A public space, The Terry Fox Plaza easily rivals BC place stadium itself for the best part of the 2011 $ 563 million renovation. A testament to the policy it is born from(that every corporate or government development past a certain dollar amount must spend a percentage on works of public art), this plaza is the one of the best views to take in the awe of the massive and impressive stadium. The Douglas Coupland piece is the focal point of this plaza, with 4 statues of the iconic Terry Fox, each larger than the one before, lined up to animate his signature stride during his Marathon of Hope across Canada. The inspiring metal figures immortalize the amazing humanitarian that was Terry Fox, and in-person you can really feel the impact of how one person CAN make a real difference for good in this world, and even though it is easy to feel small, one person can be larger than life.
