Being the Northern most restaurant on the drive, my wife and I started our«eat at every restaurant on the drive» journey here. She got the chicken skewers with noodles and I got the Malaysian curry with beef and noodles. Her chicken was flavorful, well marinated, and perfectly grilled. Not dry or burnt, but had plenty of nice grill flavor. She loved the«stix sauce» that was served with it. My Malaysian curry was also pretty good. I would have liked a little more spice, but hey, this is Vancouver. It was like a beef and potato stew with a curry twist. The staff was friendly, and for semi-fast food, pretty good all around.

Gross. All I can say. Visit 1… Malaysian Curry(sounds mouth-watering, ya?)…mediocre at best. Visit 2… spring roll meal…3 bites in. a ROCK nearly took a molar out… turned it in for another hopeful stab @ the curry… BUZZZZ! It’s been 3 hours since I ate half the portion and left the rest and my stomach is not feeling good. Not even getting to a 3rd at-bat. Staff is great though, but they didn’t offer a replacement meal gratis as compensation for what was a disgusting and potentially damaging discovery. Sorry guys.

I’ve been here many times, usually no complaints. Today I had a need for noodle soup for dinner to sooth my sore throat. I decided to add extra veggies to my veggie noodle soup, so it was a $ 10 soup. So, I was pretty disappointed when it was a bowl of noodles and broccoli, and thats it! Just broccoli! I don’t know if it’s always just broccoli, but if so that’s pretty sad. If I would have known I would not have paid the extra $$$ for that! Will I come back? Probably. Will I get noodle soup? No way.

The service at Stix is always friendly. I’ve had the beef noodle soup, the noodle salad, the salad rolls, and the spring rolls and they’ve all been tasty. Everything is prepared after you’ve ordered it(this makes a difference especially with the salad rolls). Tasty and fresh.

If you’re looking for very healthy, delicious food at affordable prices, from a clean place with excellent service– this is for you! Impressed by the simplicity of the menu, yet how fabulous, tasty, and healthy it all is! I am a very picky, gluten/dairy/sugar-free and generally health-conscious eater, and this place is one of my favourites.

I come here for lunch every two weeks or so. I absolutely LOVE their phở. Just enough to fill me to the brim with phở-happiness, with just enough soy bean sprouts and deep-fried garlic sprinkled on top. Try anything(except the Malaysian curry… I don’t know what’s happened with that one) on the menu and you won’t be disappointed. It’s vegetarian friendly too. I know you Commercial-Drive types like that.

The food is tasty, portions are just big enough, and the prices are fair! The place looked clean, and everything tasted nice and fresh! I had the chicken noodle soup, broth was great, and the chicken wasn’t fatty. My hubbie had the veggie/tofu soup, which he loved! We also shared a chicken salad roll and 2 spring rolls… Will def. go back!

* Vietnamese influenced * This little fast food counter style restaurant has a lot of Vietnamese influences on the menu. I suppose I could go so far as to call it fusion — a fusion between Vietnamese and typical Commercial Drive veggie focus(although they have meat on the menu too). The shrimp salad rolls were nicely made, the veggies were crisp, the mint added a nice overtone, the shrimp was fresh tasting, and the vermicelli were the right consistency. Decent performance. Photo: The salad noodle bowl was a Westernized version of a typical bun cha. The noodles were egg noodles instead of vermicelli, but were cooked nicely. The salad was a bit more of a Western style salad with romaine lettuce and radishes, and was served on top of the noodles instead of underneath. There were no bean sprouts. The tofu was a bit overfried to the point of being too crunchy, but otherwise it was a tasty fusion. Photo: If in the area I may pop in again for a quick salad roll, but wouldn’t see myself rushing back to the area to visit again.

I have been a huge fan of this place since it opened almost 3 years ago. My staple is the Noodle Soup. Forget chicken noodle, when I’m sick this is what I crave. I’ve never had the meat, only the veggie and the tofu with the veggie broth. I love that they can make it to-go, so many other noodle soup places refuse! The spring rolls are another tasty treat! Not too greasy and they come in appy or dinner versions. The reason I gave them four instead of five stars? They are closed on Sunday.

delicious, cheap and clean. The soup here is very good, the best phở on the commercial drive strip. The service is friendly and you can help yourself to all the filtered water you want! yay! I don’t think there is anything on the menu over 10 bucks.

A meal for under 9 bucks! On The Drive @ Venables, across from Bump N Grind Café you will find Stix. This part of Commercial is usually quieter than the rest and you can always find parking just up the block in the residential area. It’s simple and cute and always clean, bright and new feeling although it’s been there for a while. The people that run it are really nice and the food is fresh and tasty. Hot soups, rice dishes and meat. I have to rave about the Malaysian beef curry, which you can order vegg too. It’s like coming home to mama’s house, slurping up a large steaming bowl of comfort.
