The staff here are very considerate and helpful, and several times have gone out of their way to fix things that went wrong whether due to their or more often my oversight such as not giving them a coupon ahead of time, or leaving something behind at the register. Also a good selection, and kept up to date. Not as big as the giant Oakridge location but everything I am looking for.

What’s to like about Safeway? High prices and terrible quality, not much of a draw. I’m just about to throw out a $ 7 organic salad mix(house brand). It still has almost a week left on it’s best before date and it is rotten. I could return it, but it’s not worth the time. The last time I tried to return an item to this Safeway, their house brand yogurt, they asked me for my receipt. It was a Safeway house brand, where else could I have bought it? I could have spent even more time trying to locate the receipt, but I have better things to do. Service is really poor too. No one is ever at the customer service desk so you have to line up at a cashier, then the cashier pages someone and you wait even longer.

If I only need a little thing, I usually stop by Safeway that just pick up and go. For my own convenience, I don’t mind to pay a bit more. I found this Safeway pretty clean and organized. I didn’t expect they were so busy on Sunday night. After I got what I needed, there were only 2 cashiers opened and over 6 – 7 people lined up in front of me. Lucky that it didn’t take long, it’s good supermarket in that area

If you visit this location be very patient as there are a few services in the store that are far from respectable. The poor attitude from a majority of the deli staff is brutal and unacceptable. I understand these employees don’t have the greatest wages but as a customer standing at the deli and not being helped or even acknowledged as the minutes role by is very frustrating especially when you are the only customer at the counter. This has happened to myself and other people I know in the area on several occasions. The manager of this department needs to take action!!! The other departments are ok, management and cashiers are friendly and helpful but that is about it for this grocery store. I have decided no to go to this location anymore.

If you’re here, might as well go over to Oakridge, where it’s faster service, more checkouts, plus your own self-check too. Plus, it’s small, a bit dark, and cramped aisles. Starbucks/Bank of Montréal ATM inside.

Safeway is your standard chain grocery store that you can find almost anywhere. Although this location is clean and modern looking, be prepared to pay a little bit more for items at Safeway compared other grocery stores. Safeway is a food based grocery store, so don’t expect to find many items that aren’t edible. You can still find some basics like toilet paper, plastic cultery, etc. just don’t expect that you can get everything at Safeway that you can at a department store. However, what Safeway does offer in terms of food selection is really good. This location of Safeway has a bakery where you can get any fresh baked good you could want, a deli that can make sandwiches and get you cold cuts, and a Starbucks to get a coffee when you shop or for after. I also find, this location of Safeway has some of the best looking produce I’ve seen. You are paying a bit more for food items than at Save-on-Foods or No Frills, but having a better looking(and thus better tasting) produce is sometimes worth it. This check out lines at this location also go fairly quickly, even if you’re not an express line. On a completely different note, there’s lots of free parking in front of the store if you bring your car. Overall, this Safeway location is a standard grocery store offering a decent selection of food, with a bit higher quality of produce than other stores, but as a slightly higher price.

New day Different Safeway. Good visit found what I needed for my Thanksgiving Day Potluck and check out line was quick, OK I admit I got a bye on the check out my wife paid the bill, but it was still good. Next Time I need a Safeway I will go this this location over city centre location. One again they have a good bike rack near the main entrance.

Let it long be known that I’m not a fan of big box grocery stores. They are, in some cases, a necessary evil. Safeway seems to be everywhere so with that comes the convenience of knowing: where ever you are, or where ever you are going, there is probably a Safeway close by. Also, there is a familiarity in the stores themselves. Mostly, things are in practically the same place, no matter which store you enter. So if you need something and need to know you’ll be able to find it, Safeway is a pretty safe bet. Parking here can be a test of patience. Lot was neither well organised, nor well maintained, so it can get congested and confusing and frustrating. Just go there knowing that the time you waste navigating the parking, you’ll make up for in the ease in which you find what you came for. If I have other options, I prefer to exercise those, but it is sometimes impossible to plan well enough to be able to avoid going here on occassion. And for those times, Safeway does ok.

Even though Safeway is, in a nutshell, overpriced, there is this one product that keeps bringing me back: potato salad. Oh yes. More on this later. Parking is plentiful as there is a huge lot out front. They also did a renovation a couple of years back, so everything is still pretty nice and shiny. So what is this potato salad? Out of all the places I ever go to, Safeway is the only place that cranks out consistent, tasty, and reasonably priced tubs of this stuff.($ 5.49 for 1.25kg). Urban Fare will charge you 3 times as much, and Superstore’s tastes pretty horrible(and don’t get me started on their coleslaw). I’ve been getting fat off this stuff for years, and am sure I’ll be getting even fatter off it in the future.

Stopped by for a few things on my way home from a doctor’s appointment. Took me forever to find the gluten-free bread(in a lone freezer near the produce, by the way) but they did have several varieties of the Kinnikinnick brand breads and some gluten-free bagels. Line-ups weren’t too bad, but my express lane was a bit slow, and the cashier took too long to get me a Safeway card — AFTER I had already paid, and thus did not get the discount on my apples.

Very slow tellers, line took 15 mins to get through with only 3 customers including myself. And for some reason there was no express lanes open as I only had 2 items. The teller apologized to the lady in front of me saying he drank too much the night before after the closing ceremonies. I prefer the old days when Safeway had super fast tellers that were paid $ 20.00 an hour. Now it takes 2 people at $ 10.00/hr to do the same job. Anyway…
