Inn at Laurel Point

Wonderful place to stay– king sized bed with floor to ceiling windows (best way to look out into the Inner Harbour). Staff is courteous and professional, and food is amazing. Can’t wait to come back. My only complaint is that the swimming pool area needs a renovation (soon).

I arrived a little earlier than expected and the front desk staff was very kind to inform us that our room was not yet ready, so she offered us a different room. When I arrived to the room she offered us (lower level), I was not happy with the view. So, I went back to the front desk and ask to keep our original room. They were kind enough to help me make that change without hesitation. They even allowed me to view the room next door to ensure that I would be satisfied with the view before making the change. I have to say that overall, it’s been a good experience. There was just only one miscommunication — I was not informed that I would be called to be notified that my room would be ready. My family and I went shopping and returned to the hotel expecting the room to be ready (anytime after 12:30 PM) because that was what I was told by another staff member. When we arrived to the hotel at 1:30 PM, the room was still not ready. We waited outside and took a stroll along the water. It was about 2:45 PM when we got the call that our room was ready. I truly cannot be upset since their original check-​in time was 3:00 PM (I believe). Overall, nice hotel, great staff, very accommodating, beautiful view.
I will definitely return!

Stayed one night at this lovely harbour-​front hotel. Decent room, with a king sized bed and an amazing view of Victoria’s harbour were all definitely worth the price point.
The staff was excellent, professional and quick to check us in and out, room service was spot on, and our valets were very quick with the car.
I’m really looking forward to staying here again on my next trip to Victoria!

awesome experience! brought my other half here for our 3 year anniversary and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to be for the weekend.

I think we found our go-​to accommodation in Victoria.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean with a view of the Parliament. The parking structure was near and so easy to get in and out of the garage. Location wise, you could actually walk to the Parliament building or to the Empress to have tea time and not break a sweat.
There are a few amenities missing that should have been available especially for the price we paid for, but compared to other accommodations in Victoria, we felt we got most of our money’s worth by staying here.

We decided to book this hotel through Clipper Vacations as an add on to our Clipper trip to Victoria. The photos made the room look great and the description of our room had the impression that we could sit out on our balcony and watch the boats sail in and out of the harbor.
Unfortunately the real room did not live up to expectations. The «balcony» could barely fit one chair and the «view» of the harbor was that of a glimpse through the trees of a sparkle of water. The view was mainly of a dirty pool like pond, with algae growing in spots, the meeting area and grass.
The room itself was clean at least, but the bed had four tiny pillows where two normal ones would have been preferred. The in room coffee was lacking in description with the exception that it did not taste like coffee. The worst thing about our room though was that the walls seemed to be made of cardboard. While in the bathroom, I could hear someone else using the toilet in an adjacent room, and in the mornings we were awoken several times by clashing plates and silverware from room service being picked up and people walking and talking and closing their doors in the hallways. The small nuisance that my wife and I noticed in the mornings was that instead of the curtain going to the windows edge it wrapped around the corner which gave a perfect opening for the light to reflect off the white side of the curtains and straight into our eyes. Curtains closed or open you will get sun in your eyes in the morning.
There was one redeeming factor with this hotel and that is the staff. They were helpful with questions and storing our bags before and after our stay. They were always friendly and accommodating with every interaction. Bravo on the management for gathering this terrific batch of hospitality experts. I used to be manager in the hospitality industry and I tip my proverbial hat to them.

While visiting Victoria for the first time, my husband found this hotel through Trip Advisor. We found it right away and they allowed us to check in a bit early. We stayed in the Erickson wing which is the newer wing and we are sure glad we did. Everything was just gorgeous and the view from our patio was amazing. The room was clean, beautifully decorated, and included a large patio with two chairs. We were able to watch the sunset which was the highlight of our stay there. We would definitely go back and stay here, plus the price wasn’t bad at all! If you check in on Unilocal,they so send up chocolate to your room, but it was a little disappointing. Otherwise we were very pleased!

Rough around the edges, expensive, and inferior customer service.
Dead mouse in courtyard was pretty gross. Asked front desk to have it removed so my pet would not be affected, and finally the next day a custodian was cleaning up the courtyard, but he was too busy talking on his bluetooth to listen to me. And the dead mouse remained.
Pet owners also beware of the wild raccoon that frequents the courtyard area as raccoons have been known to attack pets and they also carry disease.
Pool is tiny, by the way. Photo on website made it look much bigger.
Speaking of photos on the website, they can be misleading about your room. The room type we got showed a microwave, but there was no microwave in our room.
Bathroom was nice but excessively large. For what I paid per night, you think there would be a rainshower shower head instead of a standard one.
Reservation staff need to inform people BEFORE arrival of reservation policies. Endured a very embarrassing situation that was completely preventable.
I expect much more for $ 300 US a night.
On my next trip to Victoria, will be staying at a different hotel.

We got married here in 2014, so I should have reviewed the Inn at Laurel Point much sooner. I can’t say enough accolades about the fabulous service we received.
Before I even committed to book the Inn for our wedding, I met with Louise Higgins (event co-​ordinator) to tour the facility and one of their hotel rooms. I was looking for something very specific in a wedding venue, and as soon as I toured the Inn I knew it was the perfect location.
I started planning a year in advance of our wedding date; originally, we had picked March 22, 2014 for our wedding but that date was already booked so we decided on March 29^th. From that moment of signing on the dotted line, the planning and communication with the Inn couldn’t have been better. There are no bridal websites or message boards that could possibly answer all the questions, and Louise was more than patient in answering my questions and suggesting possibilities to me.
Throughout the planning, we met at the venue to discuss the logistics of the day as well as the menu tasting. Their own Chef Ito presented a sampling of one of their banquet menus and my then husband-​to-​be and I were blown away. Their banquet menus are anything BUT typical and truly dazzled our tastebuds. We even made some additions, including a custom order of baked macaroni and cheese, to which all guests raved about.
Each of the wedding banquet menus include pastries and desserts (not a wedding cake), and since we were so impressed with their sweets selection we opted to forgo a wedding cake. BUT — I did surprise my husband with a custom designed Seattle Seahawks mini wedding cake to which their pastry chef did an outstanding job. It made for a really special memory, and one of my favourite wedding photos of me presenting the cake to my new husband.
The venue itself is stunningly gorgeous — even though we opted for an indoor ceremony in their terrace ballroom, the glass walls and ceiling provided beautiful lighting as well as a stunning back drop of the outer harbor for our ceremony.
We cannot thank the Inn enough for helping us plan our wedding day with us, and for being the perfect setting to start creating memories as a newly married couple!

Great room
My wife and I tend to choose boutique, smaller hotels but our travel agent strongly recommended this one. One reason being that we insisted on having A/​C, which many hotels here do not have.
Upon arrival, were not wowed, since this really is a convention hotel. There were rooms and tables set up everywhere to handle large group meals.
However, 36 hours later have not yet seen the first name tag!
Room is phenomenal. One of largest we have ever had, and we have been to a lot of fine places. Nicely decorated, including a lot of pottery and glass, as well as art that doesn’t look like its identical in every room. A very unusual touch is the native artwork in glass cabinet between the front doors to our room and next door. Big bedside tables. Blackout drapes and shades.
Largest hotelroom patio we’ve seen in a while also. Room for both lounge and chair, plus room to move around. And killer sunset views.

Beautiful and enormous bathroom, completely covered in pinkish marble with huge counter with two sinks. Separate large tub and shower. Tons of closet and drawer space.
a/​c works great, the place is very quiet, and we are very happy.
Valets/​bellmen are very friendly and helpful. Convenient location. Gym is a joke, it’s so small, but does have bike, treadmill and elliptical.

Excellent view !! And great service !! The rooms are old. But very clean and in general the hotel is not bad… It was my first time in Victoria and I’m glad I had this hotel with such a beautiful view! I think that is the best thing that this place has to offer! The only thing I would complain is that I think the place is a little pricey considering the hotel is not new… But maybe they are charging for the view? … Other than that everything else was good.

One of the worst hotels I had ever lived… No toothbrushes, no toothpaste, no free bottled water, ugly and stinky hallway, no free breakfast. And the price was so high, it was not worth it at all. I won’t recommend it to anyone… The price does not match the quality.

We have stayed here twice now, in the new wing. Both times exceeded our expectations, the staff were accommodating and friendly, the rooms were spotless and beautiful and you can’t beat the walk out patio into the Japanese garden. Beautiful!
The only issue I have is the soundproofing… it’s startling to wake up from a good sleep in the early hours to float planes taking off from the harbour. I will just have to make due sipping the delicious coffee from my patio overlooking the garden and harbour beyond in the super comfortable robes they provide for your stay.
Highly recommend this Inn, please keep in mind we have only stayed in the new wing. Beautiful rooms the soaker tub is pretty fantastic, and we will definitely re book whenever we travel to Victoria.

The staff was super polite (like most Canadians) and the bed was very comfortable. The only downside is that the walls are kinda thin. I got to hear the guy next door to us rock out while in the shower… It was quite a show.

So the manager refunded the brunch which was nice, tried to make things right. Still not crazy about the food, there are better brunches in Victoria, and the dine around dinner was not good. This hotel has definitely gone downhill and the wait staff were very snotty.

Best hotel decision I have made in years.
The boyfriend and I decided on a last minute weekend getaway and chose Victoria. After doing some research, we discovered the deal with the Victoria Clipper from Seattle to Victoria. This hotel was offered as a package deal and after reading the reviews on here decided why not!
We arrived earlier then our check in time and figured we would stop in and see if we could at least drop our bags off. To my surprise, they had our room ready and allowed us to check in early.
We didn’t have any solid plans on what we wanted to do while we were away, so figured we would ask the hotel desk staff for some recommendations and low and behold were completely blown away with the level of service we received. We were lucky enough to have James assist with checking us in and he went above and beyond to give personal recommendations for places to eat, and drink and have a great time while we were out. He even called up the restaurant he recommended to make sure they were still serving breakfast!
The hotel staff personally went through and made a list of restaurants they recommend based on their own experiences and have everything laid out in order of category. Ask for the pamphlet at check in!
The room was absolutely stunning. There’s two wings, one is older, the other was added at a later date. There isn’t any renovations being done like the other reviews say, but we stayed in the Erickson wing in an «Erickson Wing Studio Suite», and the room was everything you could ask for and more! The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was clean from head to toe and the view outside our room was gorgeous.
We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant or spend a ton of time there, but the walls weren’t thin like other reviews said, and this hotel went above and beyond to make our experience everything I could have imagined and more.
I look forward to our next stay out here in the summertime!
Ask for James, and stay in the Erickson wing and you are guaranteed to have an amazing time!

Excellent. Just excellent.
It’s clean, hospitable, and convenient. The rooms smell fresh and the linens are spotless.
It’s close to downtown, about a five minute walk, and not much further than that for other amenities and entertainment.
Free wifi is a huge plus and the valet parking happily takes care of your bags on check-​out day by putting them in the car for you as you head out to go play in Victoria. In addition, when checking out, the valet parking will allow you to store your vehicle for the day; such a convenience!
Thank you for a great weekend experience. I will be back!

My son and I stayed here for a long weekend and loved it. It’s a comfortable, nicely appointed hotel and we didn’t touch our car once while we were here, we walked everywhere. The food was excellent, the staff were all very nice and truly seemed happy to work here. Their sustainability initiatives are impressive.
We highly recommend it!

1. The exterior of the place (the renovated portion) looks awesome. The non-​renovated section looks dated. It looks like a new section was added on top of the older one.
2. The check in process was super quick. I highly recommend that TWO people work the front desk during check ins after 3pm but that wasn’t the case. There were 5 separate people waiting to check in with only one lady working.
3. The room was a complete let down. I had a special rate through someone I know so I paid quite a bit less than the advertised rate. If I had paid full price, I’d be giving this place 2 stars and would be quite miffed. Yes I enjoyed the Aveda products but they don’t make up for the completely dated room with horrible bedding. It definitely didn’t feel like a 3 or 4 or 5 star hotel.
4. I’ve never been told to call the morning of for a late check-​out possibility. Every single place I’ve stayed in will tell you that night if you can or cannot do late check-​out. The point of a late check-​out is to sleep in or do whatever and KNOW you have extra time. Calling in the morning to ask if it’s possible defeats the purpose.
5. GREAT LOCATION. I can’t knock the location of this place. It’s only a brisk 5 minute (or 10 minutes if you walk super slow or if you’re taking it all in) walk to the Fairmont Empress, Legislature, Royal Museum and Victoria Bus Terminal. I’d consider it again for the convenience now that I know the room isn’t that great.
6. Yes you can get a better room if you paid premium. The photos on Unilocal and on the website are for the renovated rooms, so don’t be shocked/​mortified when you get one of the unrenovated rooms. Also, the unrenovated room was TINY. It was the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in (even smaller than the private room I had at a hostel).
7. THIN WALLS! I’m not even saying if you’re getting frisky. I’m saying you can hear the actual words being spoken on the television. I was hearing the couple next door having a conversation. So if you’re looking for sexy time… then be prepared to make your neighbors quite uncomfortable.
8. Disregard the room measurements you see on Expedia and other sites because they are WRONG. I work in the construction industry and I can assure you that my standard room was not 300SF as advertised. It was 200SF at best.
I can get the same rate for a room at the Hotel Grand Pacific. I think I’ll try that next time simply because I’d hope the rooms are a bit more modern and don’t make me feel like I’m staying at a Motel 8 (not joking). I’ve stayed at Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn with better rooms. This place was decent but there’s nothing to brag about.

Very close to the ferry terminals, which is a delight for the weary traveler. The accommodations themselves are basic but nice, and the staff are friendly. The restaurant is unremarkable, maybe even disappointing given how good food in Victoria generally is.
While it’s nice to be near the ferry terminal on the day you arrive or depart via ferry, unless you really like water taxis and braving the amazing winds around the harbour, somewhere closer to town, or at least one of the villages further out (Cook Street or Oak Bay, perhaps) is probably more enjoyable. The nightly parking isn’t exceedingly-​cheap and it’s more interesting and reasonable to walk into town anyway. While you can very much get around by foot from the Inn, it’s not quick. If you’re bursting on the way back from a downtown pub, the walk can be quite damnable.
I’d stay there again if I had a ferry departing early or arriving late, but otherwise would rather look elsewhere. Still, if you get a good deal, it can be a very fine place to stay.
