The gentlemen that helped me today was unusually helpful. Today I had a good experience at the source.

I am surprised that there are still Source places still in existence and that this one is doing well, especially in Kingsgate mall. I don’t come here for electronics even though the prices are compatible mostly ’cause depending on the store size they don’t specifically have what I am looking for. For accessories and batteries of odd sizes, this is my to-​go place. They have all sorts of batteries, adapters and chords. I still make mix tapes and this was the only place I could get a 1 RCA to 2 RCA to plug into my ipod to my tape dec (yes it is new school meets old school for my tapes). Customer service was friendly and prices are decent. Lap top accessories are hugely overpriced.

My experience at The Source has been relatively positive with most of my purchases. I usually order online and have them ship to this location because I know I can find parking and don’t need to walk miles into the mall to get to the store. Customer service is great and helpful. My only negative feedback was the time the store clerk called me and said my PS4 controller has arrived and I can pick it up. I went there in the afternoon and guess what? It’s not there! I drove all the way there for nothing. It’s either they sold my controller to another person or she made a mistake. I asked her when will I get the PS4 controller and she said maybe in the next couple days.
I went home and waited for a week… still no phone call. Therefore, I went to Best Buy to buy a PS4 controller. Over at Best Buy they have at least 50 PS4 controllers on the shelf. I then went to The Source on East Broadway to request a refund since I paid online. The clerk didn’t know what to do so he asked the manager, Mike. Mike told me to call The Source E-​Commerce for refund. Therefore, I went back home and was on hold for 15 – 20 minutes before talking to someone. I told the person at The Source E-​Commerce about my situation and she checks on the computer and puts me on hold. She said she has spoken to Mike at the East Broadway location and I’m supposed to get my refund at the store. What!!! I’m being bum steer around so I went back down to the store and said I’m here for a refund because I paid and did not get my PS4 controller yet. It has been over a week and no stock while the store few blocks down have a ton of stock. This time I said I’m not going home until a refund is issue. Got my refund but the manager wasn’t there. The staff and manager should have more training in all aspects of the business including online purchases refund.
Overall the staff is OK and friendly therefore I give 3 stars instead of 2 for the one off incident. Hopefully this is the only issue I have with this store.

The in person customer service at The Source is fine. They are very friendly and — as long as you are willing to wait for help– they are good when they actually give you their attention.
The immediate customer service is not the problem.
The problem is that they lie and there is no follow through.
I bought a computer from The Source 3 years ago. Three years ago I said ‘no’ to purchasing a warranty several times because I did not feel like I needed it.
The person that helped me in person (Toronto Eaton Centre) convinced me when he said they would provide me an extra battery– in ADDITION to the one I had on my Toshiba. He told me that it was excellent value and that I would not even have to do any of the work with Toshiba– the Source would send it in on my behalf and call me when it was ready to pickup– I could even go into any store location in the country. This sounded good. I made sure to double check that the warranty on my Toshiba meant it was 3 years PLUS an additional battery (not a replacement battery if dead).
Fast forward 3 years later and my unit had no problems with very light use.
I go into a Source location to get my Toshiba serviced, cleaned up, diagnostic. This is something included in the warranty. I also want to collect my extra battery as promised. The 777 Bay Street Location customer service agent was VERY nice and took my Toshiba in. I talked to him about acquiring the additional battery and he made sure to put clearly on the form to leave the old battery and package the additional battery that is included in my warranty. He made an explicit note of this.
I receive my Toshiba back (at the Vancouver Kingsway location) and it looks like Toshiba did not give me the additional battery on the warranty NOR did they even replace it to give me the new battery even though it was EXPLICITY STATED to add an additional battery and KEEP the old battery.
The customer service at the Vancouver Kingsgate Mall location was very nice and sympathetic and said that I was right and they do not know why Toshiba made that mistake.
They said that they would contact Toshiba and they would make it right. In the mean time I could take home my computer and they said they would contact me and Toshiba and make sure that Toshiba sent over a battery for my Toshiba NB305.
Almost a month later and still no response.
The people at The Source are very nice and helpful to your face. However expect them to lie in order to sell something you don’t need and never expect them to follow through on anything you ask them to.
and never EVERY buy their warranty.

I purchased a Fuji underwater camera, chip and wrist band at this store June 23, 2012. The camera leaked when I used it underwater. The wrist band was way too large for me, although the sales person had personally selected it for me. I tried to return the camera 15 days after purchase but they wouldn’t take it back. They told me I had to send it to Fuji for repairs. I left messages for the store manager to call me, but never received a phone call. Finally, I made a claim through my Gold Visa card and had the money reimbursed to me that way.
Very friendly and nice when I was buying something. Standoffish and busy when I came back to return an item.

I had a problem with my keyboard and asked around at other electronic stores before but never had help as good as here. Very helpful and nice sales people there.

The store used to be crappy but has improved. The staff are pleasant, friendly and make good suggestions.
This place is more for music and game lovers it seems. If you need batteries, great. If you need computer components, don’t bother.
