This is the first Starbucks in Windsor…(as mentioned in previous review) — but it has a great layout. There’s the area you order with a little corner of tables — but then… walk a little farther the other way — and you’ve got loads more seating away from the hustle bustle of the baristas. It’s a great little bookshop café. Mind you, the ordering area is a little crowded… they always have coffee beans out, cute little mugs /tea pots you can buy — but all in the midst of where the line forms, so it gets crowded so if you have a large purse or a toddler be careful. This location is busy, usually there’s a line… or one about to form behind you — the baristas are masters at managing the rush. They are good at taking their time to help you decide… yet, it doesn’t slow the line down. I always feel bad for the baristas — they are so cramped behind that counter — yet somehow make it work. I’m sure when this starbucks was first planned they did not anticipate frozen beverages galore, thirty new hot beverages, breakfast sandwiches and everything else they keep adding to the Starbucks menu.(I’d prefer if they would stick to coffee /fun beverages). Ah well… great starbucks, great people watching(we actually saw a guy shop lifting from the bookstore once while enjoying coffee… yes, we reported it). Large bathrooms(shared with chapters), great atmosphere — and the location is just a good place to meet no matter what side of the city or county you are coming from. However… if you are looking for a coffee shop where you won’t see someone you know…(say you are grabbing coffee when you called in sick or something…) hit up a drive thru, there’s always someone you know lurking around a book shelf /stack of coffee beans.

This is the Starbucks inside Windsor’s only bookstore in Windsor’s only mall. Okay there are a couple other ghetto malls but c’mon. This used to be Windsor’s only Starbucks but after some hesitation Starbucks has seemed to move in big time into Windsor. Or bigger time. There’s a nice range of seating. It’s usually not too hard to find a seat. Unlike almost all Starbucks in Toronto, it’s not packed with university students leaching off the free wireless and not moving their asses for 3 hours. It’s what a Starbucks should be. You come. Get a coffee. Grab a seat. Enjoy your joe. Maybe read the paper or talk. And then you get on with your life. Maybe shop. Like the patio area which provides some nice tanning rays from the afternoon sun. Go farmer tan!
