Coast Blackcomb Suites

As I work in the hotel industry I always grade a bit harsher, this place was very nice!
My aunt paid for the room as it was a family trip so I was happy not to pay but could not give you detail on the rate paid.
We checked in on a busy day and our room wasn’t ready until check in time. once again I work in the hotel industry so I know the deal not an issue for other getting checked in early.
The front desk was really nice and friendly.
The room was not huge but perfect for me and my girlfriend right against the tree line … I’m from Southern California so this was a very nice change of view for me.
Kitchenette was a plus as well
Breakfast. … sealed the deal. By far the best complimentary breakfast I have seen working and staying in hotels I ate so much the last day I’m slept like a baby on the ride home. Waffles, cereal, bread, muffins, too much to remember.
All in all it helped for my vacation and would recommend this hotel to friends and family

This place deserves ZERO STAR by all definitions.
Uncomfortably hot stuffy hotel rooms is the top featured elevator discussion topic amongst this hotel’s guests. This is not a joke!
Seriously this hotel management is terribly reluctant to invest any of their precious $ in getting any proper A/​C system, NOT even any portable A/​C as an interim measure for their guests. You are no different than a cattle in their barn.
Complaints to their useless hotel manager is no where fruitful. The manager, a she, righteously defended the reason for not having A/​C in their guest rooms and in the whole building as due to its location at Whistler, thus a ski resort. Ok, If that argument ever flies, then they SHALL NOT open for business at all during any of the summer months when the inland temp is averaging 30C hot daily!!! Also, guess what, since the hotel has NOT mentioned their rooms having A/​C in their rooms, then they cannot refund you for a feature that is not advertised, right?! Just does it ever cross your mind that a hotel room you had paid $ 185 /​night, doesn’t have A/​C !!! Even crappy Super8 rooms have A/​C, seriously! The manager also humored us and «gladly invited» their guests to cool themselves down into the hotel swimming pool during the day — instead of in the comfort of your own room in our own privy. Just the «thoughtfulness» of this hotel manager is beyond comprehension~~
Even more ridiculous, the management thinks their o-​so-​loud & annoying portable fan can keep the room temperature cool down enough at night after the scouring afternoon sun ray. If we were to stay here more than 1 night, I couldn’t imagine what I will do next.
This hotel location sucks any time in winter and summer as it is on a hill slope. Walking up and down the steep hill from the hotel to the village below on any day is already a hike /​torture all by itself. Their free shuttle helps slightly if you are not in a hurry, as it services and stops at all hotels up on the Blackcomb mtn, but as Coast Blackcomb is the one at the VERY TOP, it takes forever for the shuttle to eventually crawl back to the hotel from village, give and take +/​-​30min, providing if you haven’t missed the shuttle.

Stayed 2÷15÷14−2÷21÷14. Overall a nice hotel with good amenities in a great location. Two hot tubs and a heated pool came in handy after skiing all day. Ski in /​ski out and the shuttle into the village is great. Friendly staff. Good breakfast is included although scrambled eggs and bacon and/​or sausage would’ve nicely complimented the vast array of carb loaded foods offered. The rooms were just ok. They definitely need updated furniture. Housekeeping was ok although my bathroom garbage was not emptied once all week… So I did it. I would return.

A bit of a hit and miss on this hotel. The room was decent. It was an odd layout but definitely fine for us. The free shuttle too and from the village was very handy and the hot tub area was great. Part of the reason we chose the place is because it had free breakfast. The breakfast however was a hot mess. They had two waffle makers which you had to queue for 20 mins to use. The breakfast room was crazy and kind of disorganized and the food available was not great. The only other gripe was the car park was tiny and hard to get in and out of.

Smaller room (suite) than I expected. Excellent kitchen w/​everything you need. Very friendly staff and clean place. Good breakfast; however, would like to see more options other than carbs.
Horrible wifi.

Went up for a getaway with my boyfriend during the BC Day long weekend (Aug 2 – 5).
The hotel was a little dated, but kept very neat and clean. We stayed in a studio suite which has: fireplace, stovetop/​oven, microwave, kettle, coffeemaker, fridge, dishwasher, fridge, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, and a variety of dishes/​cutlery (thought not as much or as varied as was advertised). The suite also has a private balcony, which was lovely for afternoon tea. Daily housekeeping is provided.
I think the ski in/​ski out would be great in the winter, and it is a 10 – 15 minute hike up from the Blackcomb wizard chair. It is a good 15−20minute walk from the village, but has a complimentary shuttle to the village every half an hour. Meant that we drove down and parked at the village a lot.
Complimentary breakfast was great: tea, coffee, cereal, toast, bagels, wafflemaker, boiled eggs, etc. Very filling and tasty.
Hotel has gated underground parking, but for $ 23/​day in the summer! I think that is quite outrageous (even if it is usual for Whistler). We thought we were paying $ 130/​night but, when you factor in parking and the fact that there is no where else to park, we were paying upwards of $ 150/​night. That changes things significantly. I really hate when hotels have hidden fees and add-​ons, it really affects the vibe and you feel a little «robbed» when that happens. We decided to pay it, but I would honestly just park in the free parking lots by the village and walk up to the hotel each time.
If a hotel representative is reading this, you would be much better off for a return visit from me if you just made your rooms slightly more expensive and INCLUDED parking in the rate. I would have maybe given you 4 stars and been more inclined to return had I not felt «cheated» by the hidden parking cost.

Late November 2012.
Stayed for the 2^nd half of our trip to Canada. Studio Room is nice. Kitchen is just big enough to cook in. Beware. No baking dishes to make shepards pie or macaroni or lasagna etc. the coffee maker is a piece of $hit so good luck with that.
Bathroom was nice. Tub was big enough to soak in and we never ran out of hot water. They give you full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash!
Continental breakfast opens late every morning and is lack luster. Moldy fruit a couple times. :[
I’m sure the ski on access is nice, we didn’t have enough snow to do so.
Bed was nothing to rejoice but I’ve had to sleep on worse.
Parking. Holy crap the spots are small. We had a Ford Explorer and I had to crawl in and out of the back of the vehicle. I’m pretty sure that’s where we got the dent in the rental.
Overall. It was decent for the location. But I paid less then a bill a night, if it was any more I would have been disappointed.
Side note. Groceries are almost the same cost as California groceries. Idk why people are crying the blues about food costs.

This hotel was touted as 4 stars and I disagree with that rating though there were a number of positives for the hotel.
Pros: Strong wifi signal, complimentary breakfast, ski in/​out, friendly staff, pet friendly if you bring your pet.
Cons: Far from Whistler village — complimentary shuttle came every 30 minutes while we were there (4÷30−5÷3) so perhaps that is not the norm, but we ended up driving down and parking in lot 4, the free parking area.; hotel is a bit worn and walls and ceiling are thin — could hear the kids running upstairs and the neighbor next door. Parking was $ 19/​day during our stay or $ 23/​day during peak periods.
Full kitchen was nice, coffeemaker had decent coffee, blowdryer, shampoo, conditioner, lotion — all great. No shower cap although the empty box was there. Lots of hot water, beds are average, and rooms are fairly small — again, not what I expected for a rating of 4 stars.
Complimentary breakfast included waffle maker, hot oatmeal, cold boiled eggs that were very vinegary, pastries, toast, cold cereal, apples, and oranges, and yogurt. Enough to get you started.
Ski out is ok — you are right by the Wizards Express chair which was the only lift running from the bottom. Every day they snowplowed about a 5′ patch of snow so that you could ski down.
Ski in — little scary as it is all slush during the time frame we were there and again, a small 5′ wide patch. We skiied down the first day and then downloaded onto the wizard chair on the 2^nd day. The walk UPHILL is about a 20 minute walk so your choice between the ski in or walk up.
Use your capital one credit card for purchases or you will get charged a foreign transaction fee if you are from anywhere other than Canada! Pricing for 4÷30−5÷3 was $ 113 per night, but tack on another $ 17 of fees and taxes plus the daily rate of $ 19/​parking.

It’s more like a 3.5 stars. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the location of this place because you can just snowboard/​ski down as soon as you finish the complimentary breakfast!
Sure it isn’t close to Whistler Village, but there is a free shuttle that comes quite often, and the last one runs at 1:30am, unless it is freezing cold, this isn’t too bad!
This past weekend was my second time at Coast and I must say, I think they are skimping out a bit. They use to have scrambled eggs, etc, this time they only had boiled eggs and no meats. However, the breakfast is complimentary, so I am not going to complain too much.
The rooms are also not the newest nor cleanest. I actually found a bug in my towel! (Good thing I check all towels before using them from a hotel!) The TVs are also disappointingly small and no HD or anything like that. The pull out couch is worn. you can tell as soon as you sit on the couch itself. The plus side of this suite is that there is a kitchenette filled with everything you would need. dishes, pots, pans, utensils. so if you are budgetting you can definitely go to the market and make food at the Suite.
Again, it isn’t the fanciest of places, but if you are thinking about the convenience of a true ski-​in ski-​out for a great value then Coast Blackomb is definitely it!

I’ve stayed at larger resorts with five-​star treatment, but the ski-​in, ski-​out at this place makes it easy to leave the luxury living behind. It is literally steps to the mountain and ski storage service makes it even more of a breeze to get on and off the slopes. We saved spending money on overpriced ski lodge meals by lunching in our room. Very convenient.
Free breakfast is a great plus, although it was very carb heavy (muffins, pastries, oatmeal, bread, and WAFFLES!). However, you’re welcome to bring your plates up to the rooms, so we ended up supplementing breakfast with our own eggs and meats. We also grabbed a few extra pastries for an apres ski snack. :)
The outdoor hot tubs and pools were great for relaxing after a long day of skiing. Very novel to steam in the tub while the snowfall coats the top of your head.
It was easy to get to the village using the free bus service (it runs about every 15 minutes). They also have underground parking, if you have a car.
I would definitely stay here again!

Great value, great location, a bit worn out.
We recently spent a weekend at the Coast Blackcomb. The location is fantastic for ski-​in, ski-​out. it’s ‘That’ hot tub you see from the wizard chair. the location is not so good for getting to and from the village, but there’s a free shuttle that comes every 15 minutes.
The staff at the hotel are very friendly, although not the most professional i’ve experienced. around 4pm (peak hotel check in time) there was a line of 6 people waiting for service at the front desk, and i could see a staff member in the back office instead of helping the guests who were lined up.
the continental breakfast is included and isn’t half bad. lots of pastries, yogurt, coffee, tea, and the piece de resistance, the WAFFLE STATION. it’s actually not so exciting, as there aren’t a lot of toppings other than corn syrup.
the rooms are big, clean, and well laid-​out, but the décor could use an update. the walls are also pretty thin, which makes 10−11pm pretty noisy as the bar stars get ready to go out. wi-​fi is free, but slow.
