Pastameli is under new ownership! We have launched a new menu featuring some of the old and some fantastic fresh new menu items prepared by our Head Chef Don Barron. We have a completely renovated dinning area complete with a sit up bar, big screens and an updated wine and cocktail menu. Come with your family for a casual dinning experience, bring the boys to watch a game or enjoy a romantic date with some live acoustic guitar playing on our side stage.

If dinning in is not what you are looking for we also have a large deli selection complete with pizza, pasta and fresh salads for you to take on your way. A great stop before your ferry sailing or drive up to Whistler.

We can’t wait for you to see the NEW Pastameli and discover a whole new dinning experience in West Vancouver.

History

Established in 1985.

Pastameli’s have been in Caulfeild Village in West Vancouver for over 25 years now. Colin and Kim Taylor just purchased the restaurant in December of 2012 and have renovated it keeping some of the old favorites but updated the décor and menu.

Business Owner

Colin and Kim Taylor are proud to introduce themselves as the new owners of Pastameli Restaurant in the picturesque community of Caulfield in West Vancouver.

Colin has an extensive background within the service industry, spanning over 22 years. Growing up as a Horseshoe Bay local he is familiar with West Vancouver and has known of Pastameli for as long as he can remember.

Colin met Kim, a Saskatchewan native, 14 years ago when they both worked in a West Coast inspired restaurant. They are since married and have two young children. Kim also brings with her over 20 years of experience within the industry and is proud to put her skills to work within the daily operation of the restaurant.

It was only fitting that these two would take on a new adventure and so they purchased Pastameli from well-​known local business owner, Bruce Meli. Bruce owned the successful restaurant for 25 years, which opened in 1983 as a pasta shop on Robson St. in Vancouver.

2+ years later and we are still enjoying Pastamelli’s for a nice dinner out in our neighbourhood. We were there last week and I had the Beet Fries (addictive) and the Root Beer Short Ribs (Yum!). We went with another couple from the neighbourhood who hadn’t been since it changed hands and they loved it.
It is getting busier and busier every time we go.
We tell 2 friends, they tell 2 friends and so on and so on…
I strongly recommend making reservations for dinner but if not the bar seating is a good alternative (if available).

Great service from the start. I emailed ahead to ask that we get a birthday desert for my husband and a lovely cheesecake came out with a candle on top, much to my kid’s delight and his embarrassment! They were super accommodating for my fussy kid and spaghetti, sauce and meatballs were all brought out separately and sans garnish, as requested, which was huge and meant no picking out Parmesan and parsley for us.
We had beet fries which were delicious. Meat lasagne and aubergine/​pasta main were also lovely. Kid actually commented on how delicious the meatballs were to the waitress so big success all round.

Love this place! Nice and cozy inside, staff is always super nice and give great service. The pizza is amazing! Best place for pizza, hands down. They also have a party size which is perfect for my family of 6!

Another great meal at Pastameli’s. I have been there a number of times over the past 10 years. I believe that it is now under new management. The menu is new and very exciting. Great selection of starters (I recommend the mussels) and wines. This last time I chose to have a pizza. Really good pizza and you get a hint of what’s in store for you as you come in the front door and pass by the kitchen. The aromas greet you and entice you from the get go.
Great place in Caufield for lunch or supper. You might want to consider reservations if you are going in the evening though.

Pastameli has been at Caulfeild Village since… since the mall was built (ages ago). It was fine – kind of a family place. Lots of pasta, pizza. It was a reliable place to go for a decent hot meal, even if you did have to eat with the photograph of the owner’s mother hanging over your head.
A young couple recently bought the place. They were a little disorganized at first – I’m not sure how much experience they had. But they’re now in the groove and it’s become a terrific restaurant. The steak there is the best I’ve ever had, ditto the sambuca prawns. The meatballs are wonderful, the chicken parmesan is wonderful, the seafood soup is wonderful – there isn’t a bad dish on the menu. The only criticism is that the Sunday roast is too rare, the chef is a little too free with the salt, they don’t serve free-​range chicken and the Alfredo sauce isn’t good (the Alfredo sauce has never been good there).
There are two things they should do to improve though – ditch the live music on Fridays and Saturdays (the place is too small for it). And change the name – they need to get rid of the old and make it their own.

I would almost give it 5 stars, but it was lacking home made pasta. I ordered the lasagna (which was very good, apart from the fact that the lasagna noodles were obviously about the same as a grocery store box) but the meat, cheese and sauce were very good.
My wife had the salmon (locally caught) which was the best she has ever had (in terms of Salmon). It cut like butter and she loved the sauce that came with it.
We also ordered the cheesecake, and though they purchase it from elsewhere, it was very good.
I think that if they start making their own pasta, this would be a 5 star restaurant and more people would make the trip.
Definite difference from where we tried to eat in the morning and had to leave (see my review of Red Bench, 1 star).

Smells amazing, looks amazing and tastes amazing. When you dine in you get exquisite meals. On the other hand when you get take out pizza it is not so exquisite. A little dry but lots of toppings and amazing dough.

Pastameli is a cozy, unpretentious restaurant with a decent menu and friendly service — the owner is often there making sure everyone is happy. We haven’t tried the pizzas yet, but they look great. Excellent burgers, eggplant parmesan, salads, flatbreads, and other Italian entrees. Check the chalk board for the weekly specials (Fridays they have $ 1.00 oysters — yum). As a plus, the Spousal Unit says they know how to take care of their on-​tap beer. This place has become one of our local regulars.

My brother, sister and I all have young kids so we rarely have a chance to get together — Complexity is further compounded by the fact my brother lives on Bowen Island.
But we’d finally found a Saturday night where we could get together for some food and drink. Our spouses were going to look after the kids and my brother was going to be on this side of the pond.
I saw good reviews here for Pastameli so yesterday I called them up for a reservation — Caufield was convenient as my brother could easily make his way to Horseshoe Bay from there.
«Party of 3? 6pm? No problem!» they said.“
Great! I let my sibs know, carpools were planned and we were good to go.
Then today, *90 minutes before our reservation* they call us to tell us they can’t honour our reservation as an entire party has booked up the restaurant. They couldn’t tell us earlier? Yesterday, when I called, they didn’t know ahead of time that they were going to be booked solid?
«Yeah, uh, we can’t take you anymore? Maybe you’d like a coupon or something?»
Coupon? What good is that? We’re never going to be in this disorganized excuse for a restaurant again.

Great fluffy, light, warm garlic bread.
Dinners include soup or salad and ice cream dessert.
The one issue I have with this place is that the salad bowl is so tiny that you can’t help but spill some out when you try to get a scoop of salad. It’s not the amount of salad I’m objecting to, just the tiny bowl they serve it in.
Reasonable selection of bottled beer and wine.

Stopped by here to get some pizza while I was in Caulfeild. The All-​Meat had some of the best tasting toppings I have had in quite some time. I will have to go back and try some of their pasta as well. The restaurant has a market-​place like look to it. There is a decent amount of seating inside and some outdoor seating as well.

We stumbled upon Pastameli while driving from Vancouver to Whistler. Got off the freeway because we saw a FOOD sign, and this was the first place that caught our attention. Kinda sad that we left the States to come to a New York themed restaurant, but oh well.
They offer pizza by the slice and other to-​go orders up front, with a dining area in the back. I ordered a veggie panini, and it was a lot better than I had anticipated. Those sandwiches can easily go either way, so this was a relief. The heaping basket of garlic bread that came to the table was also very good and much appreciated. Everyone in the group was very pleased with their lunch. Cokes were refilled promptly and service all around was great.
You never know what you’re going to get at a shopping mall restaurant like this, but I am pleased to announce that it is a quality restaurant and I’m glad we found it.

Was led here by the infamous ‘Entertainment Book’ and a driver who didn’t have a care in the world about gas prices, so why not try a coupon that is out of the blue, and a place that was practically in the woods! Be warned, the lighting is really dim in here, and for those of you who fall asleep very fast when the lights are put down, you may fall asleep here.
The place has a very ‘homey’ feel to it, and the menu is quite vast, a good assortment of pizza’s and pasta’s to quench the appetite. We, on this day had their pasta orders, and you have a choice of a combo, or just the main serving. Service was prompt and the food was very tasty. If I am ever back in this neck of the woods again I would like to try the pasta, as it was laid out in the front once you enter.
The restaurant is located in a plaza, so you do not have to worry about this. And since the portion that I had was pretty big, I packed the rest to go, and it was still good when I got home.

Pastameli’s is an awesome family restaurant. You can dine in, pick up, have food delivered, or just drop by and pick up a slice of pizza at the counter if you are in a rush. It’s the closest restaurant to my house, so I go there quite often when I don’t feel like cooking. The pizza is delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The crust is thick and light? Don’t know how that is possible, but it is. I pretty much only eat the eggplant parm when I eat pasta there. Cheesy and delicious. I like my eggplant a little firmer, but it still tastes very good. The service is excellent. I was picking the olives off my friends salad when we were there last Saturday, and the waitress brought me a little dish of olives! Score! One thing to avoid, is going there around lunch time during the school year… About 100 kids from Rockridge HS will be at the pizza counter and loitering around outside.
