My husband and i miss this place so much. I wish i didnt have to move away so i could eat their sushi all the time :( This is the place that made my husband love sushi. As soon as we go up again this will be our first stop like always :) The alaska and salmon tempura roll with some salmon nigiri is our go to!

Cheap price, kitchen-style décor, fast service but no wild salmon — watch out for the lice-infested farmed salmon which is not exclusive to this establishment.

If you want to be full with sushi then this is the place to go. Their portions are generally bigger than the other sushi places. Not only are the portions bigger for a reasonable price, their quality is also pretty good. I like this place because they also have some specialty rolls such as the tempura unagi roll. This place is like a next door neighbor joint so nothing fancy-looking, but if you want a quick bite and get fed you should try this place out! There are plenty of parking available.

One of the better sushi bento box places in this part of Vancouver(Marpole). I’ve been eating & taking out here almost 5 years. They’ve always been consistent with the quality of the Bento Boxes I’ve had, both the beef and chicken are always fresh and savory. Even the ginger & wasabi is fresh. Just remember they accept cash only.

Possibily my new favourite Japanese Sushi restaurant. Came to this place on recommendation by my colleague, and I’m so happy I followed through on it. Not only does the Sushi King have an extensive menu, it seems like everything that is on it is of the up most superior quality. My wife & I started our order off with a plate of Salmon Sashimi & the appetizer Tempura, and in all honesty, if I was served that Tempura in a 5 star restaurant for $ 35, I would have been happy to pay it as it was that good. Then we moved on to the spicy tuna crunch roll, which was not my personal favorite, but was still very flavorful. After that we ordered a Mango Paradise roll which was basically a California roll will salmon & mango on top. Spectacular. Overall I must say go go go to this place… Amazing quality, taste & the price is very good.

Sushi King is the best sushi in Marpole! It’s so fresh and the pieces are HUGE!!! Service is great and it’s totally affordable!!! Everytime I go in I’m greeted with a smile and the food is never a long wait!!! Amazing! Thanks Sushi King!!!

By far my favourite go to place for sushi. Their rolls are massive and their prices are reasonable! I’ve never had a bad roll there. I tend to stick to what I guess is known as aafe sushi… California rolls, avacado, tamago, dynamite, chicken teryiaki, etc however my friend goes for the BC roll with salmon skin. We’re regulars here! There are definitely better places to go for more sophisticated sushi but this place makes me feel welcome. The service has always been great and prompt. I’m always full after eating here. They still only take cash. Limited seating inside but worth it.

For the longest time this was my go to sushi place but recently I’ve noticed that it smells in there. Every time I walk out I smell like fish and grease. On the up side service it generally good and quick with lots to chose from too. I would suggest getting take out rather then eating in to avoid the smell.

I’ve sampled a number of sushi places in the area and must say that Sushi King House is by far the best. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. For some reason people have been complaining that the portions are too large… but i don’t see how that’s a problem. Sampled pretty much everything on the menu and I’m stuck on the Bento Box C, Dynamite Roll and Spider Roll. Waitress is very professional and service is fast even when they are crowded, location is somewhat small but is always clean and tidy. Only issue is they don’t take credit/debit but there is a bank on the same street so its mostly an inconvenience.

Have been going to this place for the past two years now and I love the food/price ratio. Gone there so much that I just sit down and the waitress brings my order lol. Fresh food at a reasonable price. Im a total fan.

Wow, this place is BAD. It’s hailed as the«biggest sushi in town» and I don’t doubt it. I ordered the Bento Box 1 and the California roll was so big it took 3 bites to finish it(after it fell apart on the first attempt). The B.C. roll was also made with way too much hard-packed rice, difficult to eat, and very unappetizing. The Gyoza was limp and looked like pieces of leftover dim sum. Not impressed and not coming back.

When beer budgets rule, this is where we head. We often dine-in, but it’s mostly take-away. We moved away from the area 7 years ago, but we still go to this Sushi King(and the Kerrisdale location) because we find the value they offer is hard to beat. The fish is fresh, humongous — as has been stated many times, decently prepared and we’re always greeted by a very friendly team. These guys are our all-time favourite non-Japanese-run Go-To sushi place!

The 5 stars still stand, but don’t get the Spicy Crunch roll. It supposedly uses cooked tuna, but honestly it tastes like Spam. I had this roll twice. Yup, definitely Spam. If I could, I would reduce the review to 4.8 stars because of this small black mark on an other flawless record. The toro is quite decent, as well as their ikura. The uni is quite fragrant(better than Samurai), and is quite the deal for the size of the piece.

We have take out from here as the price is very reasonable and the Sushi is fresh. My lunch box 3 is so good, I have to add it in this review. The Gyoza skin is thin and nicely pan fried with flavorful pork inside, with sashimi, beef teriyaki don and salad, this is a value meal for $ 8.50 We usually order ½ order Salmon Sashimi Maki Combo A — Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll and California Roll Alaska Roll All the above is enough for dinner and left over for lunch the next day. We used to come for dinner and ordered the Prawn Tempura but we don’t like it any longer as I think they change the batter for it so now it taste heavy and oily and not the panko batter like before. The Gyoza is still good, very thin skin with flavourful pork inside.

I’m not in love with this place anymore. I’m disenchanted. The quality that they’re putting out has fallen, compared to last year. Their House Roll is the best item on the menu, but everything falls apart. Their Spicy Tuna Roll is awful; I feel as though I’m eating a mashed jelly of «spicy-ness». The sushi pieces are sloppily put together. And their lunch box… I think it’s overpriced for the amount you’re getting. There are other places that offer lunch box menus with better deals and food quality. Their pan-fried Yakisoba could be better by adding more veggies and meat, and sauce. It’s too blend. Unless Sushi King steps it up, other sushi joints in Marpole will overshadow them.

«Bigger is not Better». Yesterday I intended to have sushi at Sakanaya Seafood and Sushi, however to my sushi sadness they recently closed down after 26 years of business. I knew a block away there was a Sushi King so hey why not give it a try. It is noted on their website as being the«Biggest Sushi in Town», lets see what the hype is about. First: let me set the tone: my expectations were generally low. When I looked at the menus that adorned the window walls, this to me felt like this was going to be a «Utility» sushi experience. I define Utility sushi by having several of the following characteristics a) low cost and b) being low to mid quality rolls and fish, c) likely getting a combo or bento box, d) large volume and generally good value. I had the Maki Combo(B) which consisted of the following: House ½ Roll, California ½ Roll, Spicy Tuna ½ Roll, Kappa Maki ½, Salmon Maki ½ General thoughts: Seriously lacking quality ingredients. I hate it when a California roll is 99% imitation crab and one sliver of avocado. The rice was so hard packed it felt like the sushi roll was pressed through a sausage maker. My biggest(pun intended) complaint was how ridiculously large the house roll is. It was as large as a beer coaster. How is it even possible to eat this in a normal way. To eat it, I had to dissect it and eat each individual part like it was a salad. I felt like I was the friends whom I was making fun of back in the 90’s when I was introducing them to sushi and they would hack up their rolls. I felt so much sushi shame. The sushi here is not fit for a king, nor a prince, nor a pauper. But hey, much like the movies, you sometimes have to watch a really bad movie to really appreciate the awesome ones.

Sushi King is like the McDonald’s of sushi! I come here when I’m looking for a quick bite at a low cost. I prefer this location over the one at West Boulevard cause it seems like they put more care into making their sushi here at the Granville location and their California rolls taste significantly better. Decent prices for massive rolls, nigiri and slices of sashimi(try their salmon) although I find some of their special rolls overpriced. Salmon & avocado roll(6 pieces) is $ 3.95 when Philadelphia roll(5 pieces) is $ 8.00 when it’s essentially the same roll + cream cheese … So I stick with the generic rolls :) I recommend the salmon sashimi, Alaska roll & House roll!

Out of all the sushi places in Vancouver, Sushi King House is a solid choice. I’ve been many times and always leave satisfied and full… no surprise stomach problems. Not excellent, fine quality sushi but very good and overall fresh tasting. Food: Big, huge rolls. The sushi comes with large portions of fish but also large portions of rice. Their lunch and dinner specials are always very filling and the tempura has a thick batter… again large potions and very filling. The BC rolls have layers and layers of salmon skin with cucumber and their salmon rolls has a good chunk of salmon with avocado. They certainly don’t skip on anything here… so you don’t have to worry about just filling up on too much rice. You can fill up on everything. Take out is fast and efficient. Restaurant isn’t fancy, just a typical sushi place with photos of their menu items posted all over the walls. A good to place to eat on a budget. *Call ahead and you can get a discount. Cash only!
