The quality is just OK, not impressed and it’s overpriced. I can have better choice in downtown Vancouver for sure.

Not impressed, my first time here to pick up ! I ordered 3 rolls 2 sashimi and edamame… It came to $ 66. I thought it was overpriced considering the amount and size of the sashimi pieces and rolls. I asked if it was enough for 2 when ordering, expected it should be… the fellow on the phone said yes with hesitation ! When I went to pick up I actually even asked«is it all here»? I even checked the bag to see when I got to the car… It was all in one container and didn’t weigh much. Once I got home I opened the container and there was no ginger nor wasabi so I called to ask if they usually have it … He said he would go ask the chef ??? He politely apologized … That was it ! I was already home 20 minutes away and hungry like a bear … My son and I ate it, it was good… but not impressed.

Taka is a great little zip-to in White Rock at the ‘bend of 152nd st’ or 5-Corners. When you see a flick of Chinese students packed in there every night, you know it’s good. The sushi is delish, not too high a price yet complimenting to some of the crazy rolls they have which are ordered by most, not left behind. Sashimi is and has been for years, a strong 8 out of 10, but Taka’s personality and the shop cleanliness are A-1!

Taste good, very fresh. They barely serve fully cooked stuff, be prepared. The sushi hey make taste fabulous. The reason I gave them 3 star is because I feel like their stuff is kinda over price and you can get the same kind of freshness else

If you’ve been here before you’ll be disappointed… :( The chef left in November and my experience with sushi will never be the same(it was never the same after I tried the food in the first place). The sushi was still fine, but it was not on the level it previously was. These stars are in homage to Chef Taka.

Taka’s sushi is fusion style. Their sushi rolls have creative names, many different ingredients added together, with various sauces, and colorful presentation. Other fusion style sushi I have had are mostly by Hong Kong chefs in lower-price restaurants. Both of Taka’s chefs are from mainland China, and their fusion-styled sushi is the best I have ever had. Having said that, their roll still fell short of expectation. The roll is irregular shape. When you pick it up, the rice and everything else just fell apart. That’s when I realized that there still are lots of room for improvement on the chef’s basic sushi skills. And a lot of the excellent taste I have experienced come from the sweet sauces. My friend and I ordered a total of 16 pieces of sushi and the signature«handsome roll». We split that. The pieces are really small, and we left still hungry. Paid $ 115 for two people. That is more than what I paid at the award-winning Miku in downtown just a few days ago. Miku also has(and is famous for) Aburi sushi. Miku’s Aburi sushi is larger, cheaper, and tastes better. Going to Taka’s has made me realize how much I prefer a more traditional Japanese restaurant, such as Seto or Hachi in Richmond. For the same price, you can get a very very satisfying meal, with more fish and no sweet sauce.

Little pricey but so good! And it’s run by the loveliest Japanese couple. People come from out of town to cram into that little place. Never disappointed. Thank you taka

Went on a fri afternoon around 1ish, it’s a cozy small sushi restaurant. Got the seat at the sushi bar, the boss suggest whats fresh on da menu, we had some uni, assorted aburi sushi(lobster, hotate, and some other fish type) it’s really good, but also expensive lol. We spend $ 140 on lunch… for the very first time … but its a good try.

This is one of our favorite sushi places! When we would live in Bellingham, we would drive all the way to White Rock just to eat at Taka’s Sushi. * The Service * Taka is the cheff and the owner. He was there every single time we visited and always made the best food. The server is a super nice lady. She’s super prompt and very friendly. As a summary, you’ll enjoy the service * The Restaurant * The restaurant is very small. Two tables that can fit about 4 people each and a mini bar that can fit about 4 – 5. I guess that’s the main reason it’s called«Take-Out» Sushi. However, we never had to wait a very long time to get a table. The longest we waited was about 30 – 40 minutes, and on average we waited about 10 – 15 minutes. *The Food* The sushi is amazing! AMAZING(I had to use caps to get the idea across)! We were here over 15 times and we were never disappointed. We ordered everything you can imagine: From the items with the lowest price on the menu, to the most expensive items offered. Everything was truly delicious.

Pretty great rolls! We ordered 4 rolls: the Spicy Hama, the Tiger Eye, Unagi and Cream Cheese, and the Taka’s Fire roll. We wanted to order some aburi sushi and sashimi as well but it seemed a bit overpriced and stuck with the rolls. The Taka’s Fire roll was intended to be spicy but didn’t feel spicy enough. All the cream cheese rolls(the Unagi and Tiger Eye) were great and creamy. Food was great, but the place is tiny– there are 4 bar seats and two 4-person high tables(hence the«take out» in the restaurant’s name). White Rock is pretty gorgeous tho so we sat outside. Service was okay, the waitress seemed pretty exhausted by a bunch of loud kids waiting for a table, but our food was ready right on time. tl;dr: order rolls with cream cheese, their spicy isn’t very spicy, and take out or wait for a long time to be seated at a very cramped table.

My fiancée and I came here for lunch on our last day stay at White Rock and we are so glad we made time for this place. If we could give this place more than 5 stars, we would do so in a heartbeat! We sat at the sushi bar and were lucky enough to be served by Taka. Taka was really nice, always asked how we were doing. The food arrived fairly quickly and they were AMAZEBALLS! The black peppered tuna tataki and kanpachi sashimi just melts in your mouth! Our favorite was the Foie Gras Aburi Sushi. Although it’s $ 7.50 per, it is worth every bite. Price was reasonable for the high quality of food you will get. The restaurant is a bit small so expect a long wait during peak hours. There are lots of parking around the area. They were out of uni(sea urchin) that day but we will definitely try it next time. Their food is totally worth the detour to White Rock!

Worst experience ever! It’s our first time there and we asked if there are anything she can recommend, the hostess just throw us a bunch of menus and ask us to find out by our own!!! Excuse me! Everything the hostess said feels like she doesn’t care if they lose any customers because we are new and they are popular???

4.5 stars The bf and I made a trip out to White Rock specifically for Taka’s. Its got a decent selection of sushi with a few items that I normally don’t see at other sushi restaurants. — Wagyu beef(We had it aburi style) — Monkfish Liver Pâté(I’m usually not a fan of pâté, but this was tasty) — Horse Dung Sea Urchin(Yes, it’s a real thing. Apparently its a different type of sea urchin) — Foie Gras(Didn’t get to try this) We had time to kill so waiting for a while for a table was not much of an issue. This is a super tiny sushi joint. There’s a sushi bar that sits 4 ppl and probably 2 or 3 little round tables with bar stools. Highly NOT recommended for groups of more than 4. Sidenote: I’m not sure if the owner/sushi chef is actually Japanese. The entire time we were there, we kept hearing a lot of Mandarin being spoken.

It’s sooooo worth the 40 minute drive. Seriously, Amazing amazing sushi. Especially the foie gras aburi. I know it’s $ 8 per piece, but it’s like a party in the mouth Everything on the aburi menu is wonderful. And the sashimi melts without any efforts Fresh, friendly, delicious, and unique. How I wish this is closer… The place is quite small, last time I waited an hour for take out. If your time permits, I think it’s best to dine in.

Orgasmic. Yup, thought I’d never say that but this is the place if you’re into quality, aburi-style plus special rolls. But if you’re looking for cheap, fast-food, good value, then don’t come here, it’s as simple as that lol. The sashimi just melts in your mouth but didn’t order the plain jane salmon/tuna; tried different ones like Flounder, White Fish… just amazing. Didn’t care too much for their salad nor the scallop nigiri aburi/blow-torched style, but again, the flounder takes the cake, as well as the Bluetail Toro, though at $ 6.75 a pop, the latter I may pass up b/c I can get 2 pieces of the Flounder aburi. again, just magnificent. for a true sushi lover, this is worth the 30min. drive down highway, exit 8A along 152nd St. but really, you’re in White Rock. Also, their Signature Roll, handsome Bill, does indeed rock; almost like a Las vegas roll from Sushiholics or Awesome roll from Sushi Town, at that level of «mmmmmm» moment… not saying which one’s better b/c all 3 I will repeatedly order again and again and again… lol I’d pass on the Sunset roll, avocado and salmon, nothing special… and Taka’s Fire, supposingly spicy with tuna and some crunch bits, not hot at all yet still yummy. If u’re smart and sit at the bar, you get some good advice/stories from one of the chefs who surprisingly speak perfect English. the rest of staff, well, I can’t say it’s as authentic but the hostess sure is ;)

Taka is by far my favourite sushi spot in Vancouver! It’s slightly out of the way being in White Rock, but I would drive here just to eat the seared sushi! Taka(the sushi chef) is the best! He is passionate about sushi and he knows his stuff! If you over order or order the wrong combination, he will let you know. I always try to go with his suggestions as I have not been disappointed! Do note, Taka does not serve hot food, mainly nigri, sashimi and sushi rolls. Order the seared sushi set, it’s not on the menu, but if you ask Taka about it, I can assure that you will be in sushi heaven!!! The sushi set consists of 8 – 9 pieces of seared toro sushi! Each piece of toro sushi literally melts in your mouth! SOOGOOOD! For rolls, I recommend the Handsome Bill Roll, it’s jam packed with good stuff!
