Abbeymoore Manor Bed & Breakfast

Spectacular and wonderful! Renewed our faith in B&Bs. The Abbeymoore Manor is hands-​down, the nicest and most special B&B we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. The Lilac Room was very comfortable and romantic, and Anne is a fantastic host. We can’t say enough about the delicious gourmet breakfast that was served to us on the veranda in the morning.
The Rockland neighborhood is a little bit far from the «action» of downtown, but you’ll enjoy the quiet of the neighborhood. Close by are the wonderful gardens at Government House as well as Craigdarroch Castle, which is also worth a look.
Do yourself a favor and stay at the Abbeymoore. You’ll love every minute.

My fiancé and I love the Abbeymoore, staying at the Abbeymoore manor is our favorite yearly getaway. This past May was our third visit to the Abbeymoore. We’ve stayed in the Master bedroom and Garden suite in the past. This trip we had the chance to stay in the Treetop suite. I didn’t think Abbeymoore could take my breath away a third time, but they proved me wrong. The Treetop suite is extremely spacious with beautiful views.
The breakfast was flavorsome and beautifully presented. Even with it being our third visit, we did not have any repeat meals. The chefs at Abbeymoore are brilliantly creative in the kitchen.
Without a doubt, we will be returning to the Abbeymoore for a fourth stay.

We stayed here during Valentine’s Day earlier this year. Simply incredible. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we enjoyed our stay. Anne was especially phenomenal (and so patient as I went back and forth with my plans!), providing us with the most memorable Valentine’s Day ever! They also took into account our dietary preferences (dairy– and gluten-​free), with the result being wonderfully delicious. The room was excellent and very comfy. Beyond amazing experience, I just can’t say enough good things about it!

We recently had the privilege to stay at The Abbey Moore. Everything from booking, to check-​in/​out was seamless and comprehensive. We stayed in the lilac room and it was beautiful. The bed is amazingly luxurious and the room is equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay. We felt like we had the perfect amount of privacy while having the interactions of a bnb. The bathroom is updated but with original charm, as is the whole manor. There are snacks, tea, coffee, soda and water that is «help yourself». It was nice to come home after a long day and have a cup of tea and wind down.
Breakfast is also excellent. The food was great and Anne was very attentive without being overbearing. She even printed out unique stops for our drive up the island, and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
Without a doubt, I would stay at Abby Moore again and recommend it to all visiting Victoria.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and couldn’t be happier. The room was great with a small but modern bathroom (shower and loo, basin in bed room), the bed was comfortable, the staff were incredibly helpful, the breakfasts were to die for, we were able to walk into downtown Victoria in 20 minutes (we are pretty fast walkers though so if you aren’t fit it might take you half an hour) and everything was just what we were looking for. Highly recommend.

I just glimpsed at the reviews for this fantastic place, and I’m not sure I can compete. :) This place is phenomenal! The neighborhood is out of a fairy tale. The building is the stuff of fantasy, and the room, amenities, and food are top notch. However, I think the biggest boons to this lovely place are Anne, Ian, and the lovely staff. I was traveling with my teenage daughter, and they made us both feel welcome and at home. We felt cared for in a way that you will never feel at a hotel. Yay Abbeymoore!

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Abbeymoore Manor. The hosts welcomed us with open arms and treated us like family. The inn itself is homey and comfortable, even though it is a grand old heritage house. The breakfasts are to die for! We were there for 12 days and never had the same breakfast twice. And unlike other B&B’s who close up shop after breakfast, we got to savor fresh homemade cookies every day plus coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sodas, fruit and snacks whenever we wanted! In the evening you can have a nice glass of port, and enjoy a cozy fire if you so desire. The staff is exceptional. You can tell they all love their jobs! We had a «plumbing catastrophe» on our last day, and Michelle managed to catch the water cascading through the ceiling from the second floor and still get breakfast on the table by 8:30 am! My wife and I found this B&B on
and instantly fell in love. We were shocked at the low rates and amazing décor we found on their website. We thought something might be wrong, so we instantly booked a 3 night stay. We didn’t read any of the reviews, because we wanted this to be an unbiased first experience of a B&B. Normally I would read tons of reviews before making a decision, but we felt that time wasn’t on our side for reservations.
We arrived at Abbeymoore Manor and were greeted by Ian with a big smile as if the last of the family showed up for dinner. Check in started with a tour of the house, common rooms, and dining room and ended with entrance into the Primrose Room. My wife and I looked at each other, smiled, dropped our bags and flopped on the bed. We were exhausted from the trip and ready to kick off our shoes, go downstairs, pour some tea and sit by the fire.
Ian was our host the entire time and clued us in on some of the town’s best restaurants, brewpubs, and attractions. One of the highlights of our trip is that Abbeymoore is located across the street from the Lieutenant Governors mansion. The grounds are open to the public and display some of the most beautiful native plant life maintained by an all-​volunteer staff. We lucked out and had the opportunity to tour the mansion on day 3.
Abbeymoore has an amazing chef (Chris) that takes breakfast to a whole new level. You start off with coffee or an assortment of teas, then you’re offered a choice of freshly made juices to accompany your first course. I particularly enjoyed the Cardamom Citrus Greens Salad and Cranberry Scone. Before the main course comes you might find yourself in full conversation with some of the other guests. The main course arrives and you can’t decide whether to grab your fork or your camera for a quick snapshot of your soon-​to-​be devoured breakfast. As we headed out for our first day on the town, I couldn’t help but wonder what was going to be on the menu for the next day’s breakfast.
Our room was super-​comfortable and had everything we needed. I loved the Lindor Truffles that were on the bed when we arrived. The bed was very comfortable and there was a little lounge chair and ottoman that never got used, because of the comfortable couches, chairs and warm fireplace downstairs. The lush and tree-​lined neighborhood around the Abbeymoore was beautiful and at times reminded me of something you’d read about in a fairy tale.
I could go on and on about this amazing B&B, but I want to get the great points out there. For our first stay at a B&B, we hit the JACKPOT!!! You will not even be slightly disappointed with The Abbeymoore Manor. I usually like to stay at various hotels and such to see what’s best, but when you find a gem (Abbeymoore), you hold on to it. Lisa and I cannot wait for our next trip to Victoria and our next stay at the Abbeymoore.

I worked in the airline industry for 31 years. I have stayed in hotels/motels/B&B’s of every rating, in many country’s. I do have to say that Abbeymoore is at the pinnacle of my list for ambiance, cleanliness, location, breakfast, and the courteous and helpful staff. The early 1900’s home has been updated for comfort while they left the old world charm. It is a easy walk to downtown where there are many nice restaurants and pubs. Stroll through the surrounding neighborhood and enjoy architecture of other homes (and castle) from the same era. Yes, we will return.

I can’t even recommend this place higher!!! I wish I could give it 6 Stars!
We stayed at Abbeymoore on our Honeymoon for a few nights… and it was just heaven. So relaxing. and everything you could hope for in a B & B. The owner Ian is SO personable… SO helpful… and just awesome. The breakfasts in the morning are amazing too!!! OMG! I am remembering them now… (it’s been awhile– May 2011 haha)… but, I am just getting started on Unilocal and knew I HAD to review them!!!
Do not look elsewhere… you will not regret it!!! We dream of going back,… drinking from Ian’s coffee mugs, eating delicious handmade breakfasts and sleeping on the best sheets on the planet!!!

I can not even begin to describe my fiances and I’s experience! From the moment we arrived we were taken in by Ian and Ann’s hospitality. Ian gave us a tour of the beautiful Bed and Breakfast. The soft peaceful music playing in the background was a nice touch to put you at ease and feel at home. We arrived late afternoon and after a full day of travel my fiancé wanted nothing more then to relax and catch up on his hockey game that he was kind enough to forgo at the pub since he knew I wanted to check into the B&B at a reasonable time. Low and behold Ian said he could watch the game on the main level of the B&B. The grander of this room still had a cozy feel due to the big windows that over looked the porch and into the front garden. There was the nice crackle of the fire that begged for you to sit next to it in the plush chairs. I helped myself to the port and chocolate that Ian and Ann have presented in the sitting room. Now feeling at ease after a day of travel (and the fact my fiancé got to watch his hockey game) I took a walk to explore the surrounding area. There is the home were the Queen occupies at her leisure a block and a half down the street. A legendary castle about four blocks away, and a local store about a mile away you can walk to, to get a bottle of wine for your room if you so please.
The next morning we woke up to a lovely breakfast that is made by Michelle, Ian and Ann’s daughter. The menu changes daily and you are presented with it upon sitting down at what ever breakfast table you choose. We had a selection of fresh juices to go along with tea or coffee. A first course consisting of freshly picked berries with yogurt and a piece of banana bread. A second course with a delicious Mediterranean omelet along side fennel citrus salad. I liked the salad so much I took it from my fiances plate! Mitchell noticed this and I think she assumed he didn’t like the salad and offered to make him some potatoes instead. Now that is what I call going above and beyond being a gracious host! We spoke with Michell about our planes for the day and that included going to the Butchart Gardens for high tea. She recommended we make reservations since they do such high volume and asked if she could take it upon herself to make the arrangements? Again, going above and beyond! After our jottings for the day we made our way back to the B&B. It was late evening and the fire was rolling again. We met a lovely couple from Tofino and chatted with them for a bit and I helped myself to more Port :) Before turning in for the night my fiancé and I played a game of Backgammon that was among many selections to choose from provided by our hosts. We woke up the next morning not wanting to leave this little gem. We stayed in the Rose room which had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! My fiancé especially like the shower which had to shower heads. One that came from the ceiling as if it were raining and the other which was adjustable. Which was nice if your short like me and great if your tall like him. We headed down for breakfast to find Ann and Michell catering to all the guest. On our menu that morning we read a nice farewell to my fiancé and I and a warm welcome to the new housemates. Even a welcome back from previous guests!!! We loved all the little touches and warmth that this house and hosts have to offer! We graciously said our goodbyes and the question of if we would return arose. Without a doubt I said and since it was our anniversary we were celebrating I could see it becoming an annual event. Once I said the word anniversary to Ann and Michelle they were perplexed as to why we hadn’t mentioned it before? I just thought it was something to keep to ourselves and no big deal. Well wouldn’t you know it, Ann packed up a tea/​coffee mug I was to purchase and placed some scones with jam and clotted cream for our tea later that day and made it so it would not be compromised with our travels ahead. When I went to pay for the mug my fiancé and I picked out previously she said not to worry! They wanted to acknowledge our anniversary and wish they had known! I was left feeling so welcomed and catered to! My fiancé were so pleased to find this hidden gem and can’t wait to go back and make more memories!

As this is my first experience staying at a bed and breakfast I am so happy that this is the place I would experience this. Upon arrival we were greeted by Anne who is the owner. She gave us a mini tour of this beautiful 101 year old heritage home. The décor and the overall look and feel of this place bring you to a whole other world (in a great way). My husband booked this place for us to celebrate our first Valentines as a married couple. He booked the Master bedroom for us. It was absolutely perfect. The king size bed is the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. It was like I was sleeping on a cloud. The home is pleasantly quiet. This made our stay more relaxing than we expected. That’s just the bed part.
Breakfast…
We had informed Anne the time we would like to have breakfast in the morning and she happily acknowledges this. After having the best sleep of my life we woke up and headed downstairs to the dining area. We were then greeted by Ian (husband to Anne) and also the owner. He informed us of what was in store for breakfast. The selection of teas, coffee, juice etc was wonderful. Both Anne and Ian put a great amount of effort to make you feel special. They had printed off a personalized menu with our names on it and he explained what our 3 course breakfast entailed. Breakfast was made with great care and consideration. The food was made in house and was delicious. Ian would periodically check on how we were doing and how the food was tasting and engage in conversation. The whole meal was amazing and the whole experience here so far at the Abbeymore feels like home.
I would definitely tell anyone visiting the Victoria area to stay here.

The woman of my dreams and I stayed here 3 nights to attend a wedding and I, selfishly, felt like we were on our honeymoon.
We were welcomed with open arms, given our keys, and told to make ourselves at home. HOME IT WAS, AND A BEAUTIFUL HOME AT THAT. Clean, neat, green, and overflowing with comfort — a hard standard for the justifiably picky, but matched!

The Abbeymoore is # 1 for a reason. Ian and Anne were obviously born to do this. Ian is the happiest guy on the planet (or could win an Oscar in the role of Happy Innkeeper) and his happiness is infectious. When I say «whistle while you work,» this is Ian, except he hums (not too long) and it’s a delight to be around.
Rooms are incredibly clean, and cozy, and comfortable.
Breakfasts are very good, and they do whatever they can to accommodate your dietary needs. In my case, Cave Man, and in my wife’s case, Pescetarian + organic cage-​free poultry person. Although they may not be able to source EXACTLY what you need, just know they will do their very best.
Also, Ian operates like a concierge. This was a HUGE benefit. So when we told him of our ideas he was able to discuss with us places that are a must-​see, etc. Two of our favorite destinations were recommended by him: the Mystic Beach walk and the Birds of Prey center.
We stayed 7 days and I miss this place already.

This place is amazing! We stayed here on our honeymoon, and were very happy with the entire experience. The service was great, food was awesome, and the room was very comfortable. Ian is a great host, and we highly recommend you stay with him.

Absolutely amazing attention to detail. First class service. Everything you can possibly think of is done right. From privacy to breakfast to free amenities to snacks to common areas to knowledgeable staff to board game availability to obsessive-​compulsive (in a good way) housekeeping staff to… you get the idea. All done right. You can tell they take feedback serisously!
Put simply, I am going to be comparing to Abbeymoore if I hotel or B&B elsewhere. Sucks for the other places, good for Abbeymoore!
A great place to honeymoon if the greater Victoria area is your cup of tea for a honeymoon. If you’re the chill type of vacationer, then yes it will.

There is no better place to stay in Victoria than Abbeymoore.
The rooms are the perfect blend of luxury, vintage and comfort and the food is worth the visit all on its own. If you’re a hotel person, then get with it and try out a stay in a B&B Inn like this… there’s so many included amenities that it makes it difficult to stomach another charge-​for-​absolutely-​everything hotel stay again.
The breakfast room always had cookies, fruit, pop, water, coffee and tea available, there’s free Wifi, books, DVDs, games, newspapers and two hosts that will help you out with anything. They sorted out our dinner reservations, got us some insider info on some bookings to boot.
I love this place… it’s better than home.

I was sold the second we walked in and were greeted with the aroma of freshly baked cupcakes.
My boyfriend and I spent one night here during a whirlwind trip to the Northwest – I only wish we were able to stay longer, both in Victoria in general and at this B&B in particular. Ian, Anne and Michelle were so welcoming and helpful, giving us a map as soon as we arrived and directions to the restaurant we’d picked out for dinner (it’s a pleasant 20-​minute stroll through a residential area into town – and was made even more pleasant with the inclusion of the afore-​mentioned cupcakes, which we happily grabbed on our way out the door).
The breakfast the next morning was amazing: a cranberry scone, yogurt with all sorts of fruit (dragon fruit! I’d never even heard of dragon fruit before!) and homemade granola, ham and cheese omelette roll-​ups with a spicy kick, roasted sweet potatoes, and a delicious, delicious fig and asparagus salad with balsamic vinagrette and feta cheese (I’m now officially on a fig kick for awhile). The whole time, Ian walked around to check on everyone.
We stayed in the Iris Room, which is bright and cheery and has a great deck (and yes, the tub is in the room, which only adds to its quirky charm). We had to check out at 11 a.m. but our ferry to Vancouver wasn’t until 7 p.m., so we asked Ian if we could leave our bags there while we explored the city. Not only did he say yes, but he even offered to drop them off at the bus terminal for us! That generous offer allowed us more time to explore gorgeous Victoria.
If you’re debating where to stay in Victoria, your search is done. If you need restaurant recommendations, I have some of those as well…

A good bed and breakfast should obviously have a good bed and a good breakfast. This did both extremely well without being cliché. We booked the Garden Suite which has a living room, kitchen (with cooking stuff!), dining room, private bathroom, and bedroom. It’s located under the main floor, so you get your own entrance. This does mean you have to go outside to get to the breakfast area, but no biggie. Lots of privacy. The other rooms are all upstairs and seem nice as well. There is more than one Garden Suite, but only one of each of the other rooms. The bed is cozy with lots of pillows, covers, high quality sheets, and a nice size – it seems a little longer than a regular queen. Oh, and it’s so much cleaner than a hotel. It smells fresh! Btw – you get free wireless. A little slow, but still usable.
Breakfast was delicious, and you can eat with people, at a small table, or on the porch. We chose to sit with people and it was nice to compare notes. Ian (co-​owner) came around and made sure everyone was getting along nicely.
The house is cozy as well with a fireplace. You get a key to your room and the front door of the place. When we checked in, they let us check in early and our room was available (we notified them ahead of time). We got to find out about attractions, suggestions for food, etc. Even details like when to get to the Butchart Gardens – they also provided us with a blanket and umbrella for it!
For the room, breakfast, free parking, and quiet neighborhood near some attractions (Craigdarroch Castle and Lieutenant Governor’s mansion). .. great deal! You can stay at a cheaper hotel, but there are other charges there you don’t have here, and the experience is so nice here. It’s like staying with family without any awkward family moments. If/​when we return to Victoria, we will stay here.
Oh, and don’t forget to check the dining area throughout the day for snacks they make – cookies, bars, etc. – yum!
