Blush Bridal and Special Occasions Wear

Weddings can be stressful and so can wedding dress shopping. But what is more fun than to be in a shop full of tulle, organza, lace and silk? It was like being a kid in a candy store. I wanted to try on everything. Well maybe not everything! Blush is a higher end bridal boutique in West Van where they house many great designers like reem acra, monique lhuillier, vera wang etc. Blush is not a very big store and spaces can be tight. The wedding consultant (an older lady) who helped us was very nice and worth coming with suggestions.
The overall experience was good until I wanted to look at some evening dresses at the front of the shop. The front of the house associate was rude and snooty and left a sour taste to the overall experience. I remember at the Crème de la Crème bridal show there was a Reem Acra red evening dress that I liked very much. When I asked about it, her reply basically meant it was out of my budget… But how would you know? Just because I am dress down in a casual outfit doesn’t mean nothing.
Furthermore, the dress she showed me was not the same dress as featured on the runway. The dress was missing a price tag and picture description. The associated wanted nothing to do with us, did not want to find out the dress information, and frankly wanted us gone.
Sorry, but I think I buy my dress at some other bridal shop in Vancouver… perhaps even head down to San Francisco. I rather fly than to give business here.

I find myself trying to love this place, but it fell a little short of my expectations.
This was the second place I tried on dresses, and didn’t really get the experience I was looking for. The girl seemed a little rushed (yes, it was a Saturday, but I was also hoping to find my wedding dress, and would have been willing to buy right then and there), and she seemed annoyed at my 3 bridesmaids, who were brutally honest (which I asked them to be!).
When you first walk through the show room with the staff member you can select the dresses you want to try on. I didn’t look at all the price tags (my bad!), and ended up trying on may too many dresses that were impossibly out of my price range — i.e. a $ 4000 dress, when I had stated my budget to be under $ 1200. I would have appreciated her telling me before I put them on so I didn’t fall in love with such an expensive dress.
I ended up liking (not loving) one dress, but couldn’t bring myself to buy it, as the whole day just felt stressed.
I do like that they give you spanx to wear while you try on the dresses — makes it a lot easier to slip them on and off when you’re in a hurry. I also REALLY appreciated that they sent an email after the appointment with photos of my top 3 dresses.
Their bridesmaid dress collection left a lot to be desired. The only one we liked was more expensive than my dress! Eek.

Had a hard time getting a hold of this store for a week, to make an appointment. When I finally did, I outlined that I was looking for a wedding dress and wanted to check out the Donna Morgan dresses they carry. They’re the only supplier listed for BC and when I outlined this, I was told appointments aren’t necessary to look at the cocktail dresses.
When I arrived for my appointment, I was directed to the back where most of the dresses are. I outlined what I was looking for and my price range. As this is a more expensive boutique, there were very few dresses in my price range and none that matched what I was looking for. The dresses that were available were not in my size and so that made things look even worse. It was outlined that as they’re doing construction in the store, lots of dresses have been placed in storage and were not available. I was pretty choked after driving for an hour and a half through traffic to learn this. Especially as I had made the appointment two days earlier. That ended the bridal portion of our visit.
We went back out to the cocktail dress section and looked through what was available. I couldn’t find any DM dresses and upon asking, found out that they were also in storage. And to add to it, I was told with a sneer that they only had a couple and they were on sale.
I understand that this is a typical West Vancouver boutique store with higher prices, but information about the majority of stock not being in store should definitely be shared with customers before they waste their time.

Another place that I came with my friend for wedding dress shopping (for her). The consultant was excellent and open with which dresses looked good on my friend and which didn’t. She also walked us through the selection explaining each designer and what their individual preferences were in terms of design.
Blush carries a lot of more «romantic» styles, as well as designs by Amsale, which I love! The dresses are all made of really good materials and show a lot of care in workmanship. Even though I’m not planning any nuptials in the near future I’d definitely come here for dresses.
They also host trunk shows throughout the year, and if you buy a dress during a trunk show you get a small discount :)
