The Song Spot is a home music studio designed and created specifically for children. We offer group and private lessons for children of all ages. Our group classes introduce babies, young children and their parents to music and set a foundation for a life-​long love of music. As your child grows, they can continue their education with The Song Spot through private piano or voice lessons.

Andrea Akers, BFA, MLIS

Music Educator/​Owner

Andrea began studying voice with Eric James, a music associate for Charlie Chaplin and a conductor/​composer for the BBC. Eric and his wife Phyllis O’Reilly (an established classical singer), trained Andrea for 9 years until she left to attend University. At York University Andrea studied classical voice under the tutelage of famous Mezzo-​Soprano Catherine Robbin.

Upon graduation Andrea became a studio manager and teacher for the Ontario Conservatory of Music while she continued her studies at University of Toronto, working toward her Master of Library Science degree. With her Masters degree obtained she began leading musical story times at Vaughan Public Libraries. Each week Andrea lead the extremely successful Born to Read, Toddling to Read, Ready to Read and Family Story time programs. In these programs Andrea saw the effects of music on children of all ages.
