Saw this reviewed recently on August 11th in a trade mag and decided to book mark this for future reference. Firstly they need to update their hours of operation, especially when people like myself need to plan the day during lunch. For future reference they close at 4pm during the day. I had a London Fog made with almond milk and sugar free. The Barista was really chill and nice. This is a super small stop with a few seats, however, more of a grab and go situation. Best part is that they have zines to read.

Try a rosemary rock salt bagel with cream cheese and an Americano. Ask Robert what he’s doing on Thursday night.

Some businesses are as much about the proprietor and the space as the service or product. Solder and Sons is just such a business. Enter off of Main, near Cordova. No, you haven’t just stumbled into a really smart, eccentric person’s closet. While Solder could be loosely defined as a coffee shop/book store, at about 400 square feet, it is clearly too comically small to be either. Get to know the strangers you’re there with — the small space makes it easy! Talk over the book selections — they don’t stock much, but what they do stock is quite good. And say hi to Robert, the owner — if you’re not sure what to talk about with him, just bring up the Canucks. The french-press coffee & loose leaf tea is good, and the stock of books are carefully selected, but Solder and Sons is really about entering a different kind of business than you ever really get to experience any more: small, whimsical, intimate, with a wild and crazy side just waiting to be discovered.
