my Mum a break because she was a senior.
They were really careful with all of her things and there was no damage to anything.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company to friends.

We moved on Dec 14, 2012 from Vancouver to North Van and had an excellent experience with this company. They were professional, efficient, friendly and a pleasure to work with. Peter, Peter and Peter make a great team!
I can’t say enough good things about this crew!
They sure know what they are doing! From the best way to move items out and in to knowing where to put the boxes and furniture — excellent spacial skills!
Some examples of what impressed me… they made sure furniture was wrapped well and had their own covers to wrap items that had not enough padding or protection. They brought extra wardrobe boxes in case we needed them (and we did for loose items). They were very careful with the all boxes, and walls… etc. There were no dings on our stuff or the walls — very impressive! And they were all so friendly and considerate!

Reay’s did our moving last Wednesday. it was a large 3 bedroom apartment to a new house and they did it under 6 hours!
they were fast, friendly and no damage was done to the items or to the new house.

Reay’s moved us on September 27, 2012 and couldn’t have done a better job,
Their excellent service started from my first call to book a date (I’d been referred by a friend). They were friendly and helpful. They made useful suggestions about packing, packing supplies and the move. We hadn’t moved in 28 years, so it was very helpful.
They sell packing supplies at reasonable prices including used boxes if they have them. Then they will buy back boxes at 50% of the sale price!
The team that moved us was on time, efficient and knowledgeable as well
as pleasant. The move went very smoothly under the estimated time and
with no breakage at all.
I would highly recommend Reay’s.

What can I say? Reay’s makes moving simple. I moved with them this past August, which was the second move they’ve done for me since I’ve moved back to Vancouver. I used them because my parents have been using them for close to a decade now and they came highly recommended.
They’re on-​time, courteous, professional, efficient. Prices are probably a little bit steeper than some of the other guys, but they are very reasonable. Especially considering that they are very quick with the move and take great care handling your possessions, I’d say they’re worth it.
Highly recommended. They get booked up fast for the end of the month and are pricier for the weekends, so plan ahead and book them early to get the most out of it.

Peter, Peter and Daniel, moved my parents from their 3 bedroom home to a condo, they were on time, worked efficently under a deadline, were polite, careful and really hardworking, and helped us deal with a freezer that wouldn’t fit! Every thing arrived in perfect condition. Many thanks to Janet in the front office for her help in scheduling a move on short notice, and also for the use of wardrobe boxes at no charge! A life saver!

Nice guys but slow! With 3 men plus two of us helping it took 6 hours to move a two bedroom. Our last move took 3.5 hrs.
A few specific issues:
— we worked harder
— they had a poor system, the elevator should be the slowest point but for them it was the truck, they had only one guy in it so stuff piled up outside
— for a while there were two guys standing around while one was folding packing sheets in the truck, nothing was getting done and there was still lots to move
— They took forever to drive between apartments, I walked part way and bused the other and arrived in 15 minutes, it took them 30 minutes
— often took tiny loads
Again, nice guys, but just took way too long.
$ 775 to move a two bedroom sounds a bit steep.

Excellent, very efficient, very reasonably priced, and with an excellent sense of humor. I hate moving, but these guys made it as good as it could possibly be. They finished about 2 hours before I thought they would, too.

i dread the thought of moving more than anything else — even more than the thought of north korea + nuclear weapons — because with the latter, i trust that other super powers can minimize the damage whereas with moving, it’s as inevitable as taxes & death. but over the past 3 years, we’ve moved twice & each time we used reay’s and they have been AWESOME. punctual, fast, & just down right fantastic — and no damage to any of our belongings. whoohoo!
