Whoopie Dee Doo

Unless you go around the corner of the Umbrella Shop on Granville Island, you won’t find this cute, quaint, but more importantly, extremely delicious gelateria. I kept hearing about this place as «the yummy gelato place on Granville Island» and I knew it couldn’t be one of the ones in the Public Market because those aren’t quite of the «knock-​your-​socks-​off» variety.
Let me tell you, this place has some of THE BEST gelato I’ve ever had. It even beats Mondo Gelato! I had the oreo gelato and it was so creamy, but not quite ice cream. It was how gelato was meant to be. And the flavour was so delicious and intense. I could taste the vanilla and the oreos and they went perfectly in a waffle cone. It reminds me of the time when I walked around 3 km in the Tuscan countryside to find the only gelateria they had within the 5 km radius – because that was homemade gelato from a garage of a house and it was creamy and delicious just like Whoopie Dee Doo!
They will also sandwich any flavour gelato for your between 2 cookies of your choice. They had about 10 flavours there including: vanilla, maple walnut, double chocolate brownie or something, toblerone?, 2 sorbettos… that’s about all I can remember now.
The girl at the counter was really nice and sweet. I will definitely go back the next time I’m at Granville Island.
