Pavlos Restaurant

You can’t give a good review when they refuse to deliver to you! We have been ordering pizza from this place for almost 2 years very regularly with no problem. Went to order tonight and denied! They won’t deliver to us anymore. I guess they is no customer loyalty here.

We were here as a large group (10 or 12 of us) a year or two ago. Of the meals, which all took a very long time to come out of the kitchen, three were cold (all steak or prime rib), two undercooked (both fish), and mine came about 15 minutes after everyone else had started. No one was impressed with the quality of their meals. As mentioned in another review, the menu offers everything from Greek food, to pizza, to steak, to seafood. Sort of a «Jack of all trades, master of none» situation. We were here as the kick-​off to our family reunion, and wish we had gone somewhere with better food and service. There are many other family owned restaurants in the near vicinity, so I recommend you try those (and just about all other restaurants!) before going to Pavlo’s.

Oh dear. Normally I try to steer clear of chain restaurants in favour of trying new and different places, but if you find yourself in White Rock for a random cultural event, you may be doing yourself a favour by going to the Boston Pizza or Cactus Club nearby.
This is one of those places that has everything from steak to seafood to pizza on the menu, which sends out the warning flag that they don’t do any one of those items particularly well. Unfortunately that was the case here. We were with a semi-​large group and I can’t speak for everyone, but the three people sitting closest to me weren’t impressed. My friend had the shrimp souvlaki dinner, and her shrimp was rubbery and way overcooked. I had the same Greek-​style dinner but with chicken instead of shrimp. It wasn’t memorable or exciting, but to be fair, it wasn’t completely awful, either. The chicken was juicy and not over-​cooked, and the rice pilaf was tasty enough — although, it is pretty difficult to screw up cooking some rice and adding a bit of seasoning, in my opinion. Aside from the service (also not great) and décor (last decorated circa 1965), our biggest collective complaint was the wine. We ordered a bottle of the pinot gris and it tasted like bad homemade wine.
Not that I’m a regular visitor to White Rock, but Cactus Club it is next time.
