I come here once or twice a month and I’m always a kid in a candy store. The selection is superb but trust me, get some Diablo Sausage and smoked beef. The service is also friendly and on point and I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Aww hell yeah! Any place with the word meat in the title is after my own heart. I was in Victoria recently and it had been a year since my last visit. In that time period the Public Market has expanded and grown and filled out with more stalls. One of them is Ravenstone! The sandwich board had a Whiskey Smoked BLT written on it. Comprised of whiskey smoked bacon, pesto mayo, marinated tomato on a ciabatta bun, this was a total steal at just $ 8. In fact, it practically took longer to pay for the sandwich than it did to eat it. Better than just plain great food, after we took it to the center of the market to sit at some tables a gal came out to check on us and ask us how the food was. I was surprised she’d made all the effort, but it’s clear that they care about putting out great products and serving people food they’ll love.

This is a farm-to-table concept butcher shop with mostly local farm raised meats that also serves up delicious sandwiches… The Smoked Beef sandwich($ 8.00) had house smoked beef, with grainy mustard, mild horseradish mayo, sauerkraut on Cobb’s Bread light rye. I opted to add a salad for the combo($ 11.00 tax included). First served up was the delicious fresh greens with sliced strawberries, pecans and goat cheese was finished with a maple balsamic vinaigrette, stuffed into a disposable soup cup. A plentiful balance of ingredients with a rich sweet and sour dressing. The sandwich was satisfying, halved and tooth picked with stemmed capers. The beef was tender, lightly smoked and complimented by the mustard, mayo and not too much sauerkraut. There was care in both the sandwich and salad prep. A nice alternative to Roast sandwiches, next door, and costs slightly less. This is a good intro to the shop which focuses on a butcher cases full of artisan sausages, smoked meats and prime cuts of beef, chicken and pork to take home.
