I had originally booked a dinner reservation for 8 people. Two days later, I called to confirm and there was no reservation under my name. I was a little annoyed because we were celebrating my 24th birthday and my friend had previously told me not to go here but I didn’t listen and insisted I go here especially because they had the fishbowls. It was turned around for me from the minute we arrived. We were greeted immediately and had accommodated eight of us. The place was huge so it was great that they put us in the corner so we could talk and hear each other. Kristine was our server and she was attentive and even bought me a shot for my birthday! I ordered the cedar plank salmon and it was delicious. I will definitely be back again. Thanks Kristine!

Solidly decent place to get drinks but not exceptional. They were running a promo on cocktails while i was there, so i tried a Kentucky sidecar. It’s was pretty decent, comparable to other sidecars I’ve had. There are lots of TVs around playing sports near the bar. The place is well lit and right next to the Waterfront station stop, so it’s very easy to get to. It seems very generic place to grab a decent drink, but there are a lot of much better places within a 3 block radius. Seems to be a good spot for tourists as well. With so many other good bars in the area, I’d check one of them out instead. I came here again with some other friends a few days later, ordered a fishbowl and nachos. I wouldn’t recommend the nachos, they were just okay for the price and had olives on them, which seemed like a weird combination.

Interior is spectacular with a variety of ambiances. Great for couples, groups and meetings via the private room. Beer options wonderful. Menu plentiful with some veggie options. Dessert — one I cannot stand and have been tricked into ordering twice is their baked apple pie. Awful — mostly raw pastry. Service is a bit spotty.

Amazing! The place is absolutely MASSIVE inside with great customer service and a very unique menu to choose from. My 4 friends and I were all impressed with our drinks and food. Fries were so good too! Couldn’t stop eating them.

Disappointed. We flew into Vancouver yesterday from Salt Lake City for a three day trip to Vancouver. We love coming here, one of our favorite cities. Steamworks has always been a must have on to do list but this time was such a disappointment. My favorite thing in the world is steamwork spaghetti it was probably the best spaghetti I have ever had and when we got here today they took it off the menu… The only reason why we came. My husband wanted pizza and then saw the prices. The last time we were here was June 2015 and it’s now January 2016, 7 months later and their prices have skyrocketed. My peach Bellini was $ 4 more than normal, $ 9 now. Not worth the money. What a shame

Seats… many. Nice view and great size for groups! I arrived late at night, and wandered down from my hotel. The first couple of stops were busy and I kept walking down the street until I arrived at Steamworks. As a lone diner, I was seated near the windows. Plenty of gluten free on the menu — I had the pizza. Yes, there’s an additional charge for the gf crust, but it was good, and tasty. I had the Classic pizza and enjoyed it enough to take the leftovers back on the plane home. ;-) I can’t drink the beer, but they had cider and it was cold. Great for my weary self to relax with a meal. The space is large, cavernous almost. Done in dark wood almost shiplike. There is more than one level, I saw a front area beautiful spiral staircase to a lower level, and a rear space. The view over the water was nice, service attentive, and although I was one of the only patrons at that hour, they were politely shutting down for the night around me. Just a note — I started the review when I visited in June 2015

We went in to try some of their beers, they have a great atmosphere. They have a good location as well. You can sample before deciding what you want or get a tasting/flight of many beers. We did not eat. Enjoy!

Where do you go when all the other gastown bars/pubs are busy and you have a group? Steamworks. I’m not a huge fan of the beers that I’ve tried from Steamworks, at least their main ones. I ordered a plate of nachos to share and I guess I have high expectations for nachos because these ones were pretty subpar. When they’re $ 18(maybe less) for a plate, I’d expect a huge whopping plate like at Foundation. Nonetheless, a place to sit down and drink with friends while you wait for a table elsewhere.

I love writing reviews like this one, where everything about the establishment is spot-on. Steamworks is one of the best pubs I have ever been to. First, the service. Amazingly friendly and attentive, our server Sonja went above and beyond when we got a small portion of crab & spinach dip… she ordered us another one on the house! NEVER had anyplace do that for us, and we didn’t even have to ask… it was fabulous, by the way. They allowed my fiancé to taste the beer before he ordered it, again going the extra mile. And I had a perfect caesar. The pub is huge, with great views of both busy Cordova Street and the harbour. Can’t say enough good things about this place, If you are in Gastown you have to check it out. Right next to the Waterfront Skytrain Station too.

Came here on a trip to Vancouver because my travel buddy recognized the name of the brewery from some beer that he’d had and liked back in Seattle. We were excited to try the beer and hoped they’d have some good bar food to go with. We ordered our beers, a tripel and a pilsner, and they were both pretty tasty. Honestly, the beer was good, but to make a good pub you need more than good beer. We started off with an order of fries, and you would think fries are hard to mess up, but our entire basket of fries seemed to be from the bottom dregs of the fryer – super greasy, hard, and tiny. Swear to god 80% of the fries were less than an inch long… After that we figured to not bother with the food. After we finished our beers, we had to ask for our cheque three times over the course of at least half an hour. It seemed like our server had just peaced out halfway through the meal without putting anyone else on our table, because besides the cheque thing, we really were not visited at all during the second half of our visit. Overall, the beer was good, but when there are SO many places to get good beer with way better food and actual existent service, I don’t see us coming back.

I have been this place about 4 times. On my 4th visit, the server was perfect as he was caring and paying attention to our table during our stay. I like their Oatmeal stout, but we switched beer in between lager and Oatmeal stout, and he changed our glass every time we get a different kind of beer. Their Nachos was tasty and it was enough to share with 3 other people, and pretzel is tasty as well. I do not want to recommend their Calamari dish though as I have tried it twice and both times it was blend, lacking flavor and soggy.

I love, love, LOVE the location of this place. Beautifully positioned next to Coal Harbour and steps away from the skytrain station. The beer is phenomenal, one of my favourite craft beer breweries in Vancouver. Wonderful wine selection too. My personal choice: the Jackson Triggs Merlot. A perfect balance of sweet and bitter. However the food is just alright. There’s nothing crazy special about it, and nothing crazy special about the service either. Overall, a great place to dine or hang out. Careful on the busy Friday and Saturday nights, can be a bit of a wait.

Stopped in late in the afternoon on a Thursday, sat at the bar and watched the Thanksgiving football game. Bartender was friendly, just the right amount of attentiveness. The Belgian Tripel Ale was delicious and full bodied. Ordered some fries and asked for them to be extra crispy, which the kitchen did a great job with! Huge portion of super crispy fries with tender potato-y insides. Would have gotten a second order if we weren’t so stuffed.

Okay is a good way to describe this place. This is one of the first restaurants that tourists walk to from Canada Place going towards Gastown and it looks cool from the street lit up at night. However, the food we had was subpar and the experience could have been better. We sat outside on a pleasant fall evening. The seats were right underneath heaters which felt like we were baking in the oven. We asked one of the servers to turn the heat down, which he did a little, but it was still uncomfortable. Once our dinner arrived, we dug in. Husband had a seasonal dish with sausage and I had the fish tacos and sweet potato fries. It looked like more of a fish wrap than a taco when it arrived at the table. The service was a little off and I had to ask for a drink refill. Beer was okay. Some people ordered the beer cheese soup at tables next to us and we wished we had got that instead. In summary, I’d stick with drinks here and go further into the city for food.

Steamworks is located in a great spot in downtown Vancouver — next to Canada Place and Gastown. Is it the BEST beer in Vancouver? Uh oh, I can hear the beer purists who are rolling their eyes and getting ready to say, «Steamworks is tourist crap, there are SO many better smaller brewers in Vancouver.» I say, «Whatev…» Loved their Jasmin IPA — super smooth and delicious. Great location, nice atmosphere and solid beer. I loved it and will deliver 4.25 solid stars… Yup, Jasmin IPA& Steamworks is a winner.

I’m starting to notice that a lot of my reviews are tough to write because I get a hold of a few drinks and don’t watch out for things to be picky over during my meals. Steamworks is renowned for their beers and though I’m not their number one fan I was still happy to try a new place out for a work function. I had a handful of drinks which were all significantly cheaper than the neighbouring bars I have been to before. My speciality Oktoberfest pizza that I ordered was delicious! Another party at my table had the mussels and they were also delicious. OH! and nachos too! all around great meal. Our service staff did very well. We were not the easiest group because we were loud, drinking, and in large number. They changed the TV channels for us, they kept a great record of our receipts(which were complicated by us changing chairs every so often) and they did it all with a smile. I cannot pinpoint a single let-down during out meal. We’ll very likely be back for round 2!

South of GasTown Vancouver seems to shut down early, so we walked to Steamworks based on recommendation of server of a pub that was closing down for the night. SERVICE: 2.5. A bit rough on the edges. The wait staff seemed oddly perturbed when deciding where to seat us. Smile and banter came at the time we paid the bill. But we received everything we ordered quickly and accurately. FOOD&DRINKS: 4.0. — Quinoa salad. Surprisingly robust, flavorful, and filling. — Fries. Best attribute was the low price. Next time we’ll go for the Yam fries. — Pilsner. Slightly better than average. AMBIANCE: 3.0. We sat outside next to a window facing inwards. The interior is huge with 2 levels, within an old red brick building. Attractively decorated. We enjoyed our outside seats, located at the far rear. When the people at the table next to us left, 2 mice emerged from some nearby potted plants and scurried about underneath the now-empty table in search of nourishment. Definitely mice — not rats.

Just finished the sun run and had to celebrate with cold beer and food!!! This place is HUGE so def sit where you can have a view of the North Shore if you can. They have a large beer selection and I think a lot of tourists hit up this joint. This place is great for groups and to get some good Vancouver energy.

Solid pub food and decemt beer. Came back for dinner here after I spent an enjoyable night here a few years back with a friend while on vacation. Since I was alone, I was seated in the bar area upstairs(fine with that). Beer(a lager) was good and almost tasted like a pilsner at home. Burger was decent and waiter suggested to substitute«half the fries» by half a Ceasar salad, which was really ok and. enough food. Would come back for pub fare, if wanted and I am around in Vancouver.
