I started an account with SPUD on a freebie. My sister in law has been ordering from here for a while. For Christmas she was able to send to three people of her choice a free box of fruits and veggies from SPUD worth $ 40. So I signed up and got my free box delivered with (no further obligation.
For a $ 40 value (no charge for delivery) they sent (all organic and pesticide free) Kale, Beets, Carrots, Mushrooms, Apples, Pears, Avocados, Lettuce, Oranges, AND a $ 20 coupon to use on my first order (minimum of $ 40 order). Not too shabby.
So okay, I gave it a go and placed my first order. I my order totaled $ 55 (free delivery for orders over $ 35), then I subtracted the $ 20 coupon. So for $ 35 I ordered Salmon, Buffalo meat (this was a wow for me), kale, carrots, beans, sunchokes, purple potatoes and yams. The majority of the cost was in the meat. After I placed the order they automatically gave me ANOTHER coupon for a future order of $ 50+ … hmmm … I think they wanna keep me coming back? haha
The delivery came today and I must say … I’m not as impressed as I was the first time. This is the first time I ever ordered groceries online, I really enjoy shopping in person and picking out my own things. I’m very selective about my food and I carefully look for bruising and aging. The kale was limp and not crisp. Also the meats came frozen solid. It didn’t say online … or rather if it did say it was frozen, I didn’t see where it says delivered frozen.
Also I didn’t like the $ 5 delivery charge for the box it came in. Basically a Rubbermaid container with a lid. I do get being environmentally friendly … but it just rubbed me the wrong way. There was no choice given to me, they just tacked the $ 5 deposit onto my bill.
The delivery guy said that if I wanted to, I can quickly take all the produce out and give him back the box right away. Seemed like a lot of trouble to me, so I just told him I’ll do that next time.
Their marketing team are very clever people. Because of the $ 20 coupon, I will order again. But next time I will have my own box ready at the door to transfer the groceries in so I get the $ 5 back right away.

I’ve been a Spud customer since some time in late 90’s /​early new century, occuring simultaneously as I gave up car ownership & became a ZipCar member.
That’s a lot of years for something to go wrong when dealing with ANY company and I’ve had maybe 2 or 3 issues with Spud, but they were always immediately corrected and addressed.
Being able to order quality organic groceries and have them delivered too my door is reason enough to have lived this long, just to see how much better hunting & gathering can be done.
However if you’re into finding a parking spot, hopefully you have a coin for that cart and Whoa look @ that checkout line up. It’s your choice;)

A lifesaver for me! Great variety, new additions, and ready to eat salads and meals for those days on the fly. I did get a call once from spud very surly person stating that when they picked up my bin there was an item accidentally left in the box and it was rotten. Obviously I overlooked this item, but she was talking to me was like a telling off!

I had an account on spud and ordered from a long while back and loved it. For an experiment, I’d fill up my cart to compare prices with another online store. I didn’t confirm anything, and before I knew it, I got a text saying the order arrived the next day while I was at work. There I am freaking out at a 400 dollar order that I did not confirm. I was just simply filling up an online cart. The question is how well refunding will go which might make me rerate spud. But this automatic payments are freaking me out and I can’t sleep at the thought of having to pay 400 dollars.

Recently started a vegan diet and I have been ordering majority of my groceries with Spud! Spuds has definitely made is a lot easier to become vegan. I really do like the whole concept of this company and they make eating organic easy. The website is very user friendly and I like how on the day of your delivery, they will give you an livefeed time for your deliver to be dropped off. I have ordered right to my house and also to my office. The delivery people are super friendly and always asking if I have any questions in regards to my order! I would recommend this delivery service to anyone who is super busy with work and is unable to get groceries or to people who enjoy eating organic and good quality foods! Free delivery and prices are fair (sometimes cheaper then whole foods)! Thanks again!

A treat from ordering online to opening my bins. I like being able to change my mind as often as I like before the deadline. Makes eating healthier easier and also less food waste since you can plan on what you’re going to have and what to order for that week (s).
Delivery people are super friendly. The produce was fresh and tasted great –I will never eat another non-​organic avocado again.
Customer service is outstanding. They promptly answered my questions about my order and even offered to accommodate my type-​A requests.
I save time, money and the quality is great. I don’t have to brave the Whole Foods crowd. Try them out. They offer $ 10 off your first order and also have a decent points system.

We get food delivered from them at our office. Always on time, good quality food and one of the spud lady visits us often and leaves with free stuff to munch on for us. Great customer service. Would recommend: D

I love the convenience of Spud and the products they offer. Ordering online and delivery is so simple, I appreciate the text message alert I receive when my order has been dropped on my door step.

Had my first delivery a couple of weeks ago. I used a $ 25 for $ 50 offer, so can’t complain about that. I have no complaints with Spud’s service either — very easy to navigate website, very efficient customer service. The delivery was a no hassle at all. It’s just me being visual as I really want to see and touch my produce before I buy them. And, as probably majority of organic produce are, most of them are the junior versions of something. lol. not a bad thing, I just want bigger and more.
But again, no issues with their produce as far as quality are concerned, I just want them bigger or ‘normal’ sized and more.
Would I use this service again? Absolutely! Maybe when I get another $ offer :-) hint hint

I’ve been using SPUD on and off for a few years now and their customer service is phenomenal. Shopping for local/​organic/​all natural foods on their website is super easy with the clear labeling. I’m also a huge fan of the «kms traveled» for products so i know exactly what kind of footprint i’m leaving with the foods I choose to purchase.
I usually put in an order when I get really busy and/​or forgot something when I went grocery shopping and dont want to go back for a second round of crowded shopping. It’s also really convenient for apartment buildings because you can buzz them in from your phone and they’ll leave the order at your doorstep and pick up the empty bin for you from your previous order. Definitely helps with not having to haul some of the heavier groceries from my car (i.e. milk, juice, etc.).
Definitely recommend for busy people.

Clever marketing on this organic bandwagon, well, guess it’s here to stay.
Used them last fall, the online is like another eBay of goodies. Took advantage of their $ 40 of food for $ 20, and the free delivery’s nice. Just the issue for me is you have to wait for a 2-​hour window, so though you don’t need to be there while they dump off the bins, and you have to place the order a day before.
So you better be more organized than me, and not forget anything.
It’s actually fascinating how they can let you keep the bins for awhile; we didn’t schedule a pickup til a month later. They must have factory of these lol. Obviously they’re banking on more frequent, regular orders.
To me, I like to shop, touch, and feel what I’m buying… so I do get it, it’s the internet e-​commerce way, maybe for busy people but seriously, one cannot drop by a small grocery or supermarket along the way to/​back from work, going out, etc. lol, guess that’s why they’re in business.

ok, spud, you’re back in my good books. mostly because you carry duck fat and juicebox juices.

I’ve been a SPUD customer for about a year, and I love it. They always have cool new local products (like Schokolade chocolates, omg), the meat is great, and the produce is almost always perfect. I’ll admit sometimes items can be bruised or off (like avocados) but they have a great refund policy and lovely customer service people.

I like the visual-​real-​time effect of regular grocery shopping. I like smelling my produce, tapping it, feeling if it’s ripe, maybe stealing a grape (but I almost always buy the bunch after… almost always!); so I am a bit skeptical about buying these things online. But when I got an email referral from a friend for SPUD (that included $ 40 off my first purchase), I thought, why not?
The awesome list:
— Their produce is always organic, and fresh.
— Online customer service is very helpful
— Delivery dates/​times are accurate
— Convenience of delivering to my door (or in this case, work)
— Free delivery over $ 50!
The ‘meh’ list:
— Prices are a little higher than the usual grocery store… but not exhuberant;
— They put everything you order into one box; so this means that some of your dry items will be a bit wet, and it creates a smell sometimes… but again, not a dealbreaker
— I now have a big box under my desk that needs to sit there until I make another order, when they will pick it up (how smart, SPUD!)
But in the end, I would order from them again. And keep in mind that when you refer someone, not only will they get $ 40 off their next order, but you will too, for referring them! (disclaimer: you have to spend at least $ 75…but hey isn’t that the average going rate for a weekly shop anyways?)

After seeing some good reviews about
, we decided to give it a try. We’ve only moved to Vancouver a couple of weeks ago, and haven’t had much chance to give out our phone number to anyone (only 3 websites to be exact). One week after we made our first order from
, we started receiving unsolicited phone calls for holiday trips to the Bahamas. We checked all 3 websites for their privacy statement, and found that
is the only one without one. So while we cannot be 100% certain, it’s most likely that this is the company that gave out our number. I do not appreciate this kind of behaviour, and hope they would stop.

My boyfriend and I love SPUD. We signed up with a groupon after hearing about it from some family members and have used it ever since. Initially we tried just the produce box (a pre-​selected assortment of seasonal produce) but then decided to buy practically all our groceries this way for the last 6 months. It saves us time for sure. Now it’s easier to make meals based on what we’ve already got and only run to the store when it’s necessary.
I used to think, «how can anyone afford to shop organic and local?» but SPUD has proven to me that it can be easy AND affordable. We’re eating better, healthier, and a more well-​rounded diet as well as choosing local over imported foods to support businesses in Canada.
There are different drop off days depending on where you’re located, but don’t worry about not being home for the delivery — they can leave it outside your door for you, even if you live in an apartment (which we do). So it’s very convenient, not to mention delivery is free for the average order.
There have been a few incidents that needed resolving with the customer service team, but they’re usually diligent about addressing the issue and are very kind and helpful. Even our delivery guy is awesome.
Lately there have been a few orders that were missing items from the invoice or had the wrong items but hopefully this is just a temporary warehouse concern and it won’t persist :)

Having groceries delivered is great, it would a lot better if there wasn’t always a screw up or bad produce included.
We’ve had Spud deliveries about 4 times now (maybe 5), and I now know there are certain things best not ordered from them: onions, potatoes, avocados, etc.; any produce that comes in a bag where they aren’t really looking them over.
For instance, we just got a bag of potatoes and when I opened the bag, they’re all sprouted! With onions, some look bad on the outside and others are rotten upon cutting open. The other issues are ordering something and they either forget to include it or it’s not exactly what you ordered, ie: ordering whole chia seeds but getting ground.
I may use them periodically for things other than produce, but I’m coming to realize it’s probably just easier to do my grocery shopping myself if I want to ensure it’s done right and that everything is of good quality. Which is too bad since the idea of grocery delivery is fantastic.
Their customer service is good though. They are quick to respond, and friendly. They are also quick to refund for anything that was screwed up or bad — not that that’s helpful when you are about to make something for dinner and you realize what you were going to use isn’t good.

I love me some SPUD! This is a great, great service to have for the people who are super busy, and on the go. It’s also great for those of us who just don’t like wasting time going grocery shopping!
Customer Service: This is the first thing that I want to talk about! SPUD’s Customer Service is definitely up-​to-​par. Any product that is bad, or missing, they are happy to refund you.
Produce: I find that it’s best not to buy my protein from here. It’s a little pricey, and not the best of qualities. I would caution you from this.
Every other product: Definitely buy from here! Everything is priced at about what I would pay for at Nesters!
Bottle Returns: I really like this about SPUD. Anything that they charge a bottle deposit for, you can simply return in the bins that they provide for you, and they pick them up and credit your account! Easy peasie!

When the Spud delivery gent arrived at my door today, I nearly threw myself into his arms in appreciation. After two days of doctors, needles and general un-​well — getting my groceries delivered to my door like magic was a NEEDED win.
I used Spud back in my university-​while-​doing-​five-​part-​time-​jobs days in an effort to put more greens into my system. In all honesty, back then most of it would go to waste as I had set up a fresh harvest box where they send you an assortment of whatever is available that week and 20 year old Jody didn’t know what the heck to do with kale.
But now that i’ve grown up a little and bought a juicer — where those unidentified & tricky green things simply get pulverized — I thought i’d give it a whirl. Though it took a few weeks to get things going (damn you debit Visa!), i’m happy as a clam I’m partaking.
The So Far Highlights:
They have direct debit.
You can order a fresh juicing box that comes pre mixed with enough organic fruits and veggies to make 12 cups of fresh juice.
After a debit-​Visa mix up, I took my grocery list to Whole Foods to price compare and they came out within $ 5 of each other. And I didn’t have to drive there. And shop. And drive home. And unload. No no — I sat in my jammies, ordered online and tada — front door!
It’s not just produce — you can nab dairy, meat — even cleaning supplies.
They carry Salt Spring Island Cheese Factory.
The delivery gent was super cute.
You can recycle your bottles by sending them back with your order boxes — they’ll even subtract the bottle deposit from your next order.
The tartine tarts pizza is pretty much my new addiction.
They have a recipe section that even I can use (she who burns everything).
Their juicing section is newbie friendly.
Gluten-​free heaven.
They carry Happy Planet Soup — local, yummy, quick dinner option.
You can filter the site by local products and/​or dietary restrictions.
Things I’d Watch Out For:
The juicing clubs SOUNDS awesome, but read the fine print. If you’re dipping your toes in the water it’s probably not the best bet as it requires a six month commitment. But if you’re pretty darn sure you’re going to get hooked (and let’s face it, you do) then it’s a good option to get a darn fine juicer and pay it off weekly. If you’re not one for the commitment — save your pennies and buy just the produce instead.
Also — the harvest box SOUNDS like a great idea but make sure you go through your preferences in detail and check what you’re getting that week. If you’re a «make it up as you go along» sort of cook — then have at it. But for me, the «I just need dinner to be as QUICK, painless and require as little thought as possible» kinda girl — the harvest box doesn’t make sense.
Though… i’m going to dip my toes into the standing order system — because that seems pretty solid.
Sure some people have said it’s silly that i’m getting groceries delivered when there’s a market just up the street or a bigger grocery store a few blocks away. But call me crazy, if the product is quality and the price is somewhat comparable (if you’re smart about it) and I can free up two hours in my day to go do something else besides cart my butt around a grocery store — then give’er!

I totally love this service. Since I started more than six months ago, my intake of produce (organic!) has increased significantly, for the simple reason that it’s there. In my fridge. All the time. Like when I want a snack … I still buy some produce at local markets but I have the basics on hand through SPUD, and of course my beloved milk in glass bottles. The kind with cream at the top *swoons* …
They have great sales on other items every week, and with any $ 35 order, delivery is free. You can have deliveries every week (they pick the day, to allow for efficient and eco-​friendly driving routes), or skip a week or more at any time for no fee. I have really gotten accustomed to not carrying heavy groceries home, and I wouldn’t give SPUD up, let me tell you!
Prices are comparable to stores that sell similar products, and the convenience factor is worth a lot to me anyway. I arrive home to find a Rubbermaid tote full of my personally-​selected groceries, always fresh and gorgeous except for one mango, once (filed report online and was credited automatically the following week), kept cold (even frozen!) and fresh and ready to be carried all of 20 feet to my kitchen. I can select stuff for a specific recipe, or just have baby carrots and McIntosh apples on hand for snacks. They also sell potted plants, which I love — patio tomatoes and strawberries coming up this summer for me :)
The only one single thing I wish were different (and I’ve told them this) is I wish that I could include specific produce items as «standing orders»; they explain that different sizes, etc from week to week make that impractical but I still wish I could do it …
