Vancouver Lookout!

One of the budget friendly ways to enjoy Vancouver — your ticket is good for the day so you can enjoy sunny views in the morning (weather permitting) and come back at night to enjoy the city lights. As you walk around the lookout, they share a wealth of information about history of the places you can see via the lookout.
To those afraid of heights, just a note that to get up to the lookout, the elevator is external to the building so you’ll see and feel Vancouver as you go up – only takes about 40 seconds though (thought I’d note that here, hope it helps others).

The Vancouver Lookout was the first attraction I visited, and I am glad I chose this place first. Each window features a plaque with historical or cultural information that taught me a lot about the city. The information actually influenced my decisions on where to visit while I was in Vancouver. Also, the views are spectacular, and every angle is worthy of a photo.
I do; however, think this is a bit over-​priced for a lookout. I probably would not visit again, but this spot is definitely a must-​see for first-​time travelers.

You have to come up, it offers a view that you’ll not get anywhere in this city. Yes it’s touristy, yes sometimes is crowded. Want to avoid lines? Buy tickets online.
Beautiful on a clear day, you can see why Vancouver is one of the best livable cities in the world.

Amazing views– even on foggy days. Worth the price of admission for the 360 degree view of the city, and surrounding water and mountains! Not too crowded (much less than space needle). Great way to see the city, even on a rainy day!
Try the restaurant– rotates so you can view the entire city. Food and drinks were tasty, but pricey as you’d expect for such am amazing view!

This reminds me if going to the top of the Empire State Building. They stamp your hand and you can come back again during the day or evening. It’s a incredible view in all directions and there are plaques with great stories about parts of the city. Recommended for the view.

Fantastic views. You gotta stop by if you are in Vancouver. They have guided tours. You can SEE EVERYTHING. Spend anywhere from 1 – 4 hours up here.

I took my kids and this and it was worth the $ 17 admission. I walled counter-​clockwise and used my iPhone to get an 360 degree view of Vancouver. The views were great and the way the details are listed as you go from one spot to another is really helpful. You an point out all the sites in Vancouver. I would absolutely go again!

Late this afternoon, I went to the Vancouver Lookout.
Admission was about $ 17 … but that gets you an all-​day pass so you can go up as many times are you want that day.
I walked counterclock-​wise around the enclosed viewing deck. The views were great and there is lots of information about what you are looking at posted, along with historical info about Vancouver and BC.
Then I went upstairs a floor to the Top of Vancouver Revolving Restaurant and had a glass of wine and enjoyed the view. It goes clock-​wise and took about an hour to make a full rotation. When it’s not busy, you can apparently avoid the $ 17 viewing deck admission charge and go straight to the restaurant for the same view and have a meal, a drink or whatever.
I think the Vancouver Lookout is worth checking out if you are visiting Vancouver.

Fun, nice views of the entire city, but a little bit terrifying. The elevator takes you up, up, up and I wasn’t expecting an open class situation. Once we reached the top, the ground felt solid and the views were worth it.
A little pricey (I think around $ 20 CAD per person, but I may be mistaken) but the girl at the counter was really nice and gave us some insider tips about getting around the city. Overall, worth the trip. Plan to spend 30 minutes or so at the top!

DO NOT PAY O-​DECK PRICES — go to the restaurant and have a drink. For less than a ticket to the observation deck you will get to sit in the window and rotate for the full 360 degree view.
Also — have the Grower’s Peach — it’s amazing.

I definitely thought it was worth the money just to ride the small elevator that slowly draws riders up the outside of the lookout tower until they reach the observation deck. Something about sharing a hot cramped elevator with people you don’t know that helps you clear your mind a bit in preparation for what is to be see at the top.
Once you get to the observation deck, there are guides that circle the deck providing useful information and history about areas around the town and geological sites off in the distance. The guides are accurate and sometimes humorous which makes listening neat for a tourist like myself that knows nothing about Vancouver. Actually, all the workers are nice from the person that hands out maps of the city to the people that take your admission fee before you step into the elevator.
You can stay up top as long as you want and circle around time and time again. It’s air-​conditioned and enclosed. There are several spots to just sit and look or you can use one of the scopes strategically places around the deck to see key spots.
This site isn’t far from Gastown and is within walking distance of several restaurants, gift shops, and other touristy things, but you really can get a feel for how metropolitan and trendy Vancouver is from this one spot. The Vancouver Lookout certainly isn’t the tallest tower but it’s still a place to see if you want a panoramic view of the city and be able to scope out a plan of action for your day’s activities.

This is a good place to check out. It’s not that high but you get a decent view and a chance to get a little info about Vancouver. If you have a hosteling international card you get 50% off the adult rate so it comes to $ 8.95. That’s a good deal and less than the student rate. When I asked the girl didn’t know what I was talking about but offered to look in the system. When she couldn’t find it she offered to call to see if anyone else knew about the discount. It was listed as coupon. It was worth trying to find out.
This is an okay place to check out, the staff are friendly and it’s not that busy, but there are a lot of other things that are probably better to see here.

We came here right as it opened on my weekend, and it was pretty empty. It was a nice visit, although is wish the top were open (I don’t like glass when I’m taking pictures). Anyway, the view was nice, but it might’ve been even nicer higher up. We returned at night to watch the sunset, but a bunch of buildings were in the way. It still gave a pretty good view though; I would recommend coming here if you’re in the area! There’s also a bunch of brochures and such for tourists who are looking for other attractions!

Very touristy but very beautiful! It was awesome being able to walk around and get a 360 view of Vancouver. Along the sides they have little cards with trivia about all the landmarks you’re looking at. It’s about $ 16 CAD, but they do have a student discount (which is why I always bring my old college ID with me).
Get here during sunset! We went a little after 8:00PM on a Saturday and there was no crowd.

The view was nice to see all of Vancouver, but the elevator ride could’ve been a bit more exciting by having a guide or audio guide tell you Vancouver facts.
Quite frankly you can avoid paying the somewhat steep fee for going up if you say you’re going to the restaurant. The greeting host at the bottom seemed totally uninterested in her job.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to go up in this tower though… it lacked a fun informative element that many city towers or high rises usually have.

Anytime you get a chance to view our mountains from this height, this is probably one of the most underrated things to do for a tourist, let alone a local. Everyone talks about Stanley Park and Granville Island, well, you can see both, and more, just from this attraction.
And truly, one of the few places, or businesses, that are open EVERY DAY.
Had a networking event earlier this year, and surprised at how much they remodelled this, my last time previous was probably about 5 years ago. I did drop off some out of town guests a few years back but I digress.
It’s a great venue for a wedding as long as it’s small and tight.
what’s just as fun is the ride up in the glass elevator, pretty fast.
and the price of admission includes unlimited in & out privileges, another bonus ;)

The elevator ride is a little jaunting, but the view is great. There weren’t many people at the lookout, which makes it easier to read the plaques and enjoy the view. I appreciate the employees taking pictures for us. The bathrooms were clean, which is a rare for tourist attractions.
I liked how there were booths with various brochures for Vancouver attractions.

What’s great is that you can revisit — for the same price — as many times as you want on the day of your ticket — midday, sunset, dark, etc. You can also stay as long as you want. The lift ride up is cool in and of itself. It’s an external glass lift. A the top, while it’s not competing for the highest observation deck in the world, it’s a great view for Vancouver and is as high as it needs to be. I really enjoyed the view, reading the signs all around the platform describing what is below, and listening to the guides leading tour groups. The place was clean, not too crowded, and the windows were clean and slanted outwards making for great pictures!

Aussichtsturm mitten in Vancouvers Downtown/​Gastown. Preislich absolut im Rahmen, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass man für den Preis zweimal hochfahren darf: EInmal tagsüber, und einmal abends (am selben Tag).
Wir hatten Bedenken, dass wir in der Schlange stehen müssen, da wir gegen mittags zum Turm wollten. Zu unserer Überraschung waren wir fast die einzigen, die den Fahrstuhl nutzten. Tipp: Wer in den Fahrstuhl einsteigt und sich rechts oder links neben der Tür postiert, kann bereits bei der Fahrt einen herrlichen Blick auf die Skyline ergattern — falls der Aufzug doch voller werden sollte.
Oben auf der Plattform kann man dann herumgehen und den Ausblick nach allen Seiten genießen. Mal ganz ehrlich: Dieser Ausblick vom Vancouver Lookout ist unseres Erachtens spektakulärer als von Seattles Space Needle oder vom Münchner Fernsehturm. Großartig! Viele Infotafeln erklären Geschichtliches oder erzählen nette Anekdoten.
Der Ausblick auf die abendliche Skyline sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen, zumal die zweite Auffahrt ja wie bereits beschrieben inklusive ist. Einfach phantastisch!

Vom Lookout Tower hat man einen tollen Blick über die ganze Stadt. Ist eine nette Abwechslung und man bekommt schon mal einen Eindruck von Vancouver. Die Ansicht ist natürlich nicht so spektakulär wie z.B. in New York, aber trotzdem empfehlenswert.
Das Ticket gilt den ganzen Tag. Man könnte also Abends nocheinmal wiederkommen und den Blick auf das beleuchtete Vancouver genießen, der viel schöner als die Tagesansicht ist :)
Der Eintrittspreis hält sich mit knapp 16 $ auch im Rahmen.
