My friends and I came here for brunch. The server was amazing, she was hilarious and adorable. The interior of the restaurant is kind of a dive, but I think that’s kind of the charm of it, amongst all of the hipster opulence of Main Street. We ordered brunch, and it was perfect! Perfectly poached eggs, the hashbrowns were seasoned so well and my friends got double Caesars, which were on special. It’s fairly reasonably priced and the service is awesome. It’s extremely casual, kind of a hangover place or if you just want some pub grub and drinks.

The five points: 1. Unpretentious. 2. Beer is good. 3. Food is good. 4. Music level is perfect. 5. Not a hipster magnet.

Been coming here on a regular or semi-regular basis for almost a decade. Extensive beer selection, decent food(their chicken wings are some of the best in the city), a nice size patio which is great for people watching and big screens for watching sports. Wings are fifty cents on Tuesdays. The staff are friendly and the service is usually not bad. Unfortunately the place started to go downhill a little while ago; rumor has it management changed. The prices are above average for a Main Street pub, yet the quality of the food doesn’t reflect that… they used to have a good burger but now it seems their focus is on flatbread pizza, which is ok, nothing to write home about. The place can get really loud, to the point where it’s impossible to have a conversation without yelling. All in all the Five Point is a great place to go for wings and beer on a Tuesday, or if you don’t mind the loudness, it’s also good for watching a game on the big screen. Other than that, I have a really hard time justifying going here when there are better choices at the same price point nearby.

This visit to the Five Point was pleasant. It was done during the day, and met with the minor buzz of the nooner crowd, Guns and Roses on the stereo, and an instant blast of that oh so pleasant spilt beer smell, which one magically becomes immediately used to. The servers were very pleasant and kept us satisfied. Food came nice and quick, and we were a bit confused over a few items, but nothing short of what you’d expect from… a local beer spot serving food. The bottom of the pizza had a good bit burnt(which weirdly gave a Tuscan open flame feel to it when taken at the same time as the tomatoe sauce) not just brown, and the dressing on the salad had me thinking of Thailand, but fell drastically short with being lost in limbo somewhere. The pizza itself was good, with some very tasty sauce and some pesto that once again made me feel like I was a bit let down(was it pesto?), and not yet in the big boys(big taste) club, with green olives that I’m fairly certain came from a can.

Nice enough food and service, but do not dig how they let smokers smoke right by the patio. Will not go back because of the continual smoking throughout my meal.

Overpriced beer and food. The food portions were small and did I mention the beer was overpriced.

So let me start off by saying that the patio has the best seats in the house. Its quite nice. The rest of this place is dark and dungeness. It’s dark, stuffy and… well… old. The positives… they had some really good poutine. The gravy was on point! The service was good. Our waitress was always ready to get us another drink. Super friendly and polite waitresses. I would definetly come back and order more on the menu. If not… at least more poutine!

5 Points is a fun bar. Their wings night definitely has great wings for a good bang for buck value. I had the flat bread pizza — the wild boar bacon and brussel sprouts to be specific. It was actually just average. There was very little wild boar bacon and it was sprinkled onto more of one side the the flat bread. As a result of that while that part was definitely very tasty, the rest of the flat bread was very brussel sprouty. We also ordered the nacos. The nacos come on on a bed of deep fried black beans which was surprising(and tasty). unfortunately you have to eat everything super fast because if you don’t it gets soggy.

I’ve been here a handful of times. The servers and bartenders have almost always been friendly and efficient. I have always been off-put by how loud it is in there. If there aren’t people drunkenly yelling(it’s a small place… maybe the size of a two bedroom apartment), then the music is way too loud. There’s always something, but it’s never a problem to switch seats. That’s why I would have given this place 3 stars. However, the reason why I have put this on my personal«never come here again» list is because last time I was there with my boyfriend, a table of about 6 people sat beside us while we were having a relatively quiet time together on the opposite side of the room as the bar(we clearly tried to stay away from the noisy bar). The place was my busy so they could have sat almost anywhere else. They started talking to us and continued even when we showed we were clearly not interested in talking to them, but they were drunk so we let that slide. But the girls… they were something. Jumping up onto guys, SCREAMING. Like… I’m not talking about normal girly yelling… this one girl actually sat there for 15 seconds just SCREAMING. I don’t know why. My boyfriend told me he recognized these people are industry at The Five Point. Most servers and bartenders I know make a point of not getting drunk at their own workplace, but these employees took it to a new extreme. We considered switching seats but we had had enough by this point. We were so annoyed by these employees that we got up to get our server and got our bill immediately. I’m never going there again.

I went here to watch a sporting event with my girlfriend. I intended to stay for the whole thing and ordered food and drinks. the server was standoffish and after receiving our orders, we were ignored. halfway into the game, we had a bill slapped onto the table with no explanation. now, she was in her 30s, as am I although my girlfriend is in her early 20s and is black. I am white. we felt judged and she was seriously offended as it was virtually empty and we were clearly there for the game. this demographic(white, thirty a something female) seems to have a problem with age-disparate, bi-racial couples. also, the prices are way too high for the quality of food and the state of the gross bathrooms.

My friend and I were stumbling around Car free day on Main Street– and were famished– wanting a sit down place to eat and rest– NOT the food kiosks. We came upon the Five Point which was(of course) absolutely packed to the rafters with revelers. One of the staff came running out from behind the bar, and offered us 2 seats at the bar, because(of course) the place was packed, and no one was in a hurry to finish their beers and leave. It was nightmare-ishly busy for the staff, and we were entertained by watching the guys behind the bar bartend in a frenzy. We ordered nachos and were shocked that they arrived in about 10 minutes– so fast for how busy this place was. Perfectly cooked, and the best nachos I have had in ages, and my friend agreed. We asked for our bill and were shocked at the(low) amount of our bill. $ 7.95 for half order of nachos ?? We’ll be back for those alone. It was a «Luau» party on Car Free day– so I cannot comment on what this place is like on ‘normal’ days– but the friendly, fast service, excellent prices and wicked nachos exceeded our expectations. Kudos to the staff for sprinting around with hula skirts, grinning ear to ear in the midst of all the madness going on inside!

Another bar along main street, we dropped by here after dinner and drinks in another restaurant. we never eat because we are still full only drinks, big place, tV and wifi free, parking by the street im loving this location because its just 8 blocks away from my place, just walking no problem to park and i can drink as much as i can coz ill just walk start of. our table is not so clean a bit sticky actually, service is average, lots of selection for cocktails and beer… a beer called delirium tremens serve with a glass with elephants design and its 8% alcohol content not my favorite cos it taste bitter to me, other beer are good, we had few drinks then we call it a night, i was drunk actually that it takes me forever to walk and reach my place hahahahhaa… not a bad place to have a drink, noise level was a high when we came in… wash room is clean and staff were friendly…

I’ve been here twice. The first time was for brunch. The place was not that busy but the service was super slow. I got eggs Benny and it was good. Prices are a bit high but the food was good so I chalked it up. Went again tonight. The music was good but was so loud. We all ordered flatbread(5 of us) and none of us were fans. I got margarita and it was so bland. There was no cheese and no basil(the definition of a margarita). The service was also poor. It was busy but our waitress was not that attentive to our table. Not a fan.

Friendly staff and a great selection of beers on tap. Went on a Saturday night and the place was full of locals, who were all friendly. No agro Surrey types here. Bathrooms could be better though.

Decent place to go for reasonably priced drinks and ESP on their special nights like wings night for 50 cents or Wednesday trivia night– winner gets a free pitcher. The wings were a little crispier than expected but better than average. They were bigger and quite tasty. Should definitely try it on wings night. The servers were nice and smiley. Def don’t try to order after a big group or else you’ll be waiting for awhile. Don’t forget to ask for the little finger bowls to clean your hands afterwards. Quite little tavern without too much Rucus and even had a projector screen so you could watch the game on all the walls no matter where you were. Will be back for their prime ribs night and oyster night.

Was just walking by the area with my wife and decided to drop in for dinner. She had the fish and chips, which looked delicious and came with 2 good portions of fish. I had the steak frites(unfortunately the prime rib was sold out) which was cooked perfectly and had a delicious herb butter on top. Service was great too! Only downside was that one of our water glasses was quite dirty and the coke I ordered was very watered down. Other than that it was great!

So long story short, my date and I had a disappointing evening that would have included nachos… but we couldn’t go and were just JONES’ING. Cruised down Main and came across The Five Point. Great patio, so we stopped. Service here was friendly, but not satisfying by any means. Very little attention given, even at the beginning to welcome us and grab our drink orders. Then the drinks took upwards of 15 minutes to arrive. The caesar I ordered wasn’t very good. could have sworn I tasted ginger in there? I think they’re still working out the recipe — or at least I hope it’s a work in progress… We ordered our nachos and were pleasantly surprised by how big it was and at a decent price of $ 17(ok for pub nacho standards I ‘spose). A lot of fun ingredients like bean purée on the bottom, corn, peppers and then all the basics. Lots of layered cheese. Great salsa. We were completely satisfied. Two of us couldn’t finish it. So again, service wasn’t great, and didn’t improve throughout the night. She was quirky but completely under-served us. Empty drinks would sit on the table. she would walk by and not even inquire for several minutes. I would go back to try some of their other stuff I think. Maybe.

First, this place gets the usual bonus points for being in a very cool neighbourhood near my office and especially for having a more interesting /better cider on tap than just Strongbow. I came here recently for lunch with a couple of colleagues and was happy to learn that the fish tacos are gluten free. I like the addition of melted cheese in between the two corn tortillas(I’ve had tacos with two torillas but never with melted cheese in between) and the flavours were great. My one minor complaint is that they were a bit stingy with the quantity of fish, but overall a very enjoyable lunch. The service was friendly and the patio is a good place to catch some rays while people watching on Main Street.

They have trivia every Wednesdays and it was super awesome! The questions were all good, and there were so many prizes. I’m very picky about trivia and Our Town café is still #1 in my heart, but until that starts up in the Fall, this is a good backup for my trivia fix. I’ve been here twice before and each time was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Last time we had nachos and they were fantastic, and then I tried one of their pizzas and it was also delicious. This place seems terribly underrated — my friends and I had a great time here.
