Freshco

Bought clams here yesterday afternoon. Got them home, opened the bag and they smelled really bad. Not just fish-smell, but rotten smell. The person who packaged them said they were packed in salt water and they were fresh. We cook clams often, and these were disgusting and not edible so we had to change the family's dinner plans. Took them back to the store today and was told that we should have smelled them before buying, and that the seafood seller rents the space from Freshco and is not an employee. Will never buy from there again.

ok shoppers be advised: even those with low expectations will be disappointed at this Store, because of employees/​staff.
I only go there when it’s a last resort, close to home. Each time it is worse.
so I’m just giving newbies a warning, but go See for yourself if you doubt.
Never get assistance from workers on the floor, they are always in groups of two or three and talking about social lives. Too busy Working Slow as possible.
But tonight was ultimate: in produce guy was unpacking produce from trolley with one hand while holding TimHorton cup in the other hand. Blocking aisle, oblivious to polite people trying to go around. Startled him when I said «move» he just froze! «are You working or on a break? pick one»
No manager to speak to anywhere. Same nonsense throughout the entire store.
I only got two items, so checkout was fast and accurate. thanks cashier! ! she was polite and smiling.
Lastly, incredible how management allows workers to run the Store into the toilet.

FreshCo is certainly not fresh !
I visited today to pick up some items to do some Christmas baking and while walking to the cashier, spied a can of Habitat pea soup and thought… mmmmmm.lunch.
When I got home and unpacked my groceries, the can of soup had an expiry date of Oct 26, 2014… and yet today’s date is December 12, 2014.
I normally don’t check expiry dates on my canned goods when buying them, but I would suggest that if you do shop here, check all your expiry dates before leaving.

Ten Reasons to shop at this store
1. You do not need any assistance looking for a grocery item. There is no floor staff to assist you
2. You enjoy looking at cashiers with miserable faces
3. You get double scanned and that adds another ten minutes to your check out. You get a credit for their mistake but its not free and you think that’s fine. It happens every time you shop there and that is normal
4. They charge more than the item is listed for and it takes 15 minutes to sort out so you can get it for free and they usually don’t want to give it to you for free even though their scanning code of practice says its free but then its a back and forth and there is no manager to make a decision anyways
5. You enjoy produce and vegetables that’s beyond its fresh point. hmmm these raspberries are bad, hmmmm these avocados are too soft, the corn is dried out, the lettuce is brown, the garlic is from China and they do not support the local farmer that is going bankrupt
6. You have a customer service issue but there is no one to take ownership and they look at you as if you are weird
7. You call to complain but no answers after 25 rings, you call again, you call again, they answer and hang up, you call again and the person says that Enzo went home and they hang up
8. Staff has no customer service training so you are bothering them with a complaint
9. You but some canned goods on sale and you realize the date code indicates its expired but thats ok right?
10. You buy ground beef and it smells kind of funny and looks greyish and you think… hmmmmm…is this right?
This Fresh Co is for you
if you spend $ 200 a week times 50 weeks thats $ 10k and then ten of your friends join the cause now thats $ 100k that can become $ 1000k then $ 10M no impact whatsoever!
Longos, WalMart, Fortinos and No Frills and even Highland farms compete with you… think about that when you are at home and no one answers the telephone and no one in your store cares about the consumer and you do not either then they shop elsewhere
its a rant but its a gift… the monkey is on your back and do with it as you please

I never want to go in here, it creeps me out (so to say) because it’s not one of the big chains I’m used to (No Frills, Loblaws, etc). Every time I overpower myself I end up with a shopping cart full of goodies! The prices were go good here — so many sales! Check out the flyer at

FreshCo. Don’t know why the listing changed to «Fresh» after I added it some time ago.
Anyway. Extremely similar to No Frills, minus the stack of boxes at the check out. As with any grocery store you really need to know the prices of things before hand. Things are not necessarily cheaper here. But they usually have some decent sales and it’s worth a look, but as with No Frills, the selection isn’t as wide as the bigger stores. The place also isn’t as big as some others and feels a bit more cramped than those others.
Produce is usually pretty good, never had any issues with anything I’ve purchased here.
