Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza

This is our go to pizza place. We love the take and bake concept as it suits family life well. Our favorite pizza is the gourmet vegetarian. Don’t let the name fool you, this is still high in calories yet incredibly delicious. Make sure you sign up as a papa’s pal for a discount.

I ordered the Chicago Stuffed pizza ($ 20), as I was informed there was no bacon, it’s coming in tomorrow. When you live on an island it’s somewhat understandable, but their many bacon-​featured pizzas sounded yummiest.
The Chicago is large and somewhat like a calzone, with three meats on a tomato-​herb sauce inside and cheese, plus fresh tomato chunks, green onion and shredded cheese on top. It has weight to it. The surprise is how well it rises puffy and big and brown in the oven, making it sure like a calzone. The resulting outside crust is too big and bready, but the rest is quite good and well browned, heated through, not soggy or greasy.
I’d order again when I’m in the area, in a pinch for a later meal option. .. .
It’s not gourmet but it rates up there with or better than delivery or other take-​out. I see that if you either call ahead, order on-​line or do a survey, you can get the same pizza at a cheaper price, up to $ 3 off. No tax either.
