Needed a coffee fix, this place looked nice! The giant cookies and apple pie looks amazing, will have to try at some point. But as for the latte, it was verrrrrrry bitter, not suited to my taste at all. I had to cram in a load of sugar, and hardly drank any of it. If you like bitter lattes then you’ll like this!

Pretty good. The cookies are huge and good. Actually so are the other servings. Will return when I am back in YVR.

The only place on Granville Island that has vegetarian poutine! Or so they say. They could be lying to me. It’s not real Québécois poutine either but it sure can cure that craving for gravy and cheese. It’s $ 8 though. Steep! Also if you want a massive piece of banana bread that will take you 3 days to eat but will cost you $ 4 this is your place. Breakfast’s are so so, but i would really pass on them here. Costing $ 11 you would expect a little more. but then again it’s on Granville Island and they can get away with not making something of quality and ripping off tourists.

I found parking right in front of the loft on a busy Saturday afternoon. We only had an hour, so instead of walking to the market and spending my whole hour there, we went to this coffee shop. We ordered two americanos, a date square and a slice of carrot cake. My americano was good. I didn’t like that the cream was just sitting in a cart off to the side… they didn’t feel cold. The cake was so moist and had the thickest layer of icing I ever had. I had to bring half of it home because it was so big. My only complaint is that it was so much… each of the coffees were $ 3 and I paid like $ 16.50(tax included)… that means I paid like over ten dollars for the two pastries. I don’t like it when places don’t have all their prices posted. I wouldn’t have gotten the slice of cake had I known I might be paying like six bucks for it(because I don’t think the date square could be more than $ 4). I would definitely go back for their coffee…

The Net Loft is an odd little structure located just before Granville Island’s Public Market. Amongst the shops selling cards, crafts and Canadiana in the Net Loft is a tiny coffeeshop that is operated by a mother-and-son duo. I do not frequent this café because it is outstanding, but it is one of the few places that serves breakfast items on the island, and their breakfast bagel matches up perfectly with a piping(travel) mug of joe. A warning: try to avoid anything resembling a meal here, in the traditional sense of the word. This is a coffeeshop — and they can prepare coffeeshopy items well — but their attempts to create items such as eggs benedict and quesadillas are lacklustre. As a general rule, try to order items that suit the establishment you are patronizing. Cafes and coffeeshops serve snacks and coffee…’nuff said.

The menu board is definitely appealing. the only place you can see their name is on a Specialty Coffee board but it’s the only food joint in the Net Loft building of boutiques and cute shops. Had the chicken quesidilla which came with Salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. It was hot and tasty. but be reminded that you can make it just as good as home so it wasn’t rocket science. They serve giant pastries and we know my love for apple pie so I went for it. I wish they could’ve heated up. The apples were soft and had lots of cinnamon flavour, it wasn’t overly sweet and the pastry crust was okay. Coffee is organic and fair traded, but very pricey compared to other shops I’ve seen. Food prices are decent, but the service was a little arrogant. Just for a heads up — I think they take Debit now because that’s how we paid today.

This is such a great place to grab breakfast before hitting the market. We ordered lattes, english muffins with grilled tomato, egg and cheese, and a giant slice of apple pie. So good, hot and delicious. Cash only. A bonus: there’s a currency exchange right across the walkway.
