Sitting in a coffee shop, therefore, taking the time to clear out some of the drafts that have been sitting in my inbox for 4 months of local reviews in attempt to reduce my list one at a time(I have over 60 drafts). My best friend and I have window shopped and entered once at least every other week coming down here from the record store. The reason why this hasn’t been reviewed before is ’cause we never made a purchase and I wanted to wait to make a legit purchase before reviewing. We bought vintage glass marbles. I have a weird obsession with these and a kitsch. The first time going into an antique store was when I was little and my sister took me to Gastown on sister dates when we would visit my dad and I remember seeing some glass marbles so the fascination steams from that.

A tight 3.25 stars because personally for me, I wouldn’t need to shop here for no reason so it’s a purposeful trip for me. Been here a few times with clients looking for a specific piece for their business. I wouldn’t say it’s consignment as vintage, which was more impressive. They even had a baby stroller from the 1950s, with the huge steel arcs. Shopped here for mostly chandeliers and dressers, the attention to detail back then is good stuff. Also saw those treasure chests, boy, are they ever solid. Highly recommend for anyone yearning to buy something in the past. More furniture here, than that one on Commercial Drive. A mainstay corner location here for years along Main St.

Love, love, love this store! They have some amazing furniture items for sale, some great for fellow chalk painting furniture recyclers, and others you just want to leave as they are because they are so beautiful! Great prices too for antiques and vintage furniture in Vancouver,

They have some gorgeous pieces here and are priced at a more reasonable number than the other various vintage stores that I’ve visited. They seem to encourage the buyer to get creative with the furniture they offer by offering glazing and painting courses on how to give them a nice shabby chic look. The staff at the counter seem knowledgable about their products and feel like they want to be there.

Somewhere straddling the line between antiques and thrift, The Main Sellution strikes a chord with my tastes. There’s decades worth of furniture, including wash stands from the early 1900s, a plethora of dressers, vanities, nightstands, «smoking tables,» arm chairs from the 70s and handmade dining room tables — or at least there was when I was there last. Items are piled atop of one another with aisles formed from lining up pieces back to back. It has a certain Value Village quality to it — a slightly musty smell, bright fluorescent lighting, hospital white-ish floors, staff that are really bummed to be working when they could be outside enjoying a summer day. For all of the shops like this on Main, I think this one has some of the better deals. A bureau of drawers on sale for $ 58? Wood? Really? Seems unheard of. If you’re shopping for furniture, not antique knickknacks, you’ll find some seriously solid selection around these parts.

I have some some pretty great finds over the years at Sellution… the stock changes quite often. the pieces are a range of mid-century.provincial.colonial.crappy 1970’s …you name it… The prices are pretty fair. not like some others on Main that are way over priced… and they do lower them after the items have been there a while… you can also try and strike up a deal… They have some great dressers to choose from. which is what we are in the market for… some a little worse from ware but with a little TLC you could have a great new piece from your home…

This shop seemed a bit more on the«second hand» than«antique» side of things, but the furniture looked pretty sturdy and there was a fair selection of nic nacs, some cool lamps, vases and other decorative things for the home. They do consignment for furniture and have a selection ranging from antique to mid-century modern to contemporary. The prices are quite reasonable and the man in the shop was really helpful and we found a gem here!

I went in here expecting to find some great second-hand bargains but came out a little disappointed. It seemed like more of an antique store than a second-hand furniture store. They definitely weren’t selling antiques though — as the woman who owned the place told a man who came in. It was the prices and the smell made it seem very«antiquey». A musty and«old» smell encapsulated the room and most of the pieces were dusty, scratched, or at least very well worn. To be fair, I think this was their aim. Most of the pieces are old and I’m sure that they would appeal to many tastes, just not mine. I did find an old Chintz & Co. glass and metal table I really liked and another two glass and gold metal tables that I’m uming and ahing over. The glass and gold metal tables were only about $ 110 each but the Chintz & Co. table was over $ 200. I’d definitely come back to Sellution again. These types of stores sometimes have some rare finds that stay with you for years.

The Main Sellution is a large-ish store where you are almost certain to find a tasteful or groovy piece for your home. It might be a dresser with an attached vanity mirror from last century, or it might be a funky old television or a couch covered in velvet damask fabric. Whatever corner of your home needs some doing up, you are likely to find something worthwhile here if you look hard enough or keep coming back as there is always something new and worth admiring. The prices here are not inexpensive, but they are fairly reasonable, and with so much selection, you can be sure to find what you’re looking for.
