Windsor Station

This is a very nice station that provides a pleasant place to catch a Via Train. There are several trains daily to Toronto from this terminal. The facility is relatively new, completed in 2012. The location is in the Walkerville section of town behind the Hiram Walker Distillery. It is not that easy to find if you have not been there before. Coming from the US, once getting through the tunnel or over the bridge, one just needs to make their way to Riverside Dr. and head east. When reaching the distillery, it is one block south.
The parking is ample. There is a rather large lot attached to the station that can be used long term. There is an automated pay machine that accepts credit cards. At $ 8 CAD per day, the cost is reasonable though there is also a private lot next door that is a bit cheaper. The design of the facility is airy and spacious. The floor space provides a comfortable waiting area. There are manned desks and this feature is always desirable. The small station makes it easy to get to and from the trains. There are no dining facilities and few amenities but they are not really necessary in a terminus like this.
In general, this facility is a both pleasant and functional. It is very nice for what it is and serves its purpose.

The bright and airy new (ish) station is a huge improvement over its dank, Cold War-​era predecessor. It is a very inviting structure, with vastly improved traffic flow in its parking lot.
Nearby short– and long-​term parking is affordable at $ 5 or $ 8 per day.
It is easy to find if you’re driving in from the US, but not terribly convenient for those who do not or cannot drive.

How to review a train station? Here is what I was looking for in order of importance:
Trains were on time. Wifi didn’t work very well. Facilities were clean. Parking is close, but I had to circle a few rimes. No place for food within walking distance, just a vending machine.

$ 8 dollar parking per day if you leave your car behind. can be paid with visa, MasterCard or Canadian cash. Must be paid upon arrival. you purchase a ticket at a machine in parking lot and leave it displayed on your car dashboard. there is a currency exchange station inside to exchange cash. there’s an ATM as well. you can walk to a Tim Hortons if you have time to spare for a coffee. there’s also vending machines inside. cheers!

Tiny station situated in a somewhat inconvenient spot (more than 2 km walk to the tunnel bus stop, and taxis are hard to find immediately). There’s not much to see, since the train station is basically one large room with a couple of chairs, a few vending machines, and an ATM machine. There’s a Tim Hortons right across the street, but otherwise no businesses close by. The station and the area are pretty much deserted unless there is a train leaving within 30 minutes — then it tends to get disorganized and hectic.
The staff is very nice and helpful — I missed my train the first time around and they were very nice about getting me set on the next ride home. It’s a 30 minute walk to the tunnel bus, which will get you to Detroit for 4 dollars. I haven’t really seen too many taxis at the station, unless they’re dropping people off, but if you walk to the Ceasar’s Hotel you can find quite a few waiting at the front.

I’ll assume I didn’t notice the dedicated drop-​off zone on previous visits. It indeed permits 15 minutes of kissing and dropping. Bravo Via and one more star.

An older station at the beginning of the line but quaint nonetheless. Tucked in between buildings churning out alcohol (Hiram Walker & Sons), the smells in the neighbourhood are sweet and heady. Nice service and really comfortable seating. Not overly organized while boarding but what can you do?
