History

Established in 2000.

The Wakefield Mill was originally built in 1838, operating as a flour mill. Mill operations evolved over the next 150 years until it was converted into a heritage museum in 1980. In 2000, a local husband and wife team, Robert Milling and Lynn Berthiaume, decided to breathe life back into the stone mill by restoring it into a country inn and destination spa. Two restaurants have been added since that time as well as the environmentally-​friendly Eco River Lodge with pool and hot tubs. Today, the Wakefield Mill Hotel & Spa offers you the perfect unique getaway. Located just a short drive from Ottawa in the heart of Gatineau Park, this enchanting hotel and boutique spa blends charm and comfort with history and scenic splendour. Chef de cuisine Rémi-​Paul Duval attends to the fine-​dining experience of the Muse Restaurant and the relaxed menu fare of the Heron Room.
