Why make something so simple so difficult. I attempted, unsuccessfully, to purchase a pound of coffee and have them grind it for me. As it was a gift and I did not know what type of machine the recipients had, I just asked for a medium grind. They refused, not once but three times. Their concern was that somehow a wrong grind could damage the machine! I am not sure how, but that was their reason for refusing. I went up a block and bought it from the Safeway location of Starbucks where the staff was friendly and helpful. On the way back I stopped to show them the ground coffee and ask if it made sense to them that I could buy it a block away. The server was adamant that they couldn’t do what I wanted. On the way out she told me to «have a great holiday», at least that was what she said, but what she really meant was f**k off you old fart.

This is a cramped Starbucks and the worst layout for a very busy location. In addition to being narrow it has only 2 seaters with not much room in between. Very bad layout for a business meeting, however, had to have a business meeting here with lots of papers and it was a pain in the ass. I ended up just standing during the meeting so that I could use the chair as some space. My tea was good and the customer service was really friendly. Just not the best of the locations for brief meetings that require paper.

I love Starbuck, period. I Starbucks has never disappointed me once and even if they did with their drinks, I go up to their counter and they will make me a replacement drink. Been to this location couple times because its near my place. Had their special $ 3 frap(can’t remember what it was but it had caramel in it). Service is good. Only thing is, I wish there are more seats but I guess this should apply to all Starbucks. I mean its not like I am in a food court. The place is nice and quite in the corner of Mackenzie and Broadway. Great location if you want to go and sit or meet up with a friend. I recommend getting a Starbucks membership to collect stars for free drinks.

These people, for some reason, couldn’t get a «double espresso on ice» right today. On the first attempt, they added auto-sweetener and shook it — and when I sent it back and asked for it «just black» — they redrew the shots — but still shook it. I asked them what about my order indicated I’d wanted it shaken(because it happens surprisingly every one in thirty times) and she repeated my drink order to me… As I’ve ordered it 1000 times before… I told her I just wanted«two shots of espresso poured over ice.» It’s probably the most simple of summer drinks you could ever order. She told me she’d remake it for the third time, but, after already waiting for 15 minutes, I told her I didn’t even want it anymore and left without my drink or a refund. Normally I have a standard decent experience at Starbucks — but this, and the fact that the cashier guy was kind of a dick, led to this unfavorable review. Maybe there’s some internal staff drama going on, I don’t know? I’ll be sure to steer clear of this location from now on. There’s a better Starbucks about 4 blocks south(on 4th Ave) that I’d definitely recommend… staff there are fantastic and they always seem to get it right.

With the nearby Blenz now closed, this Starbucks is the only choice for a coffee place with WiFi in this part of Broadway. Plus: very friendly staff, reasonably clean, and the Shaw Open WiFi signal is strong(see below for why this matters). Spacious and easily accessible bathroom. Minus: the WiFi kept kicking me off while I was here, so good thing Shaw Open is reliable in this part of the city. Space and seating in here is rather cramped, but not unusual in Kits. Daytime parking nearby can be quite hard to find. Meters out front charge $ 2 per hour daytime rates. Overall, I would rate this Starbucks as about average.

I’m surprised that this place doesn’t have any reviews. I like to go here before shopping at Safeway or visiting the clinic. If you’re quick, you can park in the Safeway parking lot.(Shh. Don’t tell Safeway). Pros– seating– indoor and out, although a bit too open. Bathrooms moderately clean. Always newspapers to read. Not a bad place to people watch, even if most people aren’t that interesting to watch. :) Horoscopes always there for you to read on the counter. Read five behind your actual horoscope, however, as it’s usually more accurate. Cons-service a bit slow which is strange as there always seems to be three people behind the counter. If you try to get a coffee with your beans for free, they look at you as if they haven’t done this before. And for those who don’t know this about the Starbucks… you do get a latte(usually a tall, grande if you are extra-sweet) if you buy beans. I haven’t been able to get that at JJ Bean or anywhere else, so it works for me. But a pound of beans will run you almost $ 20.

Just a typical Starbucks. It’s always a bit grungy, but I always visit late in the day, so…
