Really authentic Thai food. Service is great and reasonable prices. Probably the best Thai food I’ve had in Vancouver.

Good here is super good! Delicious! I really have to say that absolutely every dish I tried here was done to perfection. I have traveled to Thailand countless times, and this place is as good as it gets. Super authentic, great service, and most of all… the taste of the food is perfect. It really is a taste of Thai.

We had dinner today. Even though the décor looking from outside is quite simple, both the food and service are far more than expected. Thanks to others reviewers’ recommendations!

One of my favorite Thai places in Vancouver. I’ve been here twice and was very satisfied both times. The chicken Pad Thai here is my favorite in all of Vancouver and the serving size is quite large too for an affordable price. A word of advice is not to get anything above a 2 for spicy level if you have limited tolerance. I had 3 and drank at least 4 cups of water. The curry and soups are much more expensive and in smaller portions, so I wasn’t very satisfied. The taste of the curry(we had green curry) was good though. Service is very friendly but can be slow, especially on weekend nights. In fact, this place fills up quickly on weekend nights around 6−8pm. The food looks very beautiful. The place itself is quite large and well decorated; and appears clean compared to some other similar restaurants I’ve been to.

Friendly place. Good Thai food. Went here many many times with friends. Usually tried soup, fried rice, red/green curry. Always tried the desserts.

Used to be Montri’s, but still has the excellent food that Montri’s did. We live going there for dinner. Quaint, and quiet. Highly recommend it.

Delicious! The food is amazing, and the price is great for how much food you get. My favourites are the pad Thai, the green curry with chicken and the spring rolls. The staff is also incredibly nice and always down for a chat. Love this place and have been going for years.

Waited 1.5 hours for soup, then another 15 for MSG-laden food. Just got up after a stomach-churning sleepless night. So, this would be a bad review then. Food tastes sub-par and the portions are small, would have given 2 stars but I feel the need to bring the average down as I was duped. Stick to Maenam or go for Malaysian food at Banana Leaf

WOW! I had my first experience with Thai food tonight, and let me tell you this place was amazing! It’s a small restaurant and we had a party of almost 30. The service was spot on, took a little while for the food to start coming out as we had such a big group but it was definately worth the wait. The highlights of the meal were the pad eggplant(AMAZING!), Green curry with chicken, and there was also a Garlic prawn dish that was great as well. Honourable mention goes to the pad Thai and the green papaya salad AND the satay chicken with a to die for peanut sauce. I also could have eaten a bucketful of the coconut rice! I’m guessing it was the owner of the restaurant? I wish I would have gotten his name, but he was great and very attentive! I would recommend this place to anyone and I will be back! SOGOOD!!!

Good sized portions, great taste, spicy to your request, great service, and all for a good price. The restaurant has a nice interior and very friendly staff. Most importantly the food is great, and amongst the nicest Thai food I’ve had in Vancouver. Thoroughly recommended for dive in or take out although take out times can some times be long.

Ordered take away meals from here last week. Long wait for the food. The price was high on most of the items, but unfortunately the taste wasn’t there. The curries were bland, the portions were small for the price and the meat was of a sub par standard. I am not the only person to have eaten a lot of Thai food, but in my experience this was a let down. Star Thai on Yew are much better value, the meals are bigger and cost less, flavours are authentic and gob-smackingly delicious. Will give this place a miss going forward.

This place used to be called«Montri’s», but that was over 4 years ago. Up until last night, I had no idea that a new Thai place had sprung up in its place. But apparently«Taste of Thai» has been in existence for 3 years now! Will we just came in for a light meal, the sounds and smells in this place were awesome! I had the tom yum goong soup, and then the yum nua beef salad as a main course. My limited selection from the menu came from the fact that I was just dining with 1 other person, and that I’m also in the middle of a very strict 45 day paleo challenge. Both dishes fit the paleo bill, and both were outstanding! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because the service was a bit slow, but I’m guessing that was because it was the Sunday night of the Family Day long weekend, so I won’t be too harsh with my criticism there. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the dishes, because what I did sample was truly excellent.

This restaurant is not the same as Vij’s or Black and Blue, but for what they do they deserve 5 stars. This is your local neighborhood thai restaurant and they make very good Thai food at relatively reasonable prices. The owner is very friendly as is all the staff. The décor in the restaurant is very peaceful and its a nice place to go for dinner. The price of the food is reasonable for the location. This is a west side restaurant so don’t expect to get east side prices. Plenty of dishes in the $ 12-$ 15 range and they are very good. I have eaten here at least 12 times(sit down and takeout) and they consistently put out good food.

I have been searching for an authentic thai restaurant since moving to vancouver and after trying 10 different restaurants taste of thai is definitely it! I traveled across Thailand for two weeks and after eating thai there nothing has been close. Taste of thai is Authentic and just like the good in Thailand. I always get pad thai as a side and its amazing! It’s doesn’t taste like ketchup, like some of the other places I have tried. We have also had the Tom kha, green curry, mango sticky rice… All fantastic! The owners are also very friendly and they offered to make us dishes off the menu as well(we had some favourites after going to Thailand). I now go out of my way to get takeout from taste of thai!

Location: A nice, quiet restaurant. Comfortable chairs and large tables(with linen napkins!). A large, spaced out dining room gives each table privacy. A gold trimmed Thai décor gives the place an upscale authentic look. Service: Always friendly, the owner is a nice guy and will stop by to check on your meal. I’ve eaten here at least 5~ times in addition to the 10+ times I’ve gotten takeout and have never had any problems with service. Food: I LOVE their Curries and soups. I’ve tried every single one of the curries and I think that I find that their green curry with chicken is the best thing on the menu. However, there is one that comes topped with crispy shallots that is wonderful. Don’t forget to get a side of rice! I’m a pretty big guy and I am always stuffed after coming here and so I assure you that the quantities are quite ample. My partner always gets the Pad See Ew(stirfried rice noodles, I think?) and I always steal a few bites. I love it! Drinks: Full bar, complete with a selection of beers imported from Thailand(get one if you’re getting something spicy!) Rating: It gets such a good rating because this is the best Thai restaurant I’ve found outside of Downtown. However, t’s a bit too expensive for me(a college student living on loans). However, if I had a real job I wouldn’t really care about a 2 – 3 dollar difference, and so I rounded it up to a 5 from a 4.5~

It’s a Saturday evening, and we’re here with a family friend for dinner. There is no debate as to the authenticity of this Thai restaurant. The Thai owner’s Thai wife slaves away in the kitchen all night, preparing Thai food from the middle region of Thailand. As far as I’m concerned, the waiting staff were all Thai as well. See, this is the problem for me. When you’re looking to pay $ 15/dish for miniscule-sized portions, you’re also looking for something to remember in terms of quality and taste. Unfortunately, this place overcharges for the quality and quantity of their food. With that said, the food is quite delicious; it’s just not as delicious as the prices they charge. Furthermore, before you get two bites out of the it, it’s gone! Whether you’ve come as a group or individually, I do not see how this may be a completely pleasant experience when either way, you’ve splashed a significant amount of money on food that hardly cured any hunger or craving; unless you ordered a lot of food, which would entail a very fat bill. Now, had it been *amazing* in terms of taste, you would have thought: «Fine, that was worth it.» In this case, it’s more of a: «Oh well, at least it was quite tasty.» My advice to you, lovely Unilocal folk, is to try it if you must, but I can render a guess that you won’t become a regular any time soon.

Completely and entirely decent. The music is a bit obnoxious, and the décor is not anything special. The waitress was attentive, and the arrival of the food was super speedy. We were informed that on some nights, they deliver! The Pad Thai is perfect, and you can even select a spiciness level for your meal. It seemed a bit overpriced for what it was, however that didn’t stop us from enjoying the food. Out of convenience, I would definitely dine here again, unless I find another Thai place with a similar ingredient quality soon!

Solid food, good service. Nothing too fancy but a nice, local Thai eatery. Good pad thai and a great light peanut sauce on our satay appetizer. We’ll definitely be going again to try some of the other dishes!

January Dinner Club brought us here because one of my friend’s raved about Montri’s. It was good — for some reason we ended up ordering what seemed to be a lot of deep fried food. The good news is that everything was hot and the dipping sauces were tasty. The chicken satay was pretty good though the peanut sauce was a little on the bland side. I really enjoyed the pad thai and the green curry as they were both full of flavour. The eggplant and pork dish was just ok — a little greasy. This place is a good place to go in the area if you’re jonesing for Thai but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
