Secret Nail & Beauty Supply

I frequently come here to pick up Beauty supplies for my studio downtown, and have had a membership since 2008 or so. I make sure to park out front, or nearby as I always walk out with bags full of products. It is super crowded with products and is reasonably priced (for most of the products). They don’t have good eyelash extension products though, this is not the place to get those!
I have witnessed a customer getting yelled at by one of the staff before and it really made me uncomfortable… the customer was trying to return something and the staff member was being quite rude and I wanted to step in and say something but I didn’t bother as I have to go in frequently. There is one lady there who is super sweet and nice (she is latina) but everyone else is unpleasant.
I will continue to come here as I pick up last minute supplies from them. You can’t expect much from affordable beauty supply stores.

I LOVE this store its big has everything your looking for and they always have deals all the time and super close to where I live which is super great as I was buying all hair and nail supply from Sally’s they have a lot more then Sally’s and super cheaper … I would recommend this nail store to anyone who has a shop or it’s just a hobby the service was alright and very nice

love this place!!! I have an obsession with always having my nails done but I’m too cheap to pay for manicures every two weeks. This place has solved all my problems!!! I purchased a UV nail lamp from here and now do shellac nails at home. They also carry regular nail polish but I am now addicted to shellac.
I also get tea tree wax from here which is amazing and doesn’t cause ingrown hairs. It is dirt cheap $ 7 for 16 oz (with membership). I am not sure how membership works since my sister set it up for us but I think you have to show them a business licence and pay every year? With membership you get 15% off their prices which are already cheap to begin with.

OMG! I love this place! I never noticed it before, but accidentally stumbled upon it as I was buying a Viet sub from the place next door. Kept seeing girls walking in and out.
What did I see inside? Omgoodness nail polish heaven! And all wholesale prices. I only had to pay a $ 10 membership fee and boom beauty heaven at dirt cheap prices!
It was super messy in there, so you really had to search for things, but seriously they have everything you need!
I will be back for sure!

This beauty supply store is in my parents’ hood and my go-​to place to feed my OPI addiction. You pay for an annual membership but it’s nice because you don’t have to work in the beauty industry to get access to their discounts. I’ve bought a few miscellaneous beauty supply items, but I come here primarily for the nail polish (they carry other brands including China Glaze and other professional-​grade polishes, including OPI gel). Some of their stock does appear that they’ve been on the shelves for awhile (ex. some nail polishes on display where the formula has separated into two layers), but I tend to stay away from them and haven’t experienced any issues with the OPI bottles that I have bought in the past. Given my love for nail polish I can’t justify paying $ 10 for a single bottle of polish at the drug store, so Secret is my little gem.

I will never go to this place again. After being a customer of many years I bought some nail polish among other things. My bill was about $ 100. When I got back to work one of the polish bottles leaked in the bag. I took the product back the next day. The manager immediately dismissed my hope for an exchange saying that I must have dropped the product and there is no way the cap was cracked when I purchased it. Why would I lie over such a tiny purchase? I told her it was bad faith to call me a liar and not exchange my item she didn’t care and told me not to come back. I would not purchase anything from this store as if you have any problem with an item they have no interest in helping you.

I went to the store to purchase a hair dryer. The sales lady was helpful in answering my questions regarding the hair dryers they sold. I even asked the sales lady which brand she recommended and she said «we don’t get many returns for this brand.» I assumed that meant that I could return the hair dryer if I didn’t like it. However, I was not informed that this was a final sale before I bought the hair dryer — otherwise I might have thought twice about purchasing.
I did not like the hair dryer when I brought it home and it smelled like burnt air blowing when I turned it on. I brought it in to the store the next day for a return. The manager in the store was really mean and anal about their no refund policy. The manager would not let me return the hair dryer after I complained I smelled burnt air after I used it. She turned on the hair dryer and said it was working. No store credit was given and she said I had to keep my dryer even though I was clearly unhappy. She even accused me of being hostile and said she didn’t care if I complain to the BBB. I was not being hostile (I wasn’t yelling or swearing) but I was clearly not a happy customer. Will never shop there again.
If she didn’t care if I complained to the Better Business Bureau (and she very explicitly said this to me), then that must mean she’s had complaints about her store from the BBB already!
DO NOT SHOP HERE! They clearly do not care about their customers.

This place is amazing and I don’t know how I didn’t stumble across it sooner. It doesn’t look like much from the street but once you go in, you see that it is huge. The back is stocked with salon supplies for hair and skin but the front is a candy store of nail polish. Dozens and dozens of bottles of my two favourite brands, China Glaze and OPI. They don’t have everything but a decent selection and it’s half the price of salon or drugstore prices. I got an OPI glitter polish for $ 5.25 and a China Glaze shatter polish for $ 4,25. The membership is $ 10 and you can have a second name on it if you ask nicely.
Definitely worth a trip!

This place is appropriately named, as it is definitely one of Vancouver’s best kept beauty secrets. Sure, it’s located in a kind of random stretch of Kingsway near Knight, but believe me –it’s worth the trip.
I first discovered this place on Unilocal back in March when I was looking for places to buy salon-​quality nail polish for my friend’s wedding. I read how other members of the public had been able to purchase things at this beauty supply shop, so I decided that I would head on over to check it out.
I stopped by this place on a Saturday, and to my dismay they were closed. (I guess I should have paid attention to their hours of operation before leaving, but what can I say? I was blinded by excitement!) Undaunted, I returned the following Sunday and happily perused their wares. The front section of the store seemed to be more dedicated to nail supplies, and I noticed they had a larger area in the back that I didn’t really check out (I was a bit pressed for time), but I’m sure there are all kinds of exciting treats back there.
I decided upon two bottles of China Glaze polish as well as one bottle of top coat, and in the end –after also purchasing the $ 10 membership– the total was around $ 22-​$ 23. Unbelievable! When you buy the membership, they will either give you a little card, or you can have it «attached» to your drivers license number.
One thing I must say: if you’re the type to «pre-​shop» online before going to a store, don’t bother. Their website is pretty gawdawful, and it doesn’t accurately show what they have in the shop. (For example, they sell a lot of OPI products, but you can’t find them on the website –or at least I couldn’t) Don’t let their website turn you off –grab a few of your gal pals and head on over. Trust me, you’ll be giddy with delight.

I stumbled on this place when I was looking for a birthday gift for my friend who is addicted to China Glaze polish. I was about to order a pile online and give her a tacky IOU when I found whispers of a wholesale nail supply store that sold to the public. Sign me up!
If you aren’t an industry professional, you’ll have to pay $ 10 for a yearly membership. However, the savings are so good you’ll be able to make this up very quickly. China Glaze polishes are $ 4 each and OPI is $ 5 – 6 if I remember correctly. There were a couple of colours that looked as if they’d been on the shelf a bit too long and the colours showed a bit of separation, but I only saw a couple of bottles like this.
They have a MASSIVE area in the back with more salon supplies than any regular person would need (including a box of creepy curved fingers to practice manicures on-​Halloween décor anyone?) but had more than enough for the regular person (files, scrubs, moisturizers, buffers-​you name it!).
Some hot items are out of stock (the Seche Vita topcoat Lex mentioned below was also sold out when I went) however the staff are very helpful and it’s worth asking if you are looking for anything specific-​I was looking for a CND topcoat which wasn’t on the floor, but the sales girl went to their stockroom downstairs and found a brand new box of them.
Will definitely be back again and again! My friend was ecstatic with her gift and even more ecstatic when I told her about this place.

This is a random little storefront on Kingsway near Clark that has remained under my radar for a long time. Finally venturing in to this establishment I discovered a pretty big store! It’s filled with aesthetics supplies (massage chairs, nail dryers, etc) that a normal gal such as myself wouldn’t need. And not being up on the costs of all these things, I’m not sure if their supplies are a good deal. The store was empty of customers so I’m not sure how they survive.
I saw 6-​way nail buffers for just a couple of bucks and I know I’ve spent more on those in the past. A pack of 10 eyelashes? $ 10! I think I could be willing to have spider eyes at that price! They also had Opi nail polishes for super reasonable prices as well as Opi hand lotion. My sister and I tried the lotion and were really impressed. For the rest of the day couldn’t stop noticing how amazing our hands felt. If you’re into doing your own nails (I’m too lazy) come check this place out!

I am relentless when it comes to shopping sometimes — if there’s a certain item I really want, I will go to great lengths to get ahold of it. Lately, I’ve had a thing for nail polish. And I’m finding the cheap drugstore brands are not really cutting it in terms of quality or colour choice. And I’m also finding that I have a very hard time spending upwards of ten dollars for a bottle of nail polish, so that elminates Spehora or going to salons to pick up OPI. As well, the drugstore brands are not really all that cheap — still six or seven bucks for crappy brands like Revlon.
So I searched and researched, and from some random message board I heard about this place. I managed to find a parking spot on Kingsway, went in and was blown away. Immediately I was confronted by several huge displays of nail polish — all salon-​quality brands! Not only did they have OPI, for six bucks a bottle instead of the usual ten, but they have my favorite brand of nail polish — China Glaze! This brand is so easy to find in the states, but barely any salons even carry it up here, let alone drug or retail stores. And the one salon I found that did stock it was charging between $ 9-​$ 12 a bottle. Secret Nail and Beauty Supply sells them for $ 4 each! And these are very, very good quality polishes with a huge range of colours, an awesome formula that (in general) applies extremely well and lasts without chipping, and are free of those three bad chemicals that I don’t remember the name of and am too lazy to google. The only reason this isn’t worth five stars alone is because the selection of colours they do have is not complete. They didn’t stock any of the newer China Glaze polishes that I had on my want list, and the Seche Vite top coat I was specifically looking for was sold out. When I inquired as to when they were planning to get more, the sales girl was unsure. Also, they had a whole rack of striping nail art polishes, but they were sold out of white. Which is the one colour I needed, and the only colour anyone ever uses :(
This place also sells all sorts of salon and esthetic equipment, as well as a whole assortment of hair products, and some makeup. From what I overheard other customers asking about, I also understand that they sell some kinds of hard-​to-​find makeup that you’d otherwise have to order online — like tubular mascara, certain specialized skin products from other countries and etc. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time browsing beyond the front section of the store, where all the nail polish is — mainly because I’m not any sort of industry professional and I have no use for most of the items, but it seems they had a very vast selection.
Basically, if you like nail polish, doing your own nails and nail art, and you purchase it somewhat often and don’t already have a good online source to order it (or don’t want to pay shipping), its worth coming here. The store is supposedly «not open to the public», but you don’t need a license to shop here — they will allow you to puchase a one-​year membership for $ 10. If you do have your beauty or esthetician license, you don’t have to worry about that, of course, but anyone can purchase a membership and shop here. And like I said, if you buy nail polish even a few times a year and like good quality polishes, its worth it. If anyone else knows anywhere else that sells China Glaze polish, or OPI for six bucks a bottle, please let me know.
