Walking along and I was hungry so I stopped here for a burrito. Big fan of Moe’s stateside so I’m used to the steamed burrito game. I ordered a traditional burrito with chicken. He asked if I wanted a ‘sauce’ so I said sure the yogurt sauce. I wasn’t sure what to expect. The guy making it was nice and we chatted a bit. The burrito itself was really flavorless. Like the other reviews mention(which I saw after I ate there sadly) is entirely accurate. As I was eating I kept thinking about how little flavor there was and if I should just get some pizza somewhere nearby. Lame, find somewhere better!

It’s a healthier version for a quick takeout meal. The ingredients are fresh and at least the pork burrito was tasty enough. Very fast too!

They can’t call themselves a Mexican place because despite the violence and drug problems of Mexico, they have good food there(in Mexico). I agree with all the reviewers who say the food is bland. But thank God for hot sauce. Whenever I decide to get something from here, I always ask for extra sauce and then fill the burrito to the rim with my favorite Sirrachi cock sauce. I guess I use their food as a medium for my hot sauce like a painter uses a canvas for his paints or Ron Jeremy uses a(*) for his spank bank. But really, the grossest thing about this place is their breakfast burritos. Imagine this: Steamed eggs with steamed bacon on a floppy wrapper. It’s like eating a black hole of flavor. I think the only way I get flavor is by throwing up some dinner to coat my mouth first. The 2 stars are for the nice staff and the effort of going healthy. But sometimes healthy is just crap.

BLANDBURRITO… ordered the vegetarian burrito with basmati rice. Just a disappointing taste experience. The rice had no flavor. I did taste the flavor of the veggies, yet there were no discernible Mexican food flavors. For $ 8 I expected more.

Terrible. I can’t believe how disappointed I was in Steamrollers. I’ve always wanted to try it and one afternoon I saw a lot of people lined up so I decided to jump in line and try their best«ultimate» burrito(forgot the name but it was the burrito on the bottom of the menu) as they called it for $ 9. It was VERY bland and the quality was extremely poor. You would think that the condiments or sauces would mask the bland flavor but that was lacking too. I will not return again. Definitely a place to skip if you are in Yaletown.

I don’t know. Steamed burritos? Not for me. I’ve come here a few times in desperation when I’ve had under 10 minutes to grab lunch. Not much on their menu appeals to me. First off, the menu is difficult to follow. Secondly, it all sounds like pretty much the same thing but with a slight variation. Ultimately, it all pretty much tastes the same, as well. That«hot» sauce they have is pretty lame. The steamed cooking approach makes the food taste soggy and bland. All the flavors melt together into one hot mess. I don’t feel like I taste individual ingredients. Even in the burrito bowl, which seems like a healthier option, it’s just doused in this red sauce and white sauce — neither of which add any flavor. No thanks. I’d rather walk a few minutes further to Salsa Agave where the traditional burrito hasn’t been bastardized by some weird cooking method. Cost’s roughly about the same — but tastes worlds better.

I’ve been to the steamrollers on Robson and somewhat enjoyed their regular chicken burritos. The other day I was on my way to work and needed food fast. I saw they were having their thanksgiving wrap which I had been meaning to try. I ordered it and waited excitedly envisioning the thanksgiving tastiness that was about to reach my taste buds. My friends, I was truly truly disappointed. The wrap was filled with thanksgiving dinner that you’d get in a cafeteria or frozen microwave dinner. It was rolled up and drenched with tasteless gravy and a tiny drizzle of watered down cranberry sauce. I’m ashamed to say that I was starving and ate the whole thing, begrudgingly. I mean, I paid $ 10 for this monstrosity, so I had to eat it or starve!

edit: Bah, I take it all back! They’ve changed the quality of ingredients this year and it’s not the same. Allow me to demote some stars… — — — — — — — — - Steamrollers isn’t getting much love on Unilocal, and I hear you folks. But this review isn’t about«normal» Steamrollers, it’s about the Steamrollers that serves turkey burritos for two weeks around Thanksgiving(and perhaps now Christmas). What’s the big deal about Steamrollers turkey burritos you ask? Why it’s a home style Thanksgiving turkey dinner complete with carved turkey, stuffing and potatoes stuffed in a burrito and smoother in gravy and cranberry sauce! Did I mention it’s delicious? Because it is! Granted if you don’t like Thanksgiving Turkey dinners this will be a let down, but if you do… Boy oh boy! I have been known to have one for lunch and dinner on the same day. In fact For the third year in a row have called Steamrollers desperately asking them when do their turkey burritos start? Answer: Monday October 1st for two weeks. Joy!

They mess my order up I’d say one in every 3 visits(wrong meat, no brown rice, etc) However I go back time & time again. Because for a healthy fast dinner, I love their bowls & when splurging their original wet is great. And when they are featuring pulled pork as a meat option I stop by twice a week! So the stars are really all for the food!

Steamed burritos. Who invented this stupid concept? No really, I want to know, so I can go over to their house and smack them upside the head and demand my $ 8.50 back. Just awful. Like a bad salad in a wrap. And cold. It went cold in under five minutes. Usually I can get a burrito, walk at least 10 minutes back to my office and it is still piping hot. So I can”t even call it a hot mess. I am filled with bad burrito, regret and shame at having tried this woeful idea. Don’t mess with the basics.

I pass by this place on the way to work, and the idea of a «steamed» burrito is both interesting and a little repulsive. But I figured what the hell, I’ll try something other than Subway for a change. I couldn’t find any Unilocal reviews even though there are 3(thanks iPhone app), but once here and able to use the gps it popped up right away. The reviews just repeated what I was thinking. «Meh.» I had the Chicken Deluxe and I wasn’t really impressed. It’s kind of bland, and I chalk that up to this feeling more like a warm chicken veggie wrap than a burrito. Ultimately I found myself putting hot sauce on most of it to add some flavour. At $ 12 for a deluxe burrito, drink and chips I can’t recommend this place. If you have a burrito craving you want to satisfy the meal at Steamrollers is going to feel a little flat.

DON’T GOHERE! I agree greatly with the other negative reviews of this place. My husband and I were strolling in Yaletown and wanted to stop somewhere for lunch. My husband spotted their sign for steam burritos and wanted to give it a try thinking it would be a semi healthy choice. I on the other hand took one look at the place and knew it wasn’t going to be good. MY intuition was correct. I have three words to say. Bland, Bland and more Bland! They were by far the worst burritos I’ve had anywhere. I would barely consider it edible. They also didn’t even give us what we ordered but we were so hungry we didn’t want to wait for the correct order. If you’re searching for something overpriced to fill your stomach that tastes like NOTHING then this is the place. My advice is to stay far far away.

I really don’t get steamrollers. First time I tried it(months ago) i was disappointed with the flavour — there was none. I had just the regular one — so bland. I decided to give it amother go. This time I had the deluxe version(beef). The menu said salsa, cheese, yoghurt and various other tastey things. I don’t know if they forgot to put them on or what, but it was so BLAND. I think chewing on the grass outside might have had more flavour. I am dissapointed because it should be a great healthy option, but it wasn’t. A bit of cheese and a bit of salsa — all the flavours, it should have been great. but it wasn’t even good :( Aside from the food, the dining space is too small and crowded, and for what you get, it is very overpriced. I will not be going back.

Steamrollers isn’t trying to be anything other than just Steamrollers, it’s its own brand. I could eat here many times, there’s something to be said for consistency. It does seem like it’s missing a little extra spiciness or kick… the sauces are a bit plain.

Vancouver is a great place for Asian cuisine and fish and that is what I am sticking to! Well okay, not exclusively, I will eat some poutine also. Steamrollers is trying to bring some authentic Tex Mex to Vancouver and fails miserably. Growing up in Chicago, I have a pretty high standard of Mexican food, this doesn’t come close. It leaves a lot to be desired. It just doesn’t taste right. Worst of all, it isn’t even open late night, which is key for a Mexican restaurant. You really need to be able to devour a burrito late night under the influence to tell how good it really is.
