Great milkshake! I had the S’mores one and it was delicious. Portion is generous for the price as well, which is a bonus.

Huge fan of the retro look and feel of this diner. Food is very good. Great place to go for breakfast. The milkshakes are delicious. The donuts are also very good. They’re served warm with cinnamon and sugar. This place is the place to be on Saturday. Sunday mornings are crazy busy go very early because if the after church rush hits, you’ll be waiting about 30 minutes plus.

My first time dining here and was quite impressed. The waitress was quite attentive to all my needs. Ordered a milkshake which was very delicious but the restaurant’s atmosphere is 50’s so I was truly expecting to have the milkshake stainless steel mixing cup brought to my table to top off my milkshake, like they did back in the day. The meal was very tasty and I topped everything off with homemade cinnamon donuts. Great place. You gotta eat here.

Good breakfast place, good service, excellent food quality. I travel for work every week, I rarely find a breakfast place as good as Route 42.

I’ve wanted to try this place for awhile now and I finally can! I order the Farmer Omelette and s’mores mini donuts. There was so much food that I couldn’t even finish my donuts. The farmer omelette have bacon, ham, onion and potato in it with a side of MORE potatoes! It also comes with two piece of toast and(i assume) homemade pineapple jam which was amazing, it kinda reminded me or marmalade which is my favorite but the pineapple jam is less syrup like. The s’mores mini donuts we have to order in a dozen not the half dozen which kinda sucks but it’s understandable. The donuts were warm and soft and they have mini marshmallow on top with drizzle chocolate syrup, they bring it out in a take out container for us since we don’t know if we can finish(which we couldn’t). My boyfriend got the big breakfast with three eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and pancake. The pancake were so soft and it kinda remind me of Cora’s pancake but their is so much better. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes.

This place is absolute heaven! Retro style 50’s diner with great food and amazing atmosphere. Place is surprisingly spacious and the booths are these long giant pillowy cushions that you just sink right into. The menu selection is ginormous so you’re guaranteed to find at least one thing you’ll like. Prices are reasonable. We got two shakes, two burgers a cheesy garlic bread appetizer and a dozen donuts for under $ 50. So you can spend less than $ 20 here for a meal and be quite content. I wasn’t able to finish my food because the portion sizes are massive. We did have an issue with an inattentive waitress. She would leave before we finish speaking and didn’t check up on us once, but she would cater to the large family groups like she was a house elf. So hence the 4 stars and not 5(only reason). I’m definitely coming back and becoming a regular here,

Love Love Love this retro diner. We have been back twice and ordered the fish and chips… YUMMY! It is a massive piece of white fish which we thought was cod, but they waitress said it was basa, which is one of my favourite white fishes. It comes with a good size of coleslaw and tons of fries. My only complaint about this dish is that the fries are generic frozen fries. I prefer homemade fries when I eat out at a restaurant. I can throw in frozen fries into the oven or deep fryer at home with little effort. But I deal with the fries for the fantastic fish and decent coleslaw :) Definitely order the basa battered fish.

Obviously, Sundays, get here early, before the churches let out. Great place for a breakfast. I was struck by how amazingly FAST this place is. It seems like mere minutes after ordering your food is hot and on your table.

I was just looking around Windsor for a place to have a family dinner, and came upon Route 42 Diner & Dairy Bar, which I had never visited before. A car ride later, I found myself in a retro, 1950’s style diner, reminding me of some of m favourite classy restaurant joints. After eating there, and truly feeling the 1950’s environment of the diner, Route 42 has become one of my favourite places to eat at. Let me start with the customer. Route 42 has a friendly and fast staff that will always be there to help you when you need to. They will check on how you are doing, and will always refill your cups as you near to finish it. Now, the food. One word: HEAVEN. They have a large variety of food to choose from, but they mainly specialize in their burgers. On my first visit, my group ordered ‘The Hangover’ Burger, ‘Carnival’ Burger, and ‘Western’ Burger. I will warn you now that The Hangover Burger is massive, but will fulfill your taste buds’ craves! The Hangover Burger consisted of a homemade grilled burger, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, peameal bacon, and a sunny-side-up egg which sat on a bed of fried onions. I know it seems like a lot, but this burger will definitely be worth a try. To underline the quality of the food, Route 42 gives you a sense of comfort and time travel as it brings you back to the era of rock and roll. And of course, you can find pictures of Elvis Presley anywhere in the restaurant(also featuring Popeye, Lucy, and Marilyn Monroe)! You can also enjoy the soothing music of Elvis’ great hits. *Unfortunately, I was unable to visit their dairy bar, located at the end of the restaurant. All in all, Route 42 Diner & Dairy Bar is the absolute best, and you will never regret eating here!

This is a 50’s style diner. The selection of food is amazing, this place is very creative. I am obsessed with their deep fried Mac and cheese bites. The«In the Ghetto» is also pretty delicious. I came here on my birth date once and ordered a bacon Cesar. They didn’t have clamato juice and so they sent someone to the store to get some for me and then they gave me free homemade donuts. So impressed. Customer for life.

Great establishment. Super friendly staff. Decent diner type food. Western burger was very tasty. Fries are mediocre though. Texas dog was quite good. And the donut creations are yummy. Would definitely return!

It was our first time here. The place is bright and very clean. We were very impressed with the décor. Our orders were taken right away and food came out in a very timely manner. We both ordered different burgers. The food was fantastic. The quality and portions were perfect. However, that’s the only good thing about our dinning experience. Our waitress was not overly concerned with us. She did not come back once to see how our meal was, nor did she come to see if we wanted a refill on our beverages(we did). She took a very long time in coming to clear our plates and when she did she dropped off our check without asking if we’d like anything else; and we did. NOTE: I will say that not all the waiters and waitresses were like that. I observed the others going to their tables countless times to tend to their customers’ needs. We are not going to let one poor waitress ruin the fact the food and place were very good we will go back, and I would recommend this place to people. I will say this, if you feel your wait staff is not taking proper care of you, ask to speak to the manager. We WILL be going back, however, if we get the same waitress I will ask for another section.

This place is crazy! Good crazy! Rock and roll interior, attitude and tunes! Food is the classic diner style food — elevated to cloud 9. I had farmer’s omelette(good!) and my husband had smth like a heart attack on a plate with piles french toast, jam and whipped cream. He loved it, I love him so everyone enjoyed! This is a great place for a brunch. You won’t regret it.

Had a great experience. The place was clean. they were rocking the 50’s music, the food was fast and tasted good, the eggs were perfect, the toast was done the way I like it, the home-fries weren’t burnt or oily, I am happy overall.

(Breakfast review) Nothing special. Priced fairly.(Except they try and nickel and dime you charging for peanut butter) for that reason alone I have no reason to go back there. I do like the atmosphere/décor! I give that an A++ Loose the nickel and dime tactic and you’d get another star.

1950’s-themed diner; very nice looking interior. Prompt and great customer service. Typical decent diner food that’s lacking in Canada. Had a pretty good breakfast but was in a rush so didn’t check out the full menu or the dairy bar attached. Definitely worth a try, I liked it. Edit: found a link:
