I don’t club much, its not my scene. I didn’t find any of the issues others have had with here, everyone was nice(but it probably helped that my friend was buying bottle service) Bathrooms were fine, cover was 5 $. The Dj wasn’t great the night I came, literally played 4 rihanna songs in a row, but other than that everyone danced and had fun. There was some gorgeous dancers on the booths and bar overhangs, fun! I’d take this place over republic any day.

Worst staff and worst club I have been to in years. Do not go to any events at this horrible club. Ignorant staff. 100% shitty sound and vibe.

So, tonight we had tickets to see Filter at the Venue. We’ve been fans since the 90s. Love going to shows. We got there around 8pm, enjoyed the opening band, and moved a little closer to the front when Filter came on stage. We were at the right side, close to the bar. Along with a few hundred other people. It was a good atmosphere… Filter was amazing. We were happy. Then someone shoved us from behind. Hard. We bounced into the crowd. My boyfriend briefly looked behind him and said, «hey, no shoving!» Then we literally did not think about it again. It’s a show. One gets shoved. No hard feelings! A few minutes later, three bouncers surrounded my boyfriend and escorted him out. I didn’t notice right away, the crowd was large and close. I thought maybe a friend of his pulled him away for a few minutes. Then a bouncer approached me about 10 minutes later and asked if I knew the«tall bald guy» outside. He was kicked out and barred from the event, for — «pushing a disabled person». What? What??? We were shoved, hard, into the crowd. It was fine. Neither of us pushed anyone, let alone a disabled person. I would be mortified. Horrified. That would never happen. I followed the bouncer outside. Got our coats and left. I have no idea how this misunderstanding happened, but there was no way, no how, not even a possibility that either of us raised a hand to anyone else in that room. I feel violated that someone accused us of violence. The lesson? Maybe be super careful of your behaviour at the Venue. Oh, wait. We were. Never touched anyone, and yet were accused of shoving someone who we never even saw or was identified to us. Avoid this place like the plague.

I really like Venue! It’s a great space to watch bands, and I feel like I can always find somewhere to see them clearly without getting crushed to pieces. The bars on either side of the space are a nice touch, and the bartenders never grumble about giving me water(the old Richards on Richards refused despite me nearly passing out!) I’m sure the booze is pretty standard, overpriced club fare, but I typically haven’t drunk much when I’ve been there so I can’t comment. I like the multiple levels, and there are lots of great little nooks to see the band from. I’ve only been here for live shows, but they’ve all been excellent. The sound quality is great and the sightlines are even better. It’s cosy and intimate, and definitely one of my top choices to see bands in Van!

«Venue» as in the phrase, «I wish this show was at a different Venue». The only thing worse than run-down shape of the club, are the douche-canoes that frequent it. Wanna see a band and enjoy the experience? Try youtube — seriously its THAT bad.

been here lots for shows, not a bad venue to see a band but the shows end early so they can make it a club, I get the business plan but does make for a bummer show, you can see it in the band that its not the best place for them that way and makes the crowd wanting more staff is friendly and nice and its pretty easy to get a drink which is a bonus

I’ve been wanting to go here for a while but the 20 dollar or so cover always turned me off. They were handing out tickets to Venue on Granville for free cover so we thought why not? There was a show playing that night but they had just ended and we got in pretty quickly. Since there was just a show, there were already a bunch of people there which was nice. Sometimes you go to these places and you spend 45 minutes standing around watching two drunk people dancing by themselves. The place is spacious, perfect for a night club and for live shows. The DJ was awesome! A good mix of Top 40, hip hop and R&B was playing. I don’t mind EDM but it’s a bit intense sometimes. I had drinks earlier, so I didn’t bother buying any here so can’t comment on prices. I’d like to come back eventually assuming I can get in for as cheap as I did.

So we were walking down Granville St in downtown Vancouver going from club to club and found this place because there was a mini line outside. If there’s a line. it must be ok right? I mean it was decent but I’ll get to that. There’s tons of clubs/bars on Granville st, so I’d recommend walking down the street to find popping nightlife(they shut down the street when I was there so it was cool, not sure why they blocked cars off). There’s a mini line but it goes by fast. I think cover was 24?!? All I know is that my friend handed the lady $ 50CAD and she didn’t give back change so I think it’s 25 a person. The music is bumping(finally found EDM in Vancouver). Younger crowd(20s) than the other nightclubs I went to before. I was digging the music but then again I don’t know much about Canadian nightclub life. This place was not bad though. If you’re into EDM, this is probably you’re best bet. I couldn’t even tell you how much drinks were, the whole CAD to USD conversion confuses me. I used my credit card to pay for drinks… haven’t looked at my bank account yet. I think drinks were average club prices that you’d expect.

After figuring out where to go in Vancouver my buddies and i decided to swing by here and see how the night life is. So we got here kinda early, kinda very early after drinking a bit beforehand we swung in and it wasn’t crowded just yet. probably b/c it was 10:30 pm. At around 11:30 it was starting to get more crowded — people were filling in and getting drinks and we were starting to feel out the crowd. The crowd — was mixed for the most part, mostly asian though. Drinks weren’t exactly expensive, but weren’t very strong, apparently the bartenders have to measure every drop of alcohol in your glass… not exactly helping the crowd get drunk, but i guess everyone needs to make a profit somewhere. Currently — the etiquette is to grab a girl around her waist and start dancing with her — if she doesn’t push you away immediately — you’re pretty good for at least 5 minutes, then take her with you to the bar and grab a drink and repeat until she goes home with you or gets bored with your dancing.

Came here with my buddies during my bachelor party. We are out of towners so this was the third place we went to and they were very accommodating. We bought 3 bottles for a pretty reasonable price and overall had a great time. The venue itself is nice and I can’t say too much about the music since most of the night was a blur lol. I think they play mostly EDM. The crowd is predominantly asian as I recall so come here if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s right in the heart of Granville where all the nightlife takes place and they shut down the entire street to traffic. which is brilliant.

Great place to see a show. Good luck with parking. Take skytrain or the bus in, taxi out. Staff were all good, bartender had nice euh… Shirt but no personality. What else can I say?

Solid Vancouver night club. I walked by after dinner on Saturday and seriously, there were people in line at 9pm! The guest list is easy to sign up for online but my only gripe is that you must have more women than men or an equal number. They got back to me online quickly though and getting in the day of(Came back at 11 that Saturday) was a breeze. Ladies get in for free. Inside, they play pretty good music and had the group going. There’s a decent amount of seating as well and ample restrooms. The crowd was good without being overly crowded. Our gripes were: 1. They don’t take credit cards that don’t have a chip in it. 2. Some of the girls complained the floor was gross. All in all, we had a great time and I would come back again.

Last time I was here, it was called Plaza. Guess they had to find a 5 letter name so that they could reuse the nice big sign out front. Parking. What’s that? Downtown core? Not happening. Pool with a friend, especially if you’re going to get drunk. The place looks pretty much like I remembered several years ago. There’s a stage in the back, 3 bars(1 on each side, and 1 upstairs), and some seating. 4 booths on the main floor, and a bunch of bar seating up top. Drinks are half-priced before 2300, so if you want to save a few bucks, go a bit early. Initially the place was a bit empty(even at 2230), which had me worried. But by 2330, the whole place was going. Once people started hitting the dance floor, it was a mighty good time. I really liked how they were playing some of the older songs from 1990s and 2000s. No Bieber, thank goodness. The crowd here were mostly mid to late 20s the night I was here. Didn’t see too many student-types. Washrooms were a bit cleaner than what I remembered, but that honestly isn’t saying much. Try not to slip and fall in the puddles of you-know-what.

Awesome edm nightclub in Vancouver BC. Walking in was fast with guest list and I was so happy to see a dancer hooping with an LED neon hoop! Sweet skills! Great vibes all around. Shots were about $ 7 each and came in glass shot glasses. I was impressed by the beautiful and colorful venue inside and the amazing DJ artists. Good vibes all around for a great night out. Dancing on the stage was tons of fun!

Aside from the bad sound at some shows, I’ve had it enough with Venue and their customer service. I deal with a lot of crap from a few specific people. I am not an annoying drunk and or pushy, I come in and show my ticket, stake out a spot, finish the show and go home. I don’t know who some of these staff think they are. Perhaps they were bullied in high school and this is their way of feeling good about themselves by picking on others. I’m not the kind of person who bullied you in school, therefore, you don’t have to take it out on me. I go to over 10 shows a year at Venue by force since LN or Blue Print have up and coming bands here. There is a handful of staff that need to get over themselves and I’ve been taking their crap way too long for no reason. Enough is enough. I have been silent for 3 years and I just lost it. I’m not the person you need to keep in check. In fact I am the most well behaved that you should be commending me for by leading by example. I memorized the names of most of the staff since I’ve been there a lot. Here is the list of shows I’ve been to in 2013 alone.
I’ve spoken to the manager twice about two issues. I spoke to the manager 2 months ago about the ladies washroom. Two of the stalls are always un-operational and clogged with shit, toilet paper and piss. I spoke to the manager not to complain but to give a heads up just in case this was a recent occurrence that happened. I wanted him to be aware so that the following day he had the opportunity to call a plumber to come in. I did him a favor by informing him of the happenings in his club. Since I’ve spoken to him, the same toilet has been clogged with no desire to have it fixed. It’s not hard to find a plumber, I’ve reviewed a few here on Unilocal. I didn’t bring up the toilet incident ’cause frankly if he doesn’t want to fix it that is his problem. I am paying to see the band, not to be in the club. An incident happened today during St Lucia that was uncalled for. I was waiting with my ticket stub and ID in hand for a few minutes without anybody unlocking the velvet rope. Eye contact was made between the bouncer and I, however, he ignored me. I was smiling, pleasant and patient. I saw a guy unhook the velvet rope, he wasn’t harassed or anything and just went inside. I assumed that there was a different procedure for the show and just unhooked the rope myself since the person before me did and the fact that the bouncer didn’t bother to do it for me as I patiently waited to get in. I was scolded like a 10 year old child and when I explained the situation he rolled his eyes and didn’t even apologize. When I went inside I asked to speak to the manager in which another employee said, «You always have something to complain about.» No I don’t always have something to complain about. I’ve only talked to the manager 2 times in the past 3 years and 30 shows that I’ve attended. One was a common courtesy conversation and the one was this concern about customer service. I later confronted the other employee and told him that the comment he made was uncalled for and educated him on the stats of my visits vs. times of spoken to the manager. Before I spoke to the manager the second rude employee went into his office to «prep» him for our conversation more likely to give false information of my supposed«always need to complain.» Now I am dealing with two Venue staff members who need some discipline. I talked to the Manager who was nice enough to allow me to speak my mind. What he chooses to do with my story and information is up to him, however, I was promised that the guy who not be fired. I don’t believe that firing is the answer and although the bouncer was an asshole, his job shouldn’t be on the line. I suggested to the manager that a staff meeting should be held for everyone on customer service. I also suggest counselling for the rest of the staff who have post high school bullying traumatizations who feel the need to bring it out on others.

AVOID If you don’t want your belongings stolen from you, avoid this club. I met 3 girls in this club that got their phones stolen from their purses on the same night. Shady? yes. If you’re a girl that wants to club without worrying about your belongings every few seconds, or doesnt want to carry a purse has locks on it then AVOID Bouncers are rude, and DJ is mediocre at best.

it’s a nightclub. small, crowded, half the space occupied by VIP lounge. Few seats, expensive cover($ 15.) but nice girls and cool music. Can’t order a drink to save your life– bar girls can’t hear and give you something they THINK you ordered. pro tip: if you work locally in f&b, say so. it might just get you in to many of vancouver’s clubs with out cover.

My first time in Vancouver so needless to say it’s my first time to Venue; I had no expectations, no idea what the crowd and music were like, and simply ready to have a good time with some Canadians, eh! We got bottle service right next to the dance floor which turned out to be a terrible location… at some point during the night a fight broke out and some guys knocked over our table and the table next to us. I remembered returning to the table and there was glass everywhere! The worst part was how the staff handled the situation. First, security was pretty much nonexistent. Secondly, nobody came over to clean up the mess for over half an hour, and you’d think safety would be a top concern. well my friend ended up cutting her palm on one of the pieces of glass. Lastly, when my buddy tried getting reimbursement for the drinks, the waitress tried to charge us for another bottle! and that’s no chump change. Luckily he worked it out with the manager and got us refilled and good to go. Okay onto the other details… i loved the music here! Awesome EDM! And the dance floor was the biggest out of the clubs we’ve been to on the strip. Though like most clubs, it was packed and bumping into other ppl was almost unavoidable unless you go up on the stage, which was where i spent most of my night lol, it’s open access and get you right up to the DJ and away from most of the crowd. The crowd here was decent at first; good mix of people– asians, white etc etc. then at some point all the drunk dudes filtered in from the other bars and clubs and it was, for a lack of a better term, a sausage fest. Apparently the legal age is 19 so you get a big variety in ages. bottle service was interesting… i guess it’s illegal to give out entire bottles so the alcohol was poured and divided into numerous shot glasses, cups and whatever else was available. That also means you have to guard your table, along with the drinks, like a hawk! It’s expensive stuff so you don’t want some random guy to come in and drink your shots haha. Oh and it would definitely help if the waitresses were more attentive! we saw her maybe once or twice the entire night. Thanks for earning your tip(yes, there was sarcasm in my time of voice). Overall a decent club. Good music, decent crowd for the most part, and terrible service.

Probably the loudest nightclub on Granville right now. Great sound system, and the EDM DJs they get are solid. You’ll enjoy it if you’re here to dance but not to socialize. It’s loud enough to where my friend can scream something into my ear, and I’ll have trouble hearing what he’s trying to say. The bouncers have always been nice. But before, if you knew a promoter or security, you could go up front to the staff person you knew, skip the regular line and the guestlist line, and just walk right into the club. Now they have a policy where you can skip regular line but you have to wait in the guestlist line. We asked the bouncer we knew why this was and he said Management there they didn’t want the front crowded with guys. Not a big deal, but if you’re hoping to club hop on Granville without having to wait out lines, it’s tough to make it happen now. Prices are about the same as the other places on Granville. I’d say the crowd is one of the best on the street(it’s become more and more Asian though as the years have gone by). It’s Electronic Dance Music all night. At Caprice you get Top 40 in the regular part of the club, and EDM in LED bar. Republic has a more solid mix of music too since they have a separate room for rap. But most people come here for the EDM anyways, so it probably doesn’t matter if that’s why you’re planning to go to VENUE. Prices are comparable to Caprice and Republic.
