Amy is really nice and helpful. She listened to what I wanted for my hair. She did a great job. I am really happy with my new hair style. She is also quick.
The price is so cheap too. It was 17 $ for a woman’s haircut. I have a short hair though. The price may vary slightly.
The thing that could be improved is waiting time. Basically there is not an exact scheduling. The whole hair salon is run by Amy. It was my first time to go here, I called and told her what time I would be there. But by the time I arrived, there were two others in line and I waited for about half an hour.

Friendly and efficient haircut for a great price! I’m not from Vancouver and I walked in without an appointment, within 30 minutes my hair is clean and well cut.

I’ve been here a few times now and I think this place is pretty swell. The $ 15 price for a hair cut is hard to beat and the service is nice and friendly. She also asks what you like as she goes which is good. She basically works with first come, first serve so if there is a line up you’ll have to wait to get cut. So try and go when it’s not too busy. But she cuts fast and efficient so an average cut will just take like 15 minutes at the most. I’m happy with her cuts so I have no reason to go anywhere else for a hair cut.

Have gone here for three years, even though the haircuts have never been that good. Amy is super nice and the haircuts are cheap. But today was the last straw. She was very busy, and rather than tell people that they could wait in order or can me back another day, she just told people «Come back in an hour.» For those who don’t know Amy, this may seem like they’ve guaranteed their spot in line. Upon returning, however, people realized they were just starting over at the back of the (now longer) line. But I digress…
The reason I’m never going back is because she butchered my hair. I mean, it’s never been a great haircut, but today was just plain unacceptable. Being busy isn’t an excuse. My hair is completely uneven — I have chunks of hair that vary from .5−2 inches in length (all on the top)! I’m going to have to go to a different place tomorrow and try to have them run damage control. Really disappointed — sweet lady, but borderline inept (managing customers and cutting hair).

I’m very picky about haircuts; I have a lot of difficult spots that grow out uneven, backwards and every which way.
Also I REALLY hate the necessity of getting one, but slightly prefer hair over being bald.
Thus, I have a difficult relationship with hairdressers, which is to say that I Don’t.
However, Amy not only did a great job on my head, she is pleasant and is surprisingly cheap! ($ 16. for a GOOD haircut…)

I have yet to have a bad experience here. The cut are quick and reliably well-​done, and you can often just find a photo you love and get it cut the same quite accurately. You can’t beat the price, although sometimes you’ll have to wait a bit. Great for walk-​ins! I’ve never noticed anything «grimy» here, as one reviewer put it, but I’ll have to look closer next time.

They may be able to cut hair for a good price, but the grimy hair brush they used on me was disgusting. And my husband tells me their washroom is filthy. Really unfortunate considering the high reviews they get on the quality of their service and skills.

Good cut, good price, friendly & professional service. I was a walk-​in and showed her pics of the pixie cut I wanted and she promptly went to work. She checked with me as she went to make sure I was comfortable going short, and she was done in just 20 minutes (no washing first) — only $ 16 and I was very pleased!

After attempting to get a haircut here the other day only to find it was not open, I finally was successful. From the outside, one would not have very high expectations. This is a nice little hidden gem though. I was pleasantly surprised as the haircut was pretty good, and it took a lot less time than what I am used to in a standard salon. The nice Ethiopian lady was quite chatty and friendly, and I left very satisfied.

It was okay. Honestly, it was $ 15 and I got what I paid for and I really like the lady. But based on these other reviews, I was expecting a better haircut.

Tried to make an appointment: «we operate on first come first serve basis»
OK, what’s the average wait time then? «oh, I don’t know»

The haircut itself is really good — it took a very short time (much shorter than almost all my previous haircuts!) and is exactly the length I wanted it to be! I would have given 5 stars if it was not for the waiting time, which I felt was a little bit long.

I just went and got my haircut there. I’m a guy and have longer hair, and am very fussy about how my hair looks. I am also quite shy when it comes to telling people what I want, and it usually just ends up with them doing what they think is best, and I go home and fix what I do not like.
This is one of the few times I got home and didn’t have to do anything. She was wonderful with asking about smaller areas, and how I would like it, and gave a recommendation if I wasn’t sure. In the end my hair was a bit shorter than I would of thought I’d like (which always happens at all the places I go) but it looks great.
When I got there, there were some older guys there, and she was cutting their hair very well. I’m a younger guy and she did it great. Overall I am very impressed and would definitely go again. Also recommended it to my brother who will go shortly! The price was much cheaper than other places I usually go to as well.

Went back here for a second hair cut and walked away impressed once again.

I just wanted to add that Amy got my hair blonde, not orange, during the summer and I have Jet black hair almost so that was pretty amazing. And the best part is it was all under $ 200. I’m sorry but you cannot find this deal and outcome anywhere else combined!

i am loath to post such a positive or any review at all, really, because this place is AWESOME and i don’t really want to wait 3 hours to get a haircut next time i need one.
however, i feel superior quality and value should be commended.
i am a pain in the ass about my hair and my cut at studio 16 exceeded my expectations.
amy was friendly and attentive and let me ‘guide’ the cut.
this will be my ‘barber’ of choice when i’m in vancouver…
