I always think of JYSK as a poor mans IKEA. Items are not at the quality level of anything that will last for an extended period of time, Store always seems messy and staff are indifferent. Prices are cheaper but quality is lacking.

This place is pretty much THE worst home furnishing business that I have ever dealt with. It all started with my trying to save some money on a mattress. Their website promises that a manager from the store will contact me to arrange for a delivery. Silly me, because I thought that meant some sort of flexibility on their part. I asked for it to be delivered on a Thursday weeks in advance, They said only Wednesday from 12−5pm was available. Fine. That’s reasonable. Come 11pm Wednesday, I get a call from the delivery guy saying someone quit on him and he could only deliver it on Friday. This is after I travelled 3.5 hours from Toronto and rearranged my plans for them. He said there was nothing he could do and told ME to contact the store to have another delivery service deliver it. Um… why he didn’t do this I’ll never know. I do this. After being hung up on a few times after being told I was being transferred, I finally get to an employee who tells me they’ll try to deliver it today. He calls back a while later saying the earliest they could do was the next day. How can a home furnishing company that bases a lot of its business on online ordering and deliveries NOT have a contigency plan for deliveries?! I ask for a refund at this point. He asks to put me on hold. Finally, he comes back and tells me they can probably deliver it today via the manager’s husband’s pickup truck. That’s their contingency plan I guess. Fine I say. Later he calls back saying they’ll be there around 4:35. I accept this because I just wanted a bed to sleep in. 5pm and still no delivery guys here. I call them and after being hung up on(I can’t tell if their employees just don’t know how to transfer phone calls), I finally get to someone who tells me they’ll probably be there soon because they just left. Thanks. At 5:30 they arrive. Almost a full hour late. No apologies from them of course. For ANYTHING. One guy helps me take the mattress into my unit and promptly leaves. Oh wait. they almost forgot to give me my facecloth. All this time, the ONLY person who even gave a half-hearted apology was the original delivery guy in the first place who called me an hour before the expected delivery time to cancel. I long for the day Ikea arrives in Windsor.
