We are a natural resource consulting business specializing in various fields including our most recent venture, teaching open source Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. We aim to reach out to interested environmental groups, forestry groups, not-​for-​profits, and any others who require GIS but are unable to afford the costly licensing of alternate software and certified technicians.

Showing the power of GIS in combination with Global Positioning System (GPS) devices, we teach the basics of map making on a multi-​level scale in our two day course. Students of our course learn to use their own GPS devices — dedicated handheld machines, smart phones, or other — to track and record data and then import to the computer and create high quality visualizations.

We specialize in making the learning process personal, bringing your own data in is a great way to understand the capabilities of free software and the right knowledge.

History

Established in 1994.

Robin B. Clark has provided consulting services to First Nations, private owners and government. Coordination of projects related to natural resource management and environmental stewardship has been a long standing priority.

Robin B. Clark Inc. has been providing expertise in forest sector capacity building, forest stewardship, sustainable resource management planning, strategic planning, economic analysis, and communicating BC forest management practices both to international visitors and when travelling abroad for the past 20 years.

In the last 40 years, Robin has worked in the forestry industry providing top quality input in various roles. These roles include cruising supervisor, assistant engineer, log quality supervisor, surplus properties representative, and for the last 20 years president of Robin B. Clark Inc.

Robin has a dedicated team of mappers and GIS experts who use open-​source (and other) GIS programs to complete complex projects on a regular basis. These experts are also the instructors in his company.
