Vancouver Bullion and Currency Exchange entered the foreign exchange business in 1989 with the opening of its first branch at 402 Hornby Street. A tremendous increase in demand from both the retail and corporate sector led to our expansion to our current head office at 800 Pender Street. Especially with the Canadian dollar completely bombing, this is the best place to exchange currency. Can’t find any other place with better rates. If I could avoid using my credit card abroad, I will.
When I first visited, they gave me a «preferred customer» card which gives you minutely better rates/​discounts than what they show you on their exchange rates board outside. Try asking for one the next time you go there.
Just make sure to go either early in the morning when they open or right before they close, because their lunchtime lines will have you waiting for a while.

On my second day in the city, I made my way over to Vancouver Bullion & Currency Exchange. The bellman of the hotel that I’m staying at recommended that I go there instead of exchanging my cash at the hotel or the bank. It was only a five minute walk away from the hotel, and it was very easy to find.
I walked in and I immediately noticed the long line. I looked at my watch and noticed it was 4:00 pm. Judging by the other reviews, I figured the line would go down pretty fast, so I didn’t mind the wait at all. 20 minutes later, one of the workers waved me over to his desk. I really like the fact that each desk was separated by walls, just like a cubicle. The wall/​window behind us was frosted, so that was a nice touch to maintain each customer’s privacy.
The worker who was helping me was really nice and helpful. He was quick, but it didn’t feel like he was rushing me at all. There was some small talk here and there, but he was very professional. I’m so glad that I exchanged my USD for CAD here instead of settling it at the hotel. The rate and service was definitely worth the wait.

Travelled to Thailand, and the rates at the Thai airport and local kiosks were substantially better than VBCE rates. Yes VBCE probably has better rates than banks, but you might get a better rate exchanging in your destination. This is especially true for USD, which is in high demand in Asia…

Recently I went into this location with $ 3000 Canadian, I approach the counter it handed the teller the money. She counted it instead do you have ID I said ID why do you require ID under $ 10,000? She told me because of money laundering for drugs money! I informed her I didn’t understand what she was getting at she told me that any currency given to them over $ 2900 their policy is to request identification. I said hand me back my money as she did then I said to her in that case I will give you $ 2800 and not use my identification she said you cannot do that read the sign on the wall. I looked at the tiny sign off to the left written it in English and some other languages. I was not told of this before the transaction begun. She also informed me that it was mandated by the government of Canada. I told her you’re lying! There is no acting code on the description of what you’re requesting so therefore you are must be lying. Also I do not like the fact that if a foreigner save from Europe was in the same situation and felt over a barrel that this kind of draconian request would come under no scrutiny. And leaving a sour taste in our visitors mouth. I spoke to the manager also and try to explain the situation they said that’s our policy I said your policy won’t work I’ll simply have one of my employees come in here with $ 1000 Canadian for a couple days and transfer into American funds! Which I have done now I hope did they collect all ID on all monies that way they can waste a lot of their time in money collecting frivolous information in accusing people of felonies there’re a pack of scumbags don’t do business with them there’s other places!

Chronically long lineups every time I come here no matter the day or time. It’s getting harder to swallow the good exchange rates when you have to waste half an hour or more waiting in the confusing and constricting lineup. I’ll look elsewhere to exchange $ next time.

I have always gone to the Vancouver Bullion Exchange for all my exchange needs.
More recently, I went to the their downtown location as it was very central and on my way to my next appointment. I needed a lot of Korean Won and not many places I knew would have this currency and at the best exchange. I was very pleasantly greeted by Eric, one of their staff members and he was very helpful. He answered all my questions and I got exactly what I needed and at a great exchange. Great service!
I wanted to also mention about the overall appearance of the store front. I have to say it was very professional yet personable, informative with the large screens, clean, and well laid out, and still provided individual privacy for my requests.
I would recommend this exchange over any others.

Ok gang here we go… I was by Vancouver Bullion & Currency Exchange this afternoon. I needed some US cash so where else would I go? Unilocal has an offer so that Unilocal users can automatically be given a Preferred Rate ID Card. I took advantage of this offer and showed my phone (with the offer in the Unilocal app) to the teller. The teller gave me their «Preferred Rate»… I got $ 500 US the teller told me with the Preferred Rate I saved about 50 cents!!! If I knew it was that little I won’t have wasted my time! Hahah
Anyways the teller asked me if I wrote reviews on Unilocal.I indicated affirmative. He asked me to write a review for Vancouver B & C Exchange. I told him my reviews are not always glowing and I tell it like it is. For example I told him, I did not like waiting 20 mins in line to see a teller. He said I should come in the morning (I was there around 12 pm) or around 4. It would be less busy. Fair enough he said… so here’s my review…
Ok… I know it’s busy around lunch time. People who work and have to exchange currency can only do it at lunch time, but here’s a suggestion… hire more tellers! There were only 2 tellers at the under $ 2000 line. It was a cold wet day and everyone is miserable we don’t want to be standing in a line for upwards of 20 mins! Here’s another suggestion… maybe serve some coffee… surely it isn’t too costly! There are lots of currency exchange places springing up everywhere, be a bit generous and develop some customer loyalty.
I’m sure my suggestions will fall on deaf ears, but I kept my promise Mr. Teller… :))

The rate is indeed good here. But they recently changed line up system. As a result, people with under $ 2000 exchange needs have to line up on one end in a jammed space. I definitely felt the service has been slower than in my past visits. Probably won’t go anymore as other places can be quicker.

I had to exchange some currency from my trip back to England, and I had never been here before, preferring to stop in at my local Vancity. This time my coworkers spoke so highly of the bullion that I thought I should give it a shot! Their exchange rates are the best I’ve seen, and the staff are super friendly and chatty, which I love! The line is always super long, so be prepared to wait, and it’s often very hard to see which teller is available due to the full length frosted glass windows dividing each booth; this is great once you’re being served, however as you feel very private and secure.
Service was fast and friendly, and if you have time for the line is certainly worth it.

This place has great exchange rates, in fact, the best. The staff are professional and they don’t charge you transaction fees. The one star I docked off was because they had only one window operating when I went in at around 3 today, ONE.
I had to exchange two currencies, one major and one exotic. The euros I got fairly quickly but the RONs had him running back and forth while I contemplated turning around and making an apologetic announcement for holding up the line of at least 20 customers. If they opened one other window it would really help speed things up.

I used to take all my currency transactions to this place. I bought two houses in the States in cash for which I used VBCE to exchange my Canadian dollars to USD. They were always good until the last time I exchanged money here. They were extremely unprofessional even though they were the ones that made an error on my transaction. Brutal experience and terrible customer service. I will not go here again.

This is one of the main currency exchange places downtown. It has a neutral bank feel to it.
They carry large amounts of notes at a very fair buy and sell rate.
The line-​ups are long, however, move at a very decent pace to meet demand. Regardless of what time you go you will be hit with a line.
You get to sit down with an individual teller for privacy.
They only accept cash and or debit for the transactions.
I had to buy Euro dollars for my trip to Spain in May and these guys had the best rate.
My bank told me that they had to «order the notes» and were going to charge me a higher rate. I was in and out the door with Euros in hand in less than 20 minutes.
The only downfall is that they close at 5 pm, therefore, if you’re not in the downtown area you have to leave work early.

We have used their downtown Vancouver ‘and’ south Granville Street locations — both to buy, and sell foreign currencies.
For us, most recent transactions have been between our Canadian dollars to/​from US dollars, and Mexican pesos. We find they offer ‘the’ best rates of exchange, always have the currencies on-​hand, and importantly, in ‘useable’ denominations.
And good service too. Yes, there definitely can be considerable line-​ups at each facility, but I’ve always found, with the good number of ‘windows’ they have available, or make available, the lines move rather quickly.
VBCE is where we have gone to exchange currencies for our past several trips. and it’s where we will go for our next one!

Great exchange rates! Much better than all of the banks around.
Excellent for business services as they do pickups and deliveries.
Very fast and personal in-​shop services — money transfer, foreign currency hassles they do it all!
For all you cross-​border shoppers who need to change your money, this is the best place to do it! No fees for exchanges! Tourists look here!!!
They also deal with gold, silver and other precious metals. Great customer service as well.
Only downfall is that it’s in Downtown so parking is always tough.
