History
Established in 1988.
First Choice Books is part of a 55-year-old independently-owned and operated company in Victoria, BC. Founded by Rudolf Adamek in 1958 who trained as a bookbinder in Poland before WWII, and started the business while with the military.
Formally incorporated in 1988, in 1993 then-owners Shy and Angel Riyasat added the publishing arm of the business, First Choice Books. Current owners Patrick O’Connor and Melanie Perkins purchased the combined companies in 2011.
We are the proud printer of a Poet Laureate, winners of an Alcuin award and sponsors of a BC Book prize and writer’s festivals.
